Submitting Data From Page To Page
I am in the process of developing an application and would like to hide the
query strings in the URLs. I want to POST data to a page then validate the
data. If there is an error I have to send data back via a long query string.
Is there anyway to POST data between pages programmatically?

I am developing a page that when it loads up, it will display certain information from an SQL statement using preset values. However when the user is using the page they can then use drop down menus, to choose different year, suppliers etc, the page then needs to reload showing this new information.
I think it is possible to do this using the response.redirect, and direct it back to itself, with all the new variables. However some information will stay the same and I just wondered if it was possible to only reload the information that was required to save on server time running sql statements taht need not run.

Maybee a little bit of topic, but is it possible to stay on the
submitting page once you've clicked submit.
This is to get processing done on page B when you submit on page A,
and the page should not change. Normally I use a response.redirect to
the submitting page, but that can't be done in one case.

I'm trying to submit a form to the same page. Eg. (page name = test.asp)
<form action="test.asp" method="post" name="testform">
<input type="text" name="testval1">
<input type="submit" value="Go">
</form>
At the very top of the page I try to get the value by saying:
newtest = Request.Form("testval1")
I got the example from here
The trouble is, my page instantly throws an error. I think it's because when I first load the page up, it's obviously not coming from a form submit! Can anyone shed any light on a way around this?

My form contains a drop down list of univ. campuses and depending
upon the campus user is selecting, I am selecting the courses offered
in that campus from database (MS Acccess) and showing those in a
different drop down list below.
Is there any way that I can access that campus-list value before
submitting it to database?
Also, please give me solutions in VBScript and no javascript. That's my
Prof.s restriction. One of my friend told, there is no way this can be
done. But I am sure there must be some solution. Microsoft is not that less
creative.

I’ve created an application with 3 pages[forms] that have information that must be entered. This application has a session variable that is passed from page to page to ensure that the information that is put in the tables in the Sql Server database is linked together. It also sends an email after the last page is submitted.
My problem is that I am trying to create a page that will show the user what they have entered and allow them to go back and make changes if necessary, before they go to the next page. [A verification page I guess you would say]
I have created the 1st verification page which shows the info [from the first form] the way I want it to and it allows them to go back and make changes, [while I’m testing locally, that is]. When I go live, it skips over the 1st verification page and goes straight to the next form page. It does process all the code that is in the verification page and adds the info to the database but it will not show the verification page! When I do get it to show the verification page, it does not process the code behind the page that adds to the database. Code:

Then PAGE3.ASP brings back further information. My question is how do I use one field from the address information on PAGE2.ASP to display on PAGE3.ASP? I know how to do it with textboxs and such but cant get RS data to hope page to page. I get no errors or anthing.
On PAGE2.ASP I have :
<input type="hidden" name="CLIENTHIDDEN" value="<%=RS1("CICL_LNG_NM") %>"></td>
On PAGE3.ASP I have:

Is there a way to get data submitted to the server without using a form? At the moment I have a very complex form that takes a very long time to load (about 30 seconds), and at intervals I want to send save commands back to the server so that the dynamic information on the page can be saved. The problem is that if I do it the normal way it's frustrating for the user because they have to wait another 30 seconds for the page to reload.
I've also tried using a hidden IFrame and submitting that, but it slows the page's initial load down even more and is causing a bit of an administration nightmare. Also, the program stalls while it waits for a response (success/failure) to come back to the client.

I have an ASP form that has a field that automatically places the current date into it. It uses the function Date().
The problem I am having is when the form is submitted into my Access database the date is coming out wrong in the Access field. The datatype for the field is Date/Time but it still is not coming out right.
Example: the date in the ASP form shows as 12/19/2006 and the entry in the Access form shows 12:00:27 AM. If I change the format of the Date/Time field to Short Date, the result is: 12/30/1899.
Does anyone know how I can get the data that is posted to the Access database to come out the same as the ASP form?

A coworker is creating a form. The user fills in some numerical data. We would like to present them with a Calculate button that they can use to submit their numbers and be presented with the same information but also with the totals at the bottom. BTW, we cannot use JavaScript so it must all be done using server-side ASP.
That part is fine but we also want to provide them with a Submit button in addition to the calculate button. Now, I realize that if both buttons are contained within the same <form> tag, there can be only one action URL.
We toyed with the idea that if name=calculate, display the original form with the fields filled in and the calculations done and if name=submit, redirect to the thank you page but given that the method is post, then the redirect would not transfer the post data. If the method was get, then the redirect could include the query string data in the URL but that is not the case.

OK this query if probably fairly elementary, and forgive my novice understanding of the terminology, I have dealt a little with php but .asp is relatively new to me.
I am able to store variables posted from a form using something along the lines of
strStartDay = Request.Form("StartDay")
however this only works for the .asp page that immediately results from the form. how do I then pass these same values(entered from the form) into an asp page that follows (link from the first asp page).
In my ignorance I have placed the same variable statements in my second asp page but no values are being returned (which of course they wouldnt).

i have a server that recieves data often from a third party data provider often. I would like to PUSH this data to the client webpage, WITHOUT having to force the user to hit refresh or without having to use client side polling and autorefresh. Once recieved on the client, i can use something like DHTML to add it to a table.
how to go about this or what is the best technology to use for doing this? Any sample applications out there doing this today?

I run a website that reads our own databases and makes the data available to our users. However, recently someone has sent me a link to a php page that contains data they want me to display on our site. The php creates a csv formatted text string.
Example : I type in www.somewebsite.php and the page returns game1,gamedate,gametime,hometeam,visitor,,,, with real values of course being in these values. the ,,, are null fields that have no value as they expect our website to fill in this data for them from our users. how do I read this data with asp into a recordset, or a database?

I've created a form that posts data to a script and the script checks the values. If the values are invalid, I want to be able to "post" the data back to the original page for them to be picked up. Is this possible?
I can't use JavaScript for client-side validation as the data to be compared against is in a database. I don't want to use session variables as they are server intensive and can expire. And I can't send the variables through the URL as some of the fields are textareas and could hold long values...
