True Image Thumbnails
How can my ASP serverscript read a JPG file and create a small thumbnail
image? I don't mean simple resizing, but true resizing so that the image
actually gets smaller in size. Is this possible without the use of a 3rd
party component?Does anyone have a code example for me?

I want a page where I will have an image gallery. The page when loaded goes and grabs all the picutres in the directory and puts them into an array, creating thumbnails for them as well (found this part in my search).
After the thumbnails are loaded, I want the pictures to be loaded in the same window, in a section underneath the thumbnails. Also Can I scroll the thumbnails left or right on mouseover? not in a full circle but left until the first one is encountered and right until the last picuture is showed?

I have a site that allows image uploads, what I'm looking for is a little piece of code that when the user uploads an image, the code makes a copy of the uploaded image and resizes it to a set size with a new filename of "origionalfilename + _tn.jpg" etc .how I can do this WITHOUT installing any components onto the web server.

I'm doing a gallery and I need to make some thumbnails of the images, but yeah...I don't know how, especially since I can't access the server to install stuff. And to be honest I wouldn't know how to install them in the first place (linux server)
Now...the best solution I've come up with so far is to send a string to another webserver that runs on a decent platform and use asp.not to make the thumbnail and then link it from there...would be a pain in the butt though, so if anyone has some good advice then I'm all ears (even if the advice is to give up, tbh)

I'm trying to delete 2 files using fso. The mail file name is stored in an
access db.
using the code below I can delete the main file but not the thumbnail.
The thumbnail has the same file name plus the suffix "_small" so if the main
file is called "mypicture.jpg" the thumbnail is called "mypicture_small.jpg"
The main file is being deleted but no matter how I try I cannot get the
thumbnail deleted. They are both in the same folder with the same permissions.

Is it possible to create thumbnails on-the-fly in ASP? I'm aware of ASPImage, but that appears to create actual files. I want to know if I can make 300 x 300 pixel artwork, and have ASP generate any size I prefer.
Maybe I want 50 pixel on this page and 92 pixel on another. I realize I can set the height and width, but I want to actually decrease the download size also. I don't want to recreate a new file for every size. Is this possible?

Would this be a good idea... to create a thumbnail folder and a lg image folder... and then like link it somehow? How would any of you approach this? I want the website to load the thumbnail images into watever given category and then let the thumbnail have a link to a larger picture which clicked on...
Would this be easy to integrate with what i already have??? I'm using filepaths for the mysql database and the images are resized with html so you can see where the problem lies at...

I've been using text files for Tab-Delimited/ADO/ASP sites so that users can
update and display their products lists through my system with relative
ease.
Only problem is that for the last few months or so, this system has been
generating loads of timeouts. ISP has said that I should be looking to
upgrade my system, as it is the mechanics of it that are creaking under the
strain. My queries are:
a) Which REALLY performs better OLEDB DSN-less or ODBC DSN-less?
b) If I convert the system to use 1 Access DB rather than 50-odd
tab-delimited text files will this REALLY perform better in relation to
timeouts?
To give you some idea of the problems, the site can viewed by going to
www.bardwells.co.uk and clicking the Product List link.
I just can't understand it because the pages on the whole are very lean and
zippy (esp. ADSL), but its these exact same Broadband users who seem to have
more trouble with timeouts than dial-up ones.

in one of my sql queries on an asp page i am trying to select some data from an access table. The problem is the search criteria is based on a yes/no field. I need to find any record where the value is null or true. So far i have this:
if ISNULL(orseof("Returned")) OR orseof("Returned") = True then
the ISNULL section works it is just the = true bit that doesn't.

I have several pages I set up in my web site and I am having trouble with two of them - search and results. The stat_search uses a form which seems to work right and when I test the recordset on the stat_results page and enter a value it returns the right results.
When a value is entered from the stat_search page the results page displays the records with the right value and the Records _ of _ indicates the right number of records but when I use the Next or Last arrows to move to the next record I receive the ADODB.Field error. Code:

Of course, there can be mutliple records for the gauge and sensors, so I created a loop that should run thru and select them all. But I am getting the above error. But I know I am getting into the loop because I have included a response.write sql to verify I am selecting the correct objects. Code:

Here's what I want to do (i'm kind of there in JavaScript, but want to move it to ASP).
I have 17 different html pages. quiz1.html > quiz17.html.
The user says take a quiz and it pops up a window holding quiz1.html.
Within each page is a true/false question. Upon answering the user is told:
1. what they answered.
2. if that is correct or not
3. a corresponding sentence about the question.
4. an image the corresponds to if they were corect or not.
(This is all done in javascript).
----
However, now I want to take these 17 questions and randomize them and choose 6 questions.
For example:
The window pops up and it's question 1 they do that then move to the next one. 1-6 (random out of 17.
I'd like to do this in ASP.

I have a big asp file that has an error under certain conditions -- totally
repeatable. However, it only fails when I set response.buffer = True at the
top. WHen I set it False in order to debug it, it works every time! I even
set it to True, but did a .Flush just before the error, and the error won't
happen.
It only happens when response.buffer is True and no .response.flush is issued.
The error is a string variable turns-up empty and crashes a function
requiring a date. I could test for this before the line where it crashes,
but where did my data go? Why is the buffer affecting it?

I have a client who has had a ASP site with an Access database for several years. It stores information for the used cars on his lot. I have stored text in the database that points to the location of the image for each record. Each record will have a thumb image that is supposed to display in a list of vehicles available then the user can select an item from this list and a new page displays with the information and the regular size image. So far everything has worked fine exept for the display of the images which are stored in a separate directory called veh-photos. All I get are image place holders. I am using Dreamweaver 2004 and and Access 2000 for the database.
Following is the code to list vehicles: ....

1.I want to show a image file of type '.tif' in the browser window; for that I'm writting as ASP code page.
2.This '.tif' type image can be shown better with 'Kodak Image Control'.
3.To have this 'Kodak Image Control' on my code page I just add it's ..ocx to tool box and then drag it from 'Toolbox' to the page.
4.Now after dropping this control to the code it's type is getting changed to 'object' instead of type 'ImgEdit'(and I think this is the
reason I don't get correct result).
5.On one button's 'Onclick' event I'm calling a javascript function with which I'm setting a 'Path'and'Display' property of a control.
6.And want to show a image at location -- '..MFTDRCMF919685173-62.tif' which get shown in new browser window but could not get shown in that particular control. That means the path is correct, then what is the problem?
For better understanding of problem I'm pasting a following code which I've tried up till now......
