how to view my database without making it a webpage for everyone to see. I would like to create a form and intake client name and phone number but I don't want the information available to the publicc to view. Is this possible. I use frontpage2002, windows millenium, and asp and frontpage extensions.
On a shared hosting account, I've got access to an SQL 2000 database on a remote server. Stats are data size: 12MB, Log Size: 25MB. I set it up five years ago, and, uh, forgot how I set it up...
Anyway, I need to be able to view and browse the structure of my SQL 2000 database - and it would be nice to do it with an interface like a Microsoft Access style GUI? I need to be able to see what tables, columns, etc. my db contains.
Is there a web-based, or client-based, interface I can use that will allow me to view and browse my SQL 2000 database? (Would it be easier if I had my web host provider convert it to SQL 2005?)
I understand that the variables I define inside the subroutine are local only to the subroutine. If the same variable is defined outside the subroutine, it won't conflict (right?) What about variables that are defined outside the subroutine, but not inside? Are they available inside the subroutine?

What is the "right" way to redirect to an internal server from the outside? In other words, users can connect to my website and then I need to be able to redirect users with the correct login to a server with an internal address (10.x.x.x). Obviously I can easily redirect them with the address, but the idea is to protect the internal address from the outside.
I tried linking from the public site to a script page that simply redirects to the internal address, but the internal address still appears in the address bar and I don't know how to map it to a name without every user needing a host file entry. Anyone know of a way to do this? Basically the purpose of this is to allow external users to connect to an internal server to view proprietary data.
I havent got any hosting and I was wanting to test out my pages, I noticed you can set up microsoft personal server using microsoft front page on your pc but i havent managed to get it to work.

I inherited a site - www.highparkclub.com/curling.asp . If you look at any of the schedules - and you don't have excel installed it gives you the option to view or save the file.
For Mac users - this causes even more problems, as the link does not work at all. Is there a simple way to correct this, or do I need to associate the file type with the link.

Im having a problem in viewing date, does ASP have a function to format a date like this one (ex.12-Dec-05) aside from VBgeneralDate, VBlongDate and VBshortDate. In MS Access its called (Medium Date) but when I use VBmediumDate there is no effect at all. btw im using MS Frontpage and MS Access as my database.
I have localhost on my pc and its working. I use it to test all my asp pages, before uploading to the server. I have a web connection with a dsn connection. When tested on my pc it works fine. but as soon as i upload it to the server, it looks as if it doesn't get the data from the access database. I created exactly the same dsn on the server as on my pc, so why is it not working?
dsn name: pscs-db.mdb
is there something wrong that i'm not seeing or is the problem more complicated.
We have the following problem: There is a RTF file that must be viewed on browser and we have been developed a solution in Java to do it.
but the Java's VM is so bigger for download. So, we need a way to view this file in client side without bigger downloads. Any help will be welcome, because we work more than a month in this problem.
As I ran in to errors like "Ran out of memory" and "Out of memory" I supposed my website might have memoryleaks. To trace a potential memory leak I isolated the IIS process and monitored the 'Virtual Bytes' and 'Private Bytes' for a while.
I noticed the private bytes stays 'low' all the time. Sometimes a bit up, sometimes a bit down. Virtual bytes also follows the same pattern for most times. But, sometimes it increases to almost 2gb en stays there.
I've been reading for memory leaks an aggressive caching and stuff and was wondering when there is a memory leak. In short: what does it mean thet the amount of virtual bytes stays high? Is this probably due to caching or....?
is there an easy way of viewing the files in a directory without using "server.MapPath"!!! i need to view Doc files in a folder and then open them in IExplorer to print the matter in them...
Is there a method in ASP, which allows you to note how many users are currently viewing pages on your site.
I understand that there is a way of knowing if the user has actually logged onto the system, as I am sure you can detect how many members are actually signed in using I think global.asa file If I am right. I am sure you could also do it via an sql query if memberid=true, I am sure you could output how many members are true, returning a numbered value.
But is there a method of detecting how many viewers are actually connected to your site, without them actually being logged in? i.e non-members.
Also, how many hits to the site would be good, however this is an inaccurate reference, as a simple refresh would add 1 to the value, is there a method to prevent this, off the top of my head I would think a detect via the ip address? however some ip addresses change depending on there ISP.
This problem occured just the other day. Whenever I try to access an .asp file on my server with an exact url, I get an error: The system cannot find the file specified. BUT, if I type in an url to a folder containing a default file (in my case, index.asp) the file is shown correctly .....
Is there any way of viewing a list of stored procedures from a database.for example i state i which database i am looking at and it returns a list of stored procedures.
Can I make somebody else view my webpage, that i made in asp-mysql on anohter machine? I tried to give my ip address to another person to view my page. But it doesnt work. i tried as : http:ip-addresslogindb.asp?
To run ASP on my machine i had to change my port for localhost to 8888 from the original. Before changing it to 8888 it was giving 'in use...' error. I got asp functioning when i changes my port to 8888. Now when i want to make others view my page can I do it?
If yes, then i was wondering why would we need space to host a website (small scall). I can always make my machine as the host machine and no need to buy space and all? do i need to make any changes to my IIS setting for any 2nd person to view my login page?
I am wanting to display a sheet from an excel file. I dont need to change/update it, just a simple display. Somthing like the 'Print Preview' you get in excel (that would be perfect).
i cant display the top row of the excel file. also if i try and access a cell that is empty i get an error. I need to display all cells from A1 - G60 if they have data in them or not.
I have a form that end-users upload files on, into a folder on my server. I want people in my company to be able to go into our intranet, and view the upload files, and be able to download them.
It Works Well When ...
It works perfect when someone has a file with no spaces in the name. So files like document.pdf or document_1.pdf display fine, and are easily downloadable. When this happens, the URL when you put your mouse over the link is http://www.mycompany.com/extranet/uss/document_1.pdf -- so it's easily downloadable.
The Problem:
When an end user uploads a file with spaces in it, such as document 1.pdf. When this happens, and you put your mouse over the link, it will display as "http://www.mycompany.com/extranet/uss/document" .... and then it doesn't have a file extension or anything; it ends where the space ends, so you can't download it. Code:
I want to take in a user id passed from a specific asp page "login.asp" and query and SQL Server Database & display result of this query on to another for "UserWorkspace.asp".
I need to know how can I establish this, i.e., how do I pass the parameter to the UserWorkspace.asp form.
