Array Of Objects To Create 3 CDs (music) - Moving Songs?
Oct 17, 2014
Do I need to use inheritance for this type of program? How to move my song list in main to songs and from songs to cd to make 3 separate cd's.
I have 3 classes: main, Cd, and Song. I am having trouble moving the songs from main to the song class and from the song class to Cd.
package p2;
public class Main {
public static void main(String[] args) {
String tempStr;
//array for song names
String [] songNames={

The assignment is to: Use arrays to create an applet that lists five of your favorite songs.
The applet should scroll the list of song titles, one at a timeeach song title should start at the top of the applet and scroll to the middle then, scroll off the right hand sideeach new song title should scroll in a different colourthe applet should loop, that is, when it gets to the end of the list, start over again at the beginning of the list
I already have it looping the text with different colors. It's just they all loop at the same time. How to loop them separately. How to switch the program to where the strings will change with content and color on each loop that would work too.
Here is the code I got so far:
import java.awt.*;
import java.applet.Applet;
public class FavouriteSongs extends Applet implements Runnable
{
String[] Songs = {"Travelling Man-Chameleon Circuit", "Sing-Ed Sheeran", "It's Time-Imagine Dragons", "I See Fire-Ed Sheeran", "Colder Weather- Zac Brown Band"};
int yPos = 0, xPos = 50;
Thread runner;
[Code] .....

I have an assignment for my intro class that requires me to read from a file that is a list of songs, their artists, and the year they were released. As seen below, a print line statement prompts the user to enter an artist name, and then it uses a buffered reader to gain input, and then it is supposed to match that input.I realize that this is not a complete statement, but I'm mostly concerned with getting the .indexOf statement to work.Currently it only returns the first object in the array.
for(int i = 0; i < song.length; i++) {
System.out.println("Enter an Artist name");
String input1 = kb.readLine();
if (song[i].getArtist().indexOf(input1) > -1) {
/*tried changing -1 to -2. When I do, it returns the
first array entry, regardless of what I input*/
System.out.println(song[i].toString());
}
}

Im looking for a means to store groups of static data..
so I understand these simple string arrays...
Java Code:
private static String[] names = new String[] {
"aidanmack",
"johnsmith"
}
private static String[] ages = new String[] {
"30",
"30"
} mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
But can I not combine that into an array of objects? something along the lines of what you would do with json? like...
Java Code:
private static array[] multi = new array(){
{"name":"AIDANMACK","age":"30"},
{"name":"johnsmith","age":"31"}
} mh_sh_highlight_all('java');

How can I do the work below in Java
In this main class, create 5 objects of the class Menu, as defined in the table below.
Name amount of calories cooking time price per person number of drinks
Fufu and Groundnut Soup 564.65 2515.572
Red Red 345 12 9.980
Rice and Beef Stew 560.4 1512.651
Ga Kenkey and Fish 780 10 10.15 1
Banku and Tilapia 450.4 35 25.17 2
Exercise d
In your main class create an array of length 5, and store the 5 objects (Exercise c) into the array. You can use any name for your array.
From the array, use a loop to: Print the details of all the objects using the method you defined in Exercise b.
Exercise e
Use another loop to:
-Print only the name and cooking time of all the dishes that take less than 30 minutes to cook. Hint: you may use the getter methods for the name and cooking time attributes, and then, print these values (name, cooking time).
Exercise f
Use another loop to :
-Calculate and print the total price of all the objects (in the array).
-Calculate the total price of all the objects with VAT included for each dish (VAT rate is 17.5%).
Submission
-Create a folder with your index number as its name.
-Copy your Java Project folder into the created folder.
-Print a hard copy of your classes.
-Submit both soft copy and hard copy of your project

Let's say we have a matrics of coordinates:
(0,0) (0,10) (0,20)
(10,0) (10,10) (10,20)
(20,0) (20,10) (20,20)
And we have a class that draws a rectangle of 10 pixel height and 10 pixel width at 0,0 coordinates.
And we want to move with the arrows the rectangle but not to go off the frame.
The question is:
How can I do that if I draw another rectangle, it knows where is the other object and they not collapse. And so on, they move, but not collapse, just touch and stop.

I am receiving an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException for the following code, which moves a creature through a 2D array maze. I have altered the clauses of the first if statement for the four direct methods (north, south, east, and west) multiple times (i.e. x + 1 >= 0 && x > 0 && x - 1 > 0 && x < array.length...etc). However, while the code occasionally runs, more often than that it returns this exception. Catching the exception seems like a poor workaround though if worst comes to worst I'll do that.
I included only the relevant functions of the code:
public boolean goNorth(char[][] array) {
boolean success = true;;
x = getX();
//x = this.x;
y = getY();
//y = this.y;
if ((x - 1 >= 0 && x - 1 < array.length)
&& (y >= 0 && y < array[x].length)) {

I am making a project that should play, stop, and loop three different songs (not at the same time). I am calling this SoundPlayer class from my main class:
import javax.sound.sampled.*;
import java.util.*;
public class SoundPlayer {
List<AudioInputStream> songs = new ArrayList<AudioInputStream>();
int currentSong, currentPlayType;
[Code] ....
When my class calls setPlayType(2), which should make it play, I get the following runtime error:
java.lang.NullPointerException
at SoundPlayer.playSong(SoundPlayer.java:32)
at SoundPlayer.setPlayType(SoundPlayer.java:64)
at MainPanel$AListener.actionPerformed(MainPanel.java:60)

Line 32 is if(clip.isOpen()), but I'm pretty sure I instantiated clip properly in the constructor.

Is it possible to use a loop to create objects? I'm trying to put together a program (just as a way of learning) to run a horse race.
What I'd like to is have the user enter the number of horses they want in the race, and then create the objects as the user enters the various attributes of the horse (at least the horse's name), and then once all the instance variables have been set, create the first horse object and then move on to the second one, etc, until all the horse objects have been created.
I know I can't use something like a for loop to do it, so how would the code be writte

I'm trying to implement a playlist class that creates a playlist from songs that the user has entered. Basically, it'll have the following requirements:
There can be a maximum of 2 playlists.
Each playlist holds a maximum of 3 songs.
Can't be over 12 mins.
Can't be over 10 MB.
Can't use arrays (a real pain).
I'm really struggling with how to even go about this. I'll post majority of my code below, I know a lot of it can be condensed/improved but I'm just trying to focus on functionality at the moment.
Interface class:
public class Interface
{
Scanner console = new Scanner(System.in);
private SongDatabase database = new SongDatabase();
private Playlist playlist = new Playlist();
private int songCount=0;
[Code] .....
In short, the aspects that are relevant to the playlist functionality are the addSongtoPlaylist() method in Interface class, the getSong() method in SongDatabase class and the Playlist class.

For class, we need to create a word game using classes and objects.
The game is played in rounds. The player is presented with a word that is missing letters. The player has to fill in the missing spaces with their letter guesses. The words presented are chosen with a random number generator which has been provided for us. At the end of the game, the player is shown their score.
In steps, I have to:
-Welcome the player.
-Present the puzzle.
-Allow the player to fill in the blanks.
-Have the program check responses for correct/incorrect input.
-End the game if they have three misses, or continue if they complete the puzzle.
Now, to start, I have a class for the number generator, a class to store the array of 25 words, and a class for the game itself.

Then create a program called SphereTester that prompts the user for the radii of two spheres in meters. The program should display which sphere is larger and by how many cubic meters and display only four digits after the decimal point. I have the sphere class given to us for the assignment which is this:
Java Code: public class Sphere {
// instance variable (i.e., a field)
private double radius;
// constructor for the Sphere class
public Sphere(double r) {
radius = r;

I want to clarify it whether this below code, when running this loop, will it create separate string objects as strings are immutable or else, will it keep the same reference(as each time inside loop, we use the same name 'rslt') and assign new string value for this?
while(inc < numberOfColumns){
String rslt=rs.getString(inc+1);
rowArr[inc] = rslt;
inc++;

Web based program, basically a slide show template where the user uploads a series of photos, they are dumped into the pre-fabbed template of a predetermined set of transitions in sync with music. I will set the templates to transition based on the time stamp of the beat of the music at certain intervals. The end users will be able to then create their own slide show "movie" based on the templates.
Problems I see are the syncing between the music and the images loading. Wondering if it's doable client side or if I need to have it rendered server-side.

I am taking the Class Algorithms and Datastructures and got an assignment for Lab that really throws me off. The goal is to create an Array out of a given CSV file, implement several Methods that get the size of array, etc.
I am still stuck in the first part where the CSV has to be imported into the Array. My problem is that I need a mechanism that figures out the needed size for the Array, creates the array, and only then transfers the data from the CSV.
The list consists of the following wifi related values:
MAC-Adress, SSID, Timestamp, Signalstrength.
These are on the list, separated by comma. The Columns are each of these, and the rows are the four types of values making up the information on a certain wifi network.
The catch is, we are not allowed to use any of the following:
java.util.ArrayList
java.util.Arrays
and any class out of java.util.Collection.
So far I used the BufferedReader to read in the file and tried to implement the array, but I get an arrayindexoutofboundsexception.
Below is my Code (Its still an active construction zone):
public class WhatsThere {
public WhatsThere(String wifiscan) throws IOException {
}
public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
// WhatsThere Liste = new WhatsThere(String wifiscan);
String[][] arrayListe = new String[0][0];
