Applet Java GUI Building To Display Words To User

Implement an applet that display historical facts. The applet will include facts from october 28 to december 4th to test the applet.
What is the best thing to add text in my GUI - JLabel, JTextArea? I am trying to display different words on my csFacts. Once a user click button yesterday and button tomorrow?

Write a menu driven program that either accepts words and their meanings, or displays the list of words in lexicographical order (i.e. as in a dictionary). When an entry is to be added to the dictionary you must first enter the word as one string, and then enter the meaning as separate string. Another requirement - from time to time words become obsolete. When this happens, such word must be removed from the dictionary.
Use the JOptionPane class to enter the information.
Use the concept of linked list to carryout this exercise. You will need at minimum the following classes:
- A WordMeaning class that hold the name of a word and its meaning.
- A WordMeaningNode class that creates the node of information and its link field.
- A WordList class that creates and maintain a linked list of words and their meanings.
- A Dictionary class that test your classes.
For the output, the program should produce two scrollable lists:
- The current list of words and their meanings.
- The list of the deleted words. You need not list the meanings, just the words.
So far, I have everything coded except for the remove method, and I am not sure how to code that. I coded the add method already, but now I don't know where to begin with the remove method in my WordList class. My classes are below.

The program is to accept a string and display all the palindrome words(the words that are same even if they are reversed-------->mom,madam,malayalam etc.)in the string.

So currently I am trying to use a JTextarea to display text and I then prompt users to type in certain words. I have a few problems that I have encountered. Firstly when I use setText and then if I say setText again after that it erases the previous text that was set. Ideally I want to set text once per line in my whenever a certain task is fulfilled. For example if the text says enter y/n, I want the program to go to the next line once I say y or n. Another problem of course is when I setEditable to true I can edit the whole textArea. I just want to be able to edit the line which I am currently at. Is there anything that I can use that mimics the ACM console program, or even the console down below in most IDE's where everything appears to be done line by line?
Also here is an example of what I am trying to do, along with comments:

URL....So the problem is that when I type in "PA" it will display about 24 Zips and Populations before it stops. The problem is in the ZIPs file. It goes down the list and then takes the Zip from the Zips file to the Zips in the Population file and displays the Population. It will go to population 513 and stop. Reason being, there is no ZIP code in the Population file to display a population. The loop then stops. How can I get the program to skip over the zip code when there is no corresponding ZIP code in the other file and continue showing the other Pops..Here's what I currently have completed:

I am currently taking a computer science class in high school, and its my first time programming (2 weeks since i started). I have currently finished my program however there were a few details that bothered me. I was supposed to create a program which can calculate average of individual marks and then calculate all of the average marks previously entered by user. However I noticed something that bothered me, which was the fact that if i were to enter a number when asked to enter a name, it would assume that number is a name. Also when I asked for the 5 marks the program would run fine until an error occurs if i accidentally type in a letter or word. I have done some research and found system scanners however i still don't understand the concept in a looping situation. Here is what I have so far.

I'm doing a project in which I must display prices of computer accessories in a Scroll Pane viewer. The if statements are all checkboxes. I am completely lost with how to print to the viewer if a checkbox is selected. Furthermore, I am also lost with how to add up all of the checkboxes.

So I'm trying to make an applet that displays images of playing cards. The applet should load a deck of 52 playing card images (the folder is called "images"). The applet should shuffle the deck (using a random number generator) and display the first 10 cards of the shuffled deck. I then have to display the cards in two rows of five cards each.
With this code I have about 100 errors and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong:

I have a project requiring me to build a program having a user input 3 words, sort them alphabetically and output the middle word. I have done some searching and seem to only come back with results for sorting 2 words. I so far have code to get the user input but I am completely lost as to how to sort them alphabetically.

This is a program to input a sentence and print the words that start with a vowel.......There is no syntax error but on executing and typing the sentence and pressing enter,I get a error saying :

I'm using the JOptionPane to display and receive information to/from the user. In addition to this, I am using StringBuilder to receive inputs from the user and then manipulate (append) that input to display the desired output.
//Example
(JOptionPane): "Enter text"
(user input): Java is cool!
(program): *stringBuilder.append(" I love it!")
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog( );
.....
Psuedo-like code. The problem is that showMessageDialog(null, string) and not showMessageDialog(string, string). I want to display the enter text: " Java is cool! I love it! " in the JOptionPane. How do I accomplish this, since showMessageDialog only accepts (null, string).

I have returned with yet another problem but I think this one might be a bit easier to fix.
So the whole MO of this program is to take user input, and display the sum of the digits of the number they entered. I am supposed to do this by utilizing methods. So far this is what I have and when I compile it tells me that it "cannot find symbol", which I don't understand as I define what "m" is in the for loop. The other error is that it says:
"Exercise6_2.java:22: error: incompatible types: possible lossy conversion from long to int
return result;

I don't understand why it's giving me this error nor do I understand why result seems to inherently be an int. (Also the public static int sumDigits(long n) method was given to me by the book so that is what I am supposed to use).

I am using a GUI to display search results based on user's input server name. I am using MS Access as DB and I have the DSN set up correctly.But the search results are displayed for the first typed value in text filed. I am getting same result set every time though i input different server names .

I am trying to write a program that asks the user to enter a number from 1 through 10 and then the program will display the roman numeral for that number.
I am also adding a error message in which i haven't yet because im still trying to figure out how to the program will do the roman numeral.'

For a project I have to create an online survey, I cannot use a per-made online survey system because I have really specific needs that no pre-made system can satisfy, so my idea would be to create it in java and store the data in some simple text file, which are fairly easy to work with in java. My question is, is it possible, and if yes how difficult is it, to put the entire thing online? What worries me isn't putting the applet itself online, but the text files that should collect the data, I already have the website to host it.

I like to know how to write root function in java applet. I know it in java function. Ex:

If I execute above said formulae with out "Math.sqrt" results are ok. If I used then results shows ZERO.

I am trying to go about making this applet a bit different then normal. The issue I am having is it is drawing an applet but, not the right dimensions, it's able to be resized, lastly the background color is not being set. I mean, I suppose I could call paint() and just draw it out but, I read that I could make the applet pop out to the dimensions I would like. None of this is working sadly.
