I would like to clean up my url's with a program like mod_rewrite in PHP. Is there anything out there that doesn't have to be installed to the server to do this job?
View Replies View RelatedI have always been in a habit of putting the process page separate from the original data input page. For Example my login.asp page will have the userid and password fields and then login_proc.asp page will process this information resulting in login/error message.
These days i am working with a designer company to upgrade our company web site and they are forcing me to put information and process information, 2 steps to be on the same page. The content will be conditional.
Now my question is, out of these 2 which is better way. The 2nd one is ok if the input page is really simple and same way processing of this information is simple too. But what if the input page is already receiving some parameters from other pages, and due to this, input information is already getting displayed conditionally.
Is there any way to clean the user input before saving to the database.I tried to use..
Function StripNonNum(strInput)
Dim regEx
Set regEx = New RegExp
regEx.Pattern ="^[w-.]{1,}@([da-zA-Z-]{1,}.){1,}[da-zA-Z-]{2,3}$"
regEx.IgnoreCase = True
regEx.Global = True
StripNonNum = regEx.Replace(strInput, "")
End Function
But It doesn't work when user cut&paste the information to screen. For eg.Cut&Paste from a CV which contains Bullet points is there any way to remove these bullet Points before data saving..
i am trying to clean up the messy .asp script that came with some new e-commerce software (Everest), as it gives far too much html. Take a look here.
I am going to take the java script out and reference it like this:
<script src="/superstore/productlist.js"></script>
<script src="/superstore/buy.js"></script>
(nicked from Tesco's website.. Hopefully it will work)
Can anyone suject how I get rid of all that messy creation of variables or Message strings?
WARNING! I am approaching this from a HTML point of view. Can do html in notepad and am working from the generated html files backwords to find out what the ASP files are, so please explain it like you are talking to a four year old.
I need to convert the Query Strings into Clean URLs, Found some articles on
PHP and Apache server.. How do we it them with ASP ??
My site keeps going down and I don't know why. I've been looking for tips on cleaning up my ASP code but couldn't find any. Do any of you guys/girls have any tips on cleaning the code? What to do and what not to do?
View Replies View RelatedI have a 'textarea' javascript component which allows users to edit text in an HTML form's text area with some WYSIWYG features (such as emboldening, insertion of lists etc). However, this doesn't deal very well at all with text copied and pasted from Word.
Is there a way (a VBScript function maybe) which can strip out Word HTML upon submitting the form, or alternatively a good free text-area replacement tool with this built-in?
I usually clean the session when the result page is presented to the user.
At this time, say an email confirmation was sent to the user and a pdf file
they can becdownloaded from the result page.
But if the user click the refresh or back button etc. for some reasons, they
pdf file is not available since it created on the fly when the request was
submitted.
So I am thinking about pull pdf file from database, but don't want the
database being hitted everytime the refresh button was clicked or the
requested is resubmitted.
I would like to get a roadmap on learning from you folks. I need to learn
how to take an SQL view of data that I have and allow it's data to be
retrieved as an XML document in IIS.
I know how to create queries and views. I use Data Transformation Services
frequently (there isn't an XML document type in the OUTPUT options that I
can see) and, I actually get the concept of XML AUTO (for those who do not
know, this does a quick and dirty formatting of data in XML hierarchy), but
yet I do not know how to take these XML results and write them to a file,
allow it to retrieved (ONLY retrieved, not write back) from IIS as an XML
document type. Code:
If you care to share, please post what tools you use for ASP development. I've been using basically the same set of tools for a looooong time and was wondering what other like-minded people are using.
Me:
Dreamweaver MX for layout & design
Araneae for ASP
Photoshop 6 (too cheap to upgrade ) for graphics
...And I'm trying to learn VB and am tinkering with Flash
[Added later]
I also use Access & MySQL for DB work (very little Access anymore).
What does eveyone here use to create their ASP apps?
View Replies View RelatedCan anyone give me good references on tools for ASP web programmers? I am
not talking about DreamWeaver or FrontPage for developing ASP pages, but
other tools that ASP web programmers should use, for example, for
performance measurements, etc... I don't know if there are any tools, I just
ask because I am new ASP web programmer.
Has anyone ever set up code samples for using UPS online tools I need it
for international shipping. I've been trying to setup the tools myself. Some
countries work fine, others produce validation errors. Other errors include
no shipping solutions between origin and destination. When I manually check
on the UPS site, they resolve without problems
I have a way to get all the pdf files listed on my server, but now comes the real challenge: finding text within the files without, that's right without opening them in the browser. anyone heard of or know a way that you can have the server look through the pdfs?
View Replies View RelatedI am used to Compilers. assemblers and a lot of other systems that at least give error numbers or some help in identifying and/or isolating syntax errors, undefined or multiply defined variables, etc etc.
When I make an error in an ASP program I only get a message saying that the program could not be executed. Can anyone recommend some good debugging tools or maybe an ASP code checker.
what value range for this code?
set objTools=server.CreateObject("MSWC.Tools")
Response.write objtools.Random()
I executed code several times but couldnt figure out the value range and logic.Reason for asking is we are moving to windows 2003 server and now v need to change above code from our site.
Allowing download of file types that will display in a browser is no problem, but how about files types that don't display? I would like my clients to be able to click on a link that will start a download or any type of file.
Try searching on "download"! Of course this has to be server side - I can't expect my clients to have to install something at there end.
Has anybody used the UPS tools for calculating shipping and if so how did they go about it? I have seen the articles on 4guysfromrolla but that appears to be using xml component to get the data from the ups site rather than using the developers tools provided by UPS.
I am just not sure the best way to go about this. Anybody with experience using this who could give me some pointers would be greatly appreciated. On their site if you dont sign up then you dont get any specs on the tools other then the standard ad crap. I have also seen some components that want to charge for this apparently free service so thats not something I am interested in. I would also be interested in info about the USPS and FedEx too but found no similar tools on their sites.
I'm nearing the end of my site development (currently ASP and Access
moving to SQL) and am looking for site testing tools...
In particular looking for load testing and concurrent connection analysis to
see where site might be heavy or pages leave connections open!
Can anyone recommend good testing software that can give information on the
above...
Has anyone used the UPS e-tools such as address verification and rate selection service? I'm trying to implement it on our site and I would just about kill to see some source code. It's a little above my coding level and I just can't seem to figure it out.
The documentation goes into a VB sample, but I dont think that is necessary since you can perform an HTTP POST and parse XML in an ASP page.
I would love a tool which can be run when testing a classic ASP app which
records what code has been executed. I have a problem I have to find
occurances of through thousands of thousands of lines of code. This would
help speed the task. Anyone know of such an animal? I am kind of google
impaired. I was unable to find the lyrics to rolly polly fishhead one time
and my DH found it in 10 seconds.
moved an ASP application from a Windows 2000 to a Windows 2003 server I'm using MSWC.Tools to validate the existence of some files I got the next error
Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3'
Server.CreateObject Failed
I am trying to integrate UPS's Online Tools into my classic ASP project. Does anyone have some examples of this that I could look at? I am specifically looking for information on the "Rates and Service Selection" tool.
View Replies View Relatedany examples of querying UPS Online services (XML) especially Time in Transit and Rate Selection using ASP.
View Replies View RelatedMy webhosting company took down my website as it was causing a high memory use. Of course this happened just when I was on holiday ! Anyway I am trying to figure out what's going on. I didn't updated any script for more than 2 weeks before the abuse occured as I was on holiday. To make sure everything would be fine when away I had purge the database, defrag and compact it before leaving.
Any tools I can use to check out my site ? My host send me some log files created by Filemon but I can't really figure out what's wrong.
From where i can download MSWC.Tools and IISSample.PageCounter Components for Windows 2003 Server.
View Replies View RelatedHi people, I currently have a website and the asp pages include the following line:
"Set Tools = Server.CreateObject("MSWC.Tools")"
My site is hosted on Windows 2000 server.
The hosting company has offered me a new deal but on Windows 2003 servers, I took them up on this but found that my asp pages did not function as these servers do not have the Internet Information Server (IIS) Resource Kit installed on them. I found this out by
looking at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q249290/.
As I am not the original creator of the asp pages and have no knowledge of asp, can anyone help me fix this problem where my asp pages will function correctly on the Windows 2003 server?
anyone have an example of using insertion point of data with MSWC.Tools ?
e.g. how can I send data to a "div" tag ?
Set oTools = Server.CreateObject("MSWC.Tools" )
oTools.processForm "output.asp", "template.asp", "<div>"
I'm looking for sample code that will require a use to enter a code from a scued image format.
I'm sure you've seen them before where the image is barely readable by a human and the user has to enter the code correctly to submit the form.
I'm looking for ASP code and NOT ASP.NET code as I am supporting a legacy site.
Do you have any working examples which show how to send data to an insertion point in the template file ?
e.g. how can I send data to "div" tag ?
Set oTools = Server.CreateObject("MSWC.Tools" )
oTools.processForm "output.asp", "template.asp", "<div>"
do you know of any asp code that makes a pdf on the fly.
if there's none do you know of a good, not-so-expensive and easy-to-implement component?
Is there any way that I can store my ASP code in an Access DB and have it display that way? Ideally, I would like to make a page with a text area that I can write and edit code in, and then when I submit it, I would like to view the page that the code creates. The code in the DB would include code that selects from and updates the DB.
I would like to do this because I can't work remotely now.
