Amount Of Spell User Uses - How To Increment Initial Randomized Output

I created my own class and it basically randomizes the amount of 'spells' [magic] a user uses (range 1-5). I can't figure out how to increment the initial randomized output to make something like this :
User X : uses 2 spell.
User Y : uses 3 spells.
User X : uses 3 spells. (Taking the randomized 2 and increment by 1)
User Y : uses 4 spells. (Taking the randomized 3 and increment by 1)
My current setup looks like this : First one is the class I created and the second one is just how the output would look like. (seperate by +++++...)
My goal is to create a METHOD to increment it.

I am having an issue with using FileWriter to print some text to a text file. In the following code, I am supposed to be able to print the initial attributes and the user changed inputs into a file but all I am getting is the memory locations of the objects I created in one long line.

I've four classes object. I don't know how to display the amount paid by the user, and show the balance. The calculate button just show the total amount. Do I have to create another object class? And I've to show the bills too.

so I had to make a program that prompts the user to enter a loan amount and the years for the loan and I have the conversions and everything my only issue is that when the chart pops up it just looks like a bunch of numbers and its missing the column headers

This is the other code problem I have. The user should be able to enter the amount of digits the array should be shifted left. For example, if the user entered 3 and the array was 1 2 3 4 then it should return 4 1 2 3. here is my code.

I have a simple java program to write which tells the user combination of coins that equals to the amount of change i.e:
user input 87
output:
3 quarters
1 dime
0 nickels
2 pennies
How the program remembers the remainder which is passed to the next column of let say dime
i.e
originalAmount = amount;
quarters = amount /25;
amount = amount % 25; <---- this is confusing for me?!?! how can the integer = integer % 25
dimes = amount / 10; <--- HOW THE PROGRAM remembers the "remainder" instead of the original user input as the code it self tells you dimes = amount where "amount" is what user input NOT remainder.
amount = amount % 10;
so on ....;
What I don't understand is HOW this algorithm works. I mean we have int amount where user inputs the number we get the first calculation amount/25 = how many quarters and then amount %25 WILL tell us about the reminder. By looking at this piece of code I would say that the system should start the calculation for the dimes again from the original number since the code says dimes = amount/10 AND amount = amount%10. My understanding is that the calculation should be done from the original user input.
Book or code it self is not clear for me how the reminder is "REMEMBERED" and then pass on to the next calculation>!?!?
UNLESS the code: amount=amount%25 gets the remainder so the next code under it is REQUIRED to read from the last prompt code.

I cannot get the right output for my program. I need to get the total number of pennies in dollar amount for the output of Total Pay. This is my program. The directions are:
Write a program that calculates the amount a person would earn over a period of time if his or her salary is one penny the first day, two pennies the second day, and continues to double each day. The program should then show the total pay at the end of the period. The output should be displayed in a dollar amount, not the number of pennies. Do not accept a number less than 1 for the number of days worked.

I have 4 small applets on a page that simply prints out the quadratic equation for values passed in. There are 4 applets on a page that have different values assigned. They display fine.... sometimes.... if I refresh or generate new numbers sometimes one applet looks as though it has numbers overlapping the new values. If I resize or drag the browser everything displays fine again - no need to refresh the browser or anything. It's as though old values or something are being overwritten by the new or something similar is happening. What should I include in the paint method of the JPanel that might clear the applet before initial painting happens..... if anything?

I need to receive input from the user, as many times as he wants. tha is done with the while loop. I also need to output the min and the max numbers the user enters, therefore i have the if statememnts. also if the user enters only one value i need to output that one value as the min and the max.

I'm using one method to take input from the user and append some text to it, then I am trying to return the value of the variable and use another method to print it out. But for some reason whenever I try doing this I can't print out anything and I only get a "null" output. Why this is happening?

I have a project requiring me to build a program having a user input 3 words, sort them alphabetically and output the middle word. I have done some searching and seem to only come back with results for sorting 2 words. I so far have code to get the user input but I am completely lost as to how to sort them alphabetically.

I have a question related to the code below, that I do not understand. The aim is to count all files and subdirectories in an ArrayList full of files and subdirectories. So I have to count every file and every subdirectory.
The code concerning counting files is clear to me - every time d is of the type file I have to increment n by one. However I thought that I have to do the same thing in case d is a directory, so I would have written the same code for directories.
So what does "n += ((Directory) d).countAllFiles();" mean? In my understanding the method countAllFiles() is applied again on the object Directory ( as Directory is the class that contains this method), but how is n incremented by this? I thought n should be incremented by one as we did with files.

I'm attempting to increment the values by 1 in an array of objects but I'm not able to increment with the increment operator.

It just loops the value of hour without incrementing.
