I am having troubles with allowing the user to input operations/digits until they want to exit, I have tried looping, but I was unsuccessful, came here hoping to figure this out.Currently I have it ending with Break statements after each switch so that they don't coincide all together.. I can't figure out how to keep the Break statement AND loop to previous code of System.out.println( "Please enter an operand which you would like me to calculate with :");
String st = input.next();
c = st.charAt(0);
System.out.println( "I will need for you to input two integers and I will output the result.");
System.out.print( "Enter first integer to calculate: " ); // prompt
number1 = input.nextInt(); // read first number from user
System.out.print( "Enter second integer to calculate: " ); // prompt
number2 = input.nextInt(); // read second number from user
and allowing it to run through the rest of the program with the options still in tact, while having an if statement of an exit keyword.
I need the user to be able to input a number, and for the program to assign this value to an 'int' variable. I know how to do this with a 'string' variable:
Java Code:
String options = JOptionPane.showInputDialog(null, "In your decision, how many options do you have? " +" (NOTE: The maximum number of options = 5, and you must enter your answer as a numeral.)"); mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
But I need to know how to do this with an 'int' variable.
I was tasked with building a program that counts vowels in a phrase or word. I have this working properly, but the problem arises in the next situation. Here is my code:
Scanner userInput = new Scanner(System.in); int userDecision; String Choice; String Phrase; int vowelCount = 0; System.out.println(" This program will count the number of vowels in it.
[Code] ....
As you can see, I used a 'for' statement to declare how long the program should run. However, I need the user to be able to say when it ends. For example, at the end of the program it must say "There are ______ number of vowels in your word. Please press '1' to run the program again, or any other number to exit."
I understand a do-while loop is needed here, but every time I try and create an adequate loop with no logic errors, I either break my existing code, or the program does not work correctly.
Basically, my question is, what is the best way to perform this task? Is a do-while loop necessary, or is there a better way?
I am starting a program that is dealing with arrays. My issue, allowing a user to enter 'x' number of people into an array. How do I first allow them to enter the size of an array, and then enter strings (list) into that array. In addition to this, I need to specify the number of boxes of cookies sold by each person and keep a tally of the number of people selling cookies in each category (e.g. 1-10, 11-20...etc). Instead of having a number 100000, I want the user to enter that size, 'x'.
import java.util.Scanner; public class cookie { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in); int x = 100; double saleCount[] = new double [x]; String[] girlScout = new String[100000];
I just want to know how I can get my program to end when the user inputs "0." By using: System.exit(0);
import java.util.Scanner; public class TestCode { public static void main (String [ ]args ) { Scanner console =new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println("To exit program input 0"); for (int y = 1; y < 11; y++ ){ // Executes output 10 times
My question is how can I make the program repeat until the user enters the number 4 to exit?
/** * Write an application for a furniture company; the program determines the price of a table. Ask the user to choose 1 for pine, 2 for oak, or 3 for mahogany. The output is the name of the wood chosen as well as the price of the table. Pine table cost $100, oak tables cost $225, and mahogany table cost $310. Also ask the user to specify a
(1) large table or a (2) small table.
Add $35 to the price of any large table and add nothing to the price for a small table. Display the output. Your program must repeat until the user chooses to exit.
*/ import java.util.Scanner; public class Wood { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner input = new Scanner (System.in); System.out.println ("Table Prices");
Write a java program that will ask a user to input grades until the user inputs the sentinel value -1. The program should test each input to determine whether 0<=grade<=100. If the grade entered is within this range, the program should print "Grade accepted;" if not, the program should print "Invalid input".
I have been struggling with this program for weeks. This program is supposed to take a user's inputted odd number and then print out all prime numbers lower than that number.
public class PrimeNumber { Scanner scan = new Scanner(System.in); int userNum; String neg;
class Client{ public static void main(String []args){ Bike R1=new Bike(5.0, 60.0,30.0);//create bike object with params Bike R2=new Bike();//without params System.out.println(R1.increaseSpeed());//calling methods System.out.println(R1.maxDistance()); System.out.println(R2.increaseSpeed()); System.out.println(R2.maxDistance()); } }
I have been coding in my class at school (Grade 11 Computer science) and i just downloaded the program on my computer at home, unfortunately i cannot access my computer notes at home and i also dont remember certian specifics of coding, so my question is how would i get user input to create a program. The comments are the parts i dont remember. (I am trying to slowly build my memory with this stuff)
Here is my code so far:
import java.util; [highlight=java] public class hello_world { public static void main(String[] args) { string name; //WHAT DO I PUT HERE????
I'm working on creating a dice game and getting the users input is giving me a really hard time. I have the main game working but this part I'm stuck on. The problem is that it's not giving me the chance to enter the second input when I ask for the game.
//Create Scanner object Scanner keys = new Scanner(System.in); //Get chips
[Code]....
*****This is what I get when I run it
run:
How much money would you like to change? 50
You now have $50 in chips.
What game do you want to play? You did not pick dice.
I have been given a piece of work to do for College that requires me to format user input. For example: This is an example of text that will have straight left and right margins after formatting
The user inputs the width, in the case above being 20. Each line has to therefore be 20 characters long. All spaces are to be replaced with full stops.
This.is.an.example.o f.text.that.will.hav e.straight.left.and. right.margins.after. formatting.......... public class Main { public static void main ( String args[])
ArrayList<Integer> leftCU = new ArrayList<>(); { System.out.println ("Please enter one at a time the number of CU's for each class that is left to complete. Enter Q when done."); leftCU.add(in.nextInt());

I created a scanner object but it's not asking for any input. when I create a new scanner and then tell it to print it it just prints a bunch of weirdness when AFIK it should be asking me to type something and then it should repeat what i entered.
I trying to get this code to get user input instead of reading from a hardcoded array. I'm getting compile errors while trying to get user input. Here's some of the code:
I would like to multiply the amount stated inside program by user input. I currently have
public static void setTicket(double ticket) { //if statement for tickets if (ticket == 1) Ticket = 10.00; else if (ticket == 2) Ticket = 20.00; else if ( ticket == 3) Ticket = 30.00;
The user should enter 2 and the value should show 20.00. This does work however im looking for a way to say enter 2 = 2*10 instead of stating each value individually.
