I am creating a message board in ASP, and I want to create a login feature where you can view the site without being logged in as a registered user, or you can be logged in and use more features.
What is the best way to go about doing this? Should I use cookies, or should I just try to create a login feature using VBScript and Database values?

View Replies View Relatedthe database works is it checks over a database and verifies the username & pass with code. Then the user enters the site and there's a seperate table to keep a record of when users log in and log out.
Well basically I'd like to know if and how I could apply a filter using asp code? I'd like to filter out everything but <%Session("name")%> (which displays their username) so that user logged in can view their own records.
When a site uses an ASP form using the "Post" method, I cannot connect to the site using an URL parsing the parameters with ? and &.
View Replies View RelatedI have big problem because i need to link site and one service. I have customer with his site and about 1000 html pages which he want to be restricted. So we prolly need to do changes in that html pages...
Other thing is that part of site would be avaliable via payment thorugh SMS service. SO basicaly u go to one site, send SMS with instructions, and that service send u SMS with random generated password.
Then user need to go back to site and login using that random generated password. Can this be done and in what way. We have this system working in php but i dont have much ideas how to use this in ASP specialy with random passwords. I have some asp scripts that restrict pages but ofc users and pwd must be defined in access/SQL which is problem here regarding i dont have user/pwd i only have random generated code:

Which is obsolete, considering that I don't have any warnings (oh, I'm such a little angel!)

I have a username and password for the USPS server,but I am having trouble figuring out where to place it. Also if someone as a script to send and recieve data from the USPS server that would be great.
I need to provide the search feature on the companys web site. I have read one of the threads here that this can be accomplished via Google. I can't locate the thread anymore. Is it possible? could you please point me to the right resources?

The computer recognises that there are two tables. However i get the message:
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'

i want to have this feature implemented on a framed page: a two paged frame with:
frame (a) containing a textbox and submit button
frame (b) dispays the url entered in the textbox
i have no idea how i'll program the textbox to accepts urls and open the link in the target frame.
I would like to insert a calendar into a webpage that shows the current date and really needs no updating, fro mthis calendar i would like to select a date from it and have that date inserted into a text field, in all there will be 22 text fields (but for now its probably best to concentrate on one).
The reason being i would like to give the user of the website access to change dates in a table in access. The dates can be calculated from the first date entered into the first text field like so:
All dates will be 7 days apart. Ie if the firsat date is 1/7/04 then make the second 8/7/04 and the third 15/7/04 etc 22 times.

i have a text field that the user can input a keyword to search on. i want it to search two fields in my database: productName and productDetails. can someone tell me the sql i would have to use? I know it would be a mixture of using the WHERE and LIKE commands.

I have a column named category, which users either select baseball or basketball from the radio buttons on a form. I can't figure out how to make this work. I'm implying that the code is working, the record is adding to the database, just not the category field, and when I display all the fields out of my database onto a html page the category field is blank. Below is the code I have.

I am to build a site onto an ASP server. Anyone here used Dreamweaver and is it just a simple matter of opening up a new ASP page in Dreamweaver and build the site like you would normally do with a HTML page and it will handle the ASP coding accordingly and you can just simply upload it onto an ASP server and it will work?
The site I am to build is basically just a standard html website, but my friend wants me to build it for an ASP server so he has asked me to make sure it is an asp site so I am presuming with the extension .asp
If I build it as a html site to begin with, will converting it to asp be hard. Could I just export my pages into asp or is there more to it?

I am building a website to pull data from a remote https site using xmlhttp. The data from the https site is behind a login screen. I can successfully get through the login screen with:

That works great - but then, when I try to go to the next page (where the data is that I want to pull) - I use the same process and I get kicked back out to the login screen? Could there be some cookies, referer, strings being passed normally that I am not including in my second request - How do i find out for sure?
I have used the software IETrace and it looks like some cookies being passed, but how do I know for sure if (and what exactly) it is using?
I want to login to a page using MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP.4.0 or an object like this, I must send the form variables needed to login when I try to login to the page. But the problem is, that the page looks like a exe file (not a asp file or php file or what ever). The name of the page I try to login is something like "/pw?/session/login", nothing more, without extension. I have tried the code with a normal asp file with session registration and login process and it worked, but not with this file.

I basically want to build an e-commerce website that will take all data from a database. It all needs to be dynamic, products added to the database would automatically update in the website, the navigation also needs to be dynamic, it needs to be low maintainence, i aim to have the checkout to save customers details to a seperate database, the payment process would have completed, no payment details would be saved.
What do you think on the above. Does any one have firstly any code they may be able to give me, to help me along the way. it does need to be done on a budget, I will buy code if need be. What is the best program to develop such a website in?
I'm looking to eliminate all lag on my site and I have a couple questions regarding databases. Is it possible to open 2 ADODB connections at once? I want to put my sites boards on a different database than everything else but I want to get user information to update in the main db. How would I go about doing this?
Does closing all the stuff you opened in your ADODB connection make a difference? Does it resuly in the use of more bandwidth and site lag?

View Replies View Relatedi've got a local server on another pc (ip address:192.168.1.243) but when I want to connect to ASP site that's on that computer it can't. when type "http://192.168.1.243" in my browser it returns this:
IE says: "impossible to find the page" and Firefox says: "the operation timed out when attempting to contact 192.168.1.243". I know that ASP works, because when we try it on the localhost it works (but that's not my computer so I can't use it).
