I'm looking for a method to upload a file from a site to the Unix server running my database. How can I connect this computer to create a file on it ? and can can I read
and write the files on it ? I'm able to upload to the server running IIS but that's not what I want.
Is there anyway to acess a file in a computer without being prompt with the password and username?
Imagine that i want to access a shared directory in another computer, if i type this in the START-RUN option, OtherComputerc$Temp, i will be prompt with the username and password, what i want to know is:
If i knew the user and the pass could i type a command like this,OtherComputerc$Temp@userpass (just an example), that it wont ask me the password and go directly to the directory? Code:
When I try to open an aspx file located on my computer it doesn't load properly (i.e not all objects are visible like text fields and such) and it gives me a syntax error stating that it expected a semi-colon (;) on one of the lines.
My page language is VB and so no semi-colon is required and when I load the file through my web server by typing
http://myIPaddress/myfile.apsx
the page loads correctly and functions normally.
Several hard drive formats ago I was able to open aspx files with internet explorer without going through my web server. I am pretty sure I have everything installed like IIS 5.1 and the .NET framework.

I want the user to show where the EXE-file on their computer is, so i can check version number, size and name of the file.
Do i need the user to upload the file to the server first before i can check version number, size and name?

View Replies View RelatedI have sucessfully able to copy file to a remote mechine in our network by writing some asp code. To make it sucessful, I had to keep destination folder in remote mechine as "Share" for IUSER that my ASP code running with.
I thought just giving the IUSER write permission on the destination folder will allow to copy the file. But it does not, I had to keep the folder "Shared". Is there any way that I can copy file to a remote mechine without havving the folder "Shared".
Is there a way to load a text file from a remote server into a string much like using the Inet Control in VB? I am familiar with reading in RSS feeds, but what should I do if the content is a straight text file?

I try wscript.shell in my program, but it dit not work.
The two machines are not in the same domain. I saw some people's
question but not suitable for me,their machine are in the same domain.

I'm having a problem with the fact that I want to allow image files to be uploaded to a remote web server, as the hosting package the web site is on is IIS6 and has a default file upload size limit of 200kb. As it's a shared hosting package, the default limit cannot be changed for me unfortunately.
Anyway - i need to check the size of the file being uploaded, so i can notify the user and prevent them getting the default Microsoft error message page. The problem is that I can't implement a server side size check which works, using either Request.TotalBytes or load.getFileSize (with "load" being an object of my loader class). It seems that I can't carry out any of these operations when the file size is too large.
I would like to add a facility to my web page which allows users to upload basic files (word, excel, text, gif, jpg etc) to the server.
I know there's a facility to do this using HMTL forms, but I don't know how to handle the file on the server side.
What I think I need is an ASP file running some code to manipulate the filesystemobject, allowing me to receive the file and store it in the filesystem on the server. It would be nice to access some of the file properties too (name, type etc).
I've seen a few custom components online which allow you to do this, but I can't depend on installing them. I need to be able to script it myself.

using a "INPUT-field of TYPE=file" to browse for file, and a extra submit button
to perform the actual transfer and start file-processing.

associated with it, which browses for the file and directly startes the
