Random Shuffle Array Of Card Objects Which Does Function Of Deck
Oct 26, 2014
I have to random shuffle an array of Card Objects which does the funcion of a deck. Heres the code:
Java Code:
public void barajear(){
int j;
for (int i=0;i<52;i++){
j=Baraja.random(51);
if (this.mazo[j]==null){
this.mazo[j]=this.arreglo[i];
}else{
--i;
}
}
} mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
so bassically theres an array called "arreglo" which has the cards in order and the function "random" its an rng of numbers from 0 to 51.what i'm trying to do it's to take the cards from the ordenated array and put them randomly in the other but only if it's empty.(the array "mazo" has alredy been initialized with null).it worked at first, but now, after compiling succesfully i tried to run it and the cmd just...

So I'm trying to make an applet that displays images of cards. The applet has a deck of 52 playing card images. It should shuffle the deck with a random number generator and display the first 10 cards of the shuffled deck.
With this code I have about 100 errors and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong: I know I have to use arrays in order to ultimately display the images, but do I have to create Image objects for the Image [] cards array? I am getting many "class, interface, enum expected" errors as well as others.
import java.util.Random;
import java.awt.Image;
import java.applet.Applet;
import java.awt.Graphics;

For a project we have to "shuffle" items in an array using random numbers. We are supposed to generate random numbers and use those numbers to exchange array elements. But I am not sure what that means, "exchange array elements". Does that mean you generate 2 random numbers within the length of the array, and then switch the items at those locations in the array?

"In this assignment you will use an applet to display images of playing cards. The applet should load a deck of 52 playing card images from the "images" folder that you downloaded. The applet should shuffle the deck (use a random number generator) and display the first 10 cards of the shuffled deck. Display the cards in two rows of five cards each."
That is my goal for this assignment. I've got my code compiling and I will post it below and I've got an html page but when I try to open it I get an error

import java.awt.Image;

I created the below code and it works fine. It is a deck card game. I just want to divide my code into classes so that it seems more organized.
Java Code:

import java.awt.GridBagLayout;
import java.awt.GridLayout;
import java.awt.event.ActionEvent;
import java.awt.event.ActionListener;

I redid my entire code to use array-lists instead of just arrays my professor finally got back to me and said he doesn't want us to use lists. The assignment is to create a CardGame driver class, then create a "card" in a card class, then a "deck of cards" in a DeckOfCards class, shuffle, and deal 5 random cards and "deal a card and report the number of cards left in the deck". That last line in quotes is what I do not know how to do.
Also, I renamed a lot of variables via some suggestions and the assignments states "Make sure to write the appropriate constructors, getters, setters, toString and other methods as required for both classes." I think they're appropriate. Should I change some of he methods to better getters and setters identifiers?
Here is my code.
import java.util.Random;
public class CardsGameTest {
//execute application.
public static void main(String[] args) {
DeckOfCards myDeck = new DeckOfCards();
myDeck.shuffle(); //shuffle cards.
[code].....
The instructions also say to "print each card as it is dealt" does that mean 5 cards one at a time? Anyways, I was thinking that in the driver class I could add a for loop to the for loop and as it deals a card it could run through the second for loop and print how many cards are left in the deck.

I've been trying to get a card generator working, but hells bells nothing is easy in java (unless you already the correct answer) trying to figure out the correct way to apply a method you don't understand is like being asked for the German word for banana in Spanish class.
import java.util.Random;
import java.util.Scanner;
class jacktest
{
public static void main ( String[] args ) {
Random r = new Random();

my next step might be using object (hammer >=computer)=watch telly instead.

I'm trying to create a program that will be able to generate random Bingo cards. This is what I have so far.
Java Code:
import java.util.Random;
public class BingoCard
{
private int[][] card;
public BingoCard(Random random)
{
card = new int[5][5];
for (int c = 0; c < 5; c++)
[code]...
The problem with this program is that even with the checkForDuplicateValues method, which checks for duplicate values of a column and replaces the values, it still prints out bingo cards with duplicate values!

in my progrm there are three diff array of objects...namely garments..gadgets and home app...now one who buys from each of these sections will have to make a bill at last...when he choses to make the bill he will be shown the list of products he bought and their details (like price...brand...etc)...so i thought that while he orders each product(which is done in a previous method called purchase()...)....(each product is stored as an object in there diif arrays namely garments...gadgets ...appliances)....each of those object will be copied in a new array in a diif class...then that array print will give me the desired result...
is this approach correct...?and if its correct then how can i pull out a specific obj frm a stored array of object and then save it in a new array....?

So I'm making a trading card game and each card can be moved around like chess pieces. So far, I've made the cards simple rectangles and detect if clicks are made within that rectangle and then move them appropriately, but I'm not sure if that's the best solution.

So I have a program for a project that permutes a random series of numbers using Java's Rand function. Basically I use a seed and a number of items I want in the arrangement of numbers, and the program makes a permutation with no two numbers being repeated. Only arrays can be applied to it, so I've been hard at work finding a solution.
Here's the code so far:
public static int permutation[];
public static void permute(int numOfItems, int seed){
permutation=new int[numItems];
Random rand = new Random(seed);
permutation[0]=rand.nextInt(numItems-1);
[Code] ......
So basically I'm wanting the program to make a randomized list of numbers from the number of items I pass to the Permute method with no duplicates. I'm having some level of success with what I have written, as it gives me a randomized list when printing the output, but for some reason the first for statement in code never terminates fully, but instead runs indefinitely when generating the last integer.
For example, if I want to put 10 with a seed of 0 into it and make a list from 0-9, it will print 74283510, which is only 8 different integers. permutation[0] is manually set at the beginning of the method, which accounts for one more, but that's still only a list of 9, so I'm just wondering why the last integer is not being generated and why the program keeps looping and not terminating? I'm know for sure it's something I'm overlooking.

I cannot figure out why my buttons don't work. I believe my problem is in the flip function. I am very new to programming and I am about as good at code logic as I am at real logic lol. Also I am lost on how to go about making the coin stop on a random heads or tails.
Coin cF;
void setup() {
size (600, 600);
cF = new Coin(0,0,0);
}
void draw() {

So I need to generate 10 random integers in the range 1-20 but i have to store them in an array called numbers. Then I have to call a method called displayArray which displays the contents of the array and for the assignment i have to use a for loop to traverse the array. The method header for the displayArray method is:
public static void displayArray(int[] array)
This is what I have done
public class RandomIntegers {
static int numbers = 0;
public static void displayArray(int[] array) {
System.out.println(numbers + "Numbers Generated");

filling out a Random array: An Array of Specific Length Filled with Random Numbers This time what I need to do is take the elements from this Random array and assign them to a new Byte array:
for(int i = 0; i < limit-10; i++) {
Random dice = new Random();
int randomIndex = dice.nextInt(array.length);
if (array[randomIndex] < 128) {
System.out.print(array[randomIndex] + " ");
} else if (array[randomIndex] >= 128) {
System.out.print(array[i] + " ");
}
}
byte[] noteValues = new byte[]
{ 64, 69, 72, 71, 64, 71, 74, 72, 76, 68, 76 }; //This is the byte array filled manually!
I've tried amending the manual input to fit in with the Random array, as follows:
byte[] noteValues = new byte[]
{ array[randomIndex] };
In this case, however, the Byte array can't interpret the int values. Also, if the Byte array is outside the 'for' loop, array[randomIndex] cannot be resolved.

Basically, it's to write a method that takes in, and then returns another array, whose first element is the average of the first two numbers, last element is the average of the last two, and then everything else is just the average of that index, the one before, and the one after. {1, 2, 4, 8} would return {1.5, 2.33333, 4.66666, 6}.I'm currently getting everything fine, except am not getting the last number (i.e. '6').
public class Arrays {
public static void main(String [] args){
double [] a1 = {1, 2, 4, 8};
for (int i = 0; i < a1.length; i++)
System.out.println(a1[i]);

Write a function that will add the contents of a String array.
1. This time the input array to your function will be an array of Strings.
2. Your function body will be similar except you'll have to convert each String to a double number.

String aryVals[];
double result;

I am having difficulty with a sorting routine. I believe that the concept is valid (although not necessarily the most efficient), but I keep running into a problem. I am trying to use the compareTo function to identify the relationship between two values in an array, but it seems to have an issue with it being a comparison of two float values.
Java Code:
for (int x = 0; x < 430; x++) {
for (int y = 0; y < 430; y++) {
if (dataArray[y].compareTo(dataArray[y + 1]) > 0); {
tempOpen = dataArray[y];
[Code] ....
It gives the compile error as follows:
File: C:UsersBradDownloadsAssignment 3Calculations.java [line: 157]
Error: Cannot invoke compareTo(float[]) on the array type float[]

I am supposed to create a method that simulates a perfect shuffle of a given array of integers. According to the assignmment, this is what a perfect shuffle is:
This procedure is called a perfect shuffle if the interleaving alternates between the two half-decks.Unfortunately, the perfect shuffle comes nowhere near generating all possible deck permutations.In fact, eight shuffles of a 52-card deck return the deck to its original state!Consider the following perfect shuffle algorithm that starts with an array named cards that contains 52 cards and creates an array named shuffled.
Initialize shuffled to contain 52 empty elements.
Set k to 0.
For j = 0 to 25,
− Copy cards[j] to shuffled[k];
− Set k to k+2.
Set k to 1.
For j = 26 to 51,
− Copy cards[j] to shuffled[k];
− Set k to k+2.
This approach moves the first half of cards to the even index positions of shuffled, and it moves the second half of cards to the odd index positions of shuffled.The above algorithm shuffles 52 cards. If an odd number of cards is shuffled, the array shuffled has one more even-indexed position than odd-indexed positions. Therefore, the first loop must copy one more card than the second loop does. This requires rounding up when calculating the index of the middle of the deck. In other words, in the first loop j must go up to (cards.length + 1) / 2, exclusive, and in the second loop j most begin at (cards.length + 1) / 2.

I have about 100,000 (N) random long variables in an array. I'd like to find if any two longs are equal; they're not expected to be. At this size, should I use the Hashtable or brute force it at a cost of N^2/2?

What the fastest way to sort an array of random integers. My instructor told me to look into an algorithm that uses 2n, but that is all he gave me. I am unable to find anything of the sort (pun intended there) on google, in my text, in my other java books or on here. The only thing that I have come up with are things like mergesort with the exception that the indicies of the Array have to be even. The program that I'm writing takes user input for a minimum to maximum range, the amount of numbers to fill the array in that range, and verbose.
I've tried bubbleSort but it takes forever to sort under the conditions below. I have seen a sorting algorithm that uses n (log n) but didn't really understand how that one worked.
Using the 2n algorithm, I should be able to test the range from 1 - 1000 and have it populate an array of of 1,000,000 random integers. It should be able to complete in a matter of miliseconds.

I am writing a program that creates an array with random numbers. Then the user can choose what number of the array he/she wants to check the occurance of. This works fine, but the numbers generated seems very weird, only 2 of the 10 possible numbers are generated. 0 and one of the other 9 numbers, the 0 is always 10100 and the other one is always 101.
