Using Form Field Names In If Statements

I tried posting this a minute ago but timed out, so sorry if this is posted twice.
I want to make an IF statement in ASP using VBscript that will run if a checkbox in a form is checked (and won't otherwise). How do i refer to the form field (checkbox) in the IF statement to do this?

Request.form And Dynamic Field Names

Is it valid to get information from a request.form assign that to a value then use that value to get other content on the requested page.

I return a large rs with multiple feild names. I can't use a static feild def because they would overwrite each other on the loop, SO i create dynamic field names then pass the id back to the next page via javascript. I then use that id to add to the feild name to make sure I get the right feild.

Id = Request.Form("Id")

SQL STUFF

CheckedID=Request.Form("Name_"&Id)

Input Field Names

I have built input fields inside a while not.eof loop
and the name is built from using <%="name"&i%> and the value is a product_id
from the database.the i is then incremented in the loop, resulting in <input name="name1, <input name="name2
and so on. this works no probs, however i haven't got a clue on how to collect this dynaimcally named
input field when it arrives at the form action address page.
I was thinking some kind of for loop but am not sure, and again am not sure where to put the <%="name"&i%> bit
to count or grab the input fields info.

i.e newname= REquest.Form(<%="name"&i%>)

The 1st row contains the field names:

Orion.Accounts.AccountName,Orion.Accounts.Address1

the code I use normally works:
<%=rs("Orion.Accounts.AccountName")%>

Although in this case is doesn't because the fieldnames contain full stops.

how to modify this line:
<%=rs("Orion.Accounts.AccountName")%>

SQL Keywords And Field Names

Does anyone have a definitive list of keywords to avoid or prohibit as field names for the tables for an ASP driven program that communicates with a SQL database?

I have a website that allows customers to define tables online and I keep hitting the field names I need to prohibit - "Function" is the latest one. I'd like to just compare the users field names with a list and end this problem for good! Also any VBScript words too?

Will ASP Query Be Slow If Field Names Are Lengthy?

I have an Access database with 58 fields in one table. I wrote many
of the field names so that they were descriptive so that others could
figure it out in the future. As an example, one field name is called
MissingPart14990aDescribe.

Should I be worried about the length of the field name? I'm expecting
about 20,000 records a year to be entered into the database. So, five
years from now, which would be about 100,000 records, will the
query.asp for a list of records be slow due to field name size? BTW,
the query.asp would just show a list of the last 3 months worth of
records and only a snapshot of about 6 of the 58 fields.

How To Retrieve Form Values, When Form Elements' Names Are (almost) Unknown?

I have a form that is dynamically generated since it is populated with values retrieved from a database. The form can of course also be submitted, which is where I run into some problems.

Since I never know in advance what the length of the form (or for that matter what the different elements' names and values) will be I don't know how to write the code in "receive.asp" to retrieve all values from the form correctly without excess use of "request.....".

I shouldn't have to write requests for every single potential element name that is stored in the DB. Please note that the form can sometimes also contain radio buttons and check boxes, even though they are not present in this short example Code:

(The hidden value (1 for example) would then automatically get passed to the
other input field.)

The code for the text field that allows users to type an number into it for
submission to the db is below, but what code do i need within the hidden
field to populate this text field below so that users do not have to type the

Getting Form Element Names

I have a dynamic form sending information via name=value pairs.I know I can read the value of each element in the sending form by using the following....
for i = 1 to request.form.count
response.write "<p>" & request.form(i)
next

but since it's a dynamic entry page (it's built based on number of fields in a database), I need to know the name of each element also.not just the value. Is there a good way to get the "name" portion of the element on the form without having to parse through the request.form string?

Server-side Enumeration Of Form Object Names And Values?

Is there a way (and can you give me a very brief example or point me to one)
to go through all the form objects sent by a PUT to determine what the form
object names were and the values sent?

I need to do this with VBScript on a "classic" ASP application.

Request.Form doesn't seem to do it. While I can tell how many objects were
sent (Request.Form.Count) and what the value of each object is
(Request.Form(I).Item or simply Request.Form(I)) to some degree, I can't
seem to nail down the object name.

Also, I noticed that a <button> field with an embedded <img> returns the
image when queried by Request.Form(I).Item.

Form Field Form Submit

I have a form that has approximately 7 text fields and 1 checkbox.
Generally when this form is submitted(to itself BTW) it works fine,
however, when the checkbox is only field that has been
modified/clicked the form doesn't always submit. When it does work, a
Stored procedure is passed form variables and updates to the db are
made. When it doesn't, its as if the form wasn't submitted, it
reloads and resets the page, but the stored procedure isn't triggered.

Form Field Validation?

We have a shared hosting plan (Windows-based) with GoDaddy.com. GD.com has a
"generic" form mailer script (gdform.asp) that allows us to set up a
"Contact Us" page, which, when the user clicks "Submit" sends an email to
us.

I am a complete newbie re asp, but looking at the code, it looks to me as if
a error is generated if any of the fields are left blank--which is good. I
don't want to be getting emails that don't contain messages, or that don't
contain a return email address.

However, submitting a completely blank form results in me getting an email
with blank response fields.

Can you take a look at this code and tell me if it should be allowing blank
fields to be submitted? Are there any changes that can be made? Code:
