i have a record that is returned by the database as domain/username. i want to be able to strip off "domain/" and just display "username". is this possible? if so, how would i go about doing this?

i have a password reminder page that works, but i'm trying to strip down the username. it's in the database as domain/username, but i don't want the user to see the domain in the email they receive.
when i run the page i get a type mismatch error pointing to the line where i'm outputting the username in the email. i can get this to work when i'm outputting the data to a web page. is it because of cdonts? how would i strip off the data? Code:

I have a query that i have been having trouble with for some weeks and i am desperate to get working.
What i want to do is construct a statement from the values i pull from the database.
for example, i have 2 rows in the database, one field, called dbValue that has the values "Value 1" and "Value 2"
I want to pull the values from the database and construct an if statement like the following

Could someone please help me out, the values have to be pulled from the database as they will be dynamic.

I'm not sure if this is possible or not, but I thought some one here should be able to tell me how it can be done. I'm building a site that will allow people to enter information about their company into a database, the information is then displayed in a profile page for them. They can enter things like news and events. This all works fine and dandy, but now I have had an idea.
Is it possible to be able to publish something for each company so that they can display the same information on their own website? I am thinking it would be something similar to an RSS feed.
Has anyone done anything like this before? The site right now is ASP with a MSSQL backend. The sites that will be posting the published information may be a variety of hosting platforms, if a certain platform is required then we will make it as a requirement.

I am using a repeater control to display the results of a database query. The problem is when outputing the results of a multiline nvarchar field.
I generally try put it in a <pre> tag and try to enforce the table width. However this doesn't help and the table width when viewing the page is the width of the page, and not the specified width. Code:

I have an asp page that reads the contents of a database and creates an xml news feed. I have code that strips out the <BR> and <P></P> tags, but it looks one of the databases I'm trying to read from uses only <P> without the closing tag.

I'm trying to catch some characters in a string before they are entered into a database that are not ASCII and convert them to ASCII characters. The characters in question are the angular double quotes but this could be associated with similar occurences. I want to check for left angular double quotes [“] or right angular double quotes [“] and replace them with straight double quotes ["].
(I'm not actually storing the HTML equivalents - they are simply there to give you an idea of which characters I'm on about.)a way of catching these buggers? I've tried using chr(8220) (the numeric code for one of the illegal characters apparently) but ASP has a problem working with numbers outside the character map.

I'm creating a site that pulls details from a database & display it on screen. Problem is that there's sometimes loads of data which makes the page huge. What I want it to do is display ten and a next page link to display the next ten. Like the way Google displays results. Problem is I don't know how to generate pages on the fly. I have a form that allows the user to select multiple options.

When the form is submitted, I'm getting the details using
user = request.form("user")
this is returning the mutliple options.
What I would like to do is pass all the options to 'user' but at one
point on the results page only show the first user selected, not the
multiple selection
Ordering Results
what is an easy way to go about sorting my search results through links, you know, like clicking the link at the top of a column. i know how to pass the order by in a querystring:
http://www.example.com?lastname=smith&firstname=john&state=GA&orderlast=desc
where orderlast is the order querystring.
but what about all the other links? what do I do with the previous querystring entries like lastname, firstname, and state? i find if i add orderlast to my lastname column and i click on it, i will have 2 orderlast querystrings
Recordcount Results
I'm using multiple recordsets on a page, and they are all returning correct results and enough of them. My problem is when I try to access the recordcount property rs.recordcount, they all return a result of -1. This would usually mean that no records are returned. So why is showing my recordsets that are displaying records with recordcounts of -1. I can't seem to figure out.

Using Bbc Code With Results
I know how to display results that contain html code on a page. (ie. <br>

what i would like to know, is if a result contains bbc code (ie.. [code]
[url]..) how would i display that to be readable?
This is not for a forum, but would be the same as if i was writting a forum.
I think there is a script that the page has to contain to be able to read it
correctly, but I can't find it.
