I am attempting to make a heart rate calculator program. Here is a little overview of what I am trying to do. It must use a constructor and get and set methods. It must print heart rate ranges and the user's information(age).

I am trying to make a calculator that ranges from simple math to trig. I am trying to start the j-frame for it and I already have most of the formulas programmed with the if-else statements and such. How do I go about starting the jFrame and marrying the 2 codes together to start it. (I have taken a bit of programming but relatively new to writing j-frames and using other classes and putting them together).

I had to make a program that allowed the user to enter the number of students and the students names and grades and then print out the name with the grade in descending order. right now I only have it where it prints the names out in descending order. how do I get it the print out with the grade?

I am new to Java an have to Create a program that keeps track of the following information input by the user: First Name, Last Name, Phone Number, and Age. Now - let's store this in a multidimensional array that will hold 10 of these contacts. So our multidimensional array will need to be 10 rows and 4 columns.You should be able to add and remove contacts in the array.

I am not sure how to incorporate the rate per month and the three rate zones.
Problem: Electricity billing charges vary with the season and amount used.
Southwest Power and Light provides electricity at the basic rate of $ 0.10 per kilowatt for the months December through February, 0.12 per kilowatt for the months of March through May, and 0.15 per kilowatt for the remaining months.
Customer billing is divided into three rate zones: 0-350 kilowatts, 351 – 500 kilowatts, and above 500 kilowatts. Usage up to 350 kilowatts is billed at the basic rate. Usage between 350 and 500 kilowatts is billed at 10% above the basic rate. Above 500, billing is 25% above the basic rate. These surcharges apply only to the usage falling within the respective rate zone.

Here is what im trying to do
Write a class that accepts a user's hourly rate of pay and the number of hours worked. Display the user's gross pay (gross pay = hours worked * hourly rate), the tax withheld (tax withheld = gross pay * tax rate) and the net pay (net pay = gross pay - tax withheld).Use a named constant for storing the tax rate of 0.15

My program is user input 20 char and the program will print the most common. So I use another int arr which count the number appears in the original array. i know its not so Effective but I don't know why it run but it stop in the middle. I got this code :

I've looking for information on taking a range of data from a google sheet such as the one below.

The function that i'm trying to accomplish is allowing a user to run the program and input their 5-digit Unique - ID. After inputting their 5-Digit ID the program will take that input, and check whether or not that ID is present on the spreadsheet.
Ex: (Using the numbers from above) I type in : "89504" then (I would want the program to spit out if the ID is on the sheet).
(89504 appears on the sheet) So i would want it to print out something like "ID is found on list "Cat".
Associated named include: "Phil Roberts".
I tried, with my limited knowledge, to create what I have described above.

The issue I have with the mock-up above is the fact that I have to manually add in every individual name and ID. I would much rather write code that would allow it to update as I update the spreadsheet. Therefore, no need for 800+ cases. (theres around 800 ID numbers for this project)
In a perfect world, the code would be something like "Take info from cells C5 - C2000 and store as string array" (I think array would work.) while also doing the same with B5 - B2000.

The point of this program is to read characters from a txt file and store them into a 2D array. After this has been accomplished, the information is to be printed in the same manner it is read from in the txt file.
Here is the code I have so far:

I need to write a program that will let a user input name, age, email, and cell phone number, and commit the input to a text file. They need to add multiple entries. I figured out how to create the file and write to it, but when the user enters a second set of information, the first is overwritten. How can I make the file be added to instead of overwritten? I'm using the JOptionPane to display and receive information to/from the user. In addition to this, I am using StringBuilder to receive inputs from the user and then manipulate (append) that input to display the desired output.

(JOptionPane): "Enter text"
(user input): Java is cool!
(program): *stringBuilder.append(" I love it!")
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog( );
.....
Psuedo-like code. The problem is that showMessageDialog(null, string) and not showMessageDialog(string, string). I want to display the enter text: " Java is cool! I love it! " in the JOptionPane. How do I accomplish this, since showMessageDialog only accepts (null, string).

I wanted to write a simple code that receives information from the user (double-digit number and above) and calculates it's numbers.
For instance- The user wrote a number- 234, the software will return the number 9 (2+3+4 = 9).
Tried to use a loop for that, but I got stuck since I didn't know what to write.

I am new to using arrays. I need to collect user input for book title, author, and # of pages... store that in an array... and then I'm going to need to be able to sort that array. The dialog boxes come up prompting the user for 5 sets of title, author, and # of pages, but when I try to display that information, it isn't working. I am assuming this means that it's not storing the information correctly... so I want to get this corrected before I even try to sort??

I am using following servlet code to store the logged in user information in the session.
session = request.getSession();
session.setAttribute("userName", userName );
session.setAttribute( "LoginId", loginId );
The information is getting stored in the session and i am able to retrieve the same for single user. The trouble starts when 2 user logged in from different browser (for example chrome, IE) from the same machine. The 2nd logged in user, overwrite the session information of first user.
How to prevent this.
My environment: Windows 7 64 bit, IBM websphere server, Oracle 11g, JSP, Sevrlet.

This program contains a superclass and a subclass that will gather the following information from the user:
name, address, phone number, and customer number.
Everything works fine except that I have to create a boolean method in this program that is required to determine based on user input whether they want to be added to a mailing list.
I cannot get this method to work with main, each time it is called it will always return the value but main will constantly read the last statement (else, where it will read "not wanting to be added to the mailing list).
The only way I can get this part of the program to work is by adding an equals method in main that ignores the case, but I am required to write a boolean method so this is not allowed.

In few words: there is a cell factory on the cell to show a colored box, then I added a tooltip to the cell. I need informations that are in the item added to the TableView that has type "Appuntamento". So I try to get my element with these code (that in others part of my code works); but here I get a Null Pointer Exception on cell.getTableView() and also on cell.getTableRow().
I'm probably using these methods in a way that was not expected.

I am trying to create a GUI with already existing code. My assignment is: Modify the Inventory Program to use a GUI. The GUI should display the information one product at a time, including the item number, the name of the product, the number of units in stock, the price of each unit, and the value of the inventory of that product. In addition, the GUI should display the value of the entire inventory, the additional attribute, and the restocking fee.
Where to start. The text book does not cover a GUI that displays this type of information rather it just displays graphics. I would like to create a separate class that holds the GUI information just to make everything flow better. I have provided my current code below:

My professor like us to make a salary, taxes and etc exercise. which we should type the name first then, input salary. then if we input the amount 8000 or higher. the system will ask another question about the marital status. and that is it.
My real problem is when we input 5000-7999 the system should ask a different question, stating do you want to pay for your premiums and a follow up of yes and no choices. if we input 0-4999 the system will just state that it is your current salary.... etc..

I'm working a an assignment for my IT/215 class and I'm having a little trouble with my arrays. My code compiles just fine but when it comes to displaying the information I've input into my array it doesn't seem to want to and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. On line 136 originally I had [DVDs [count] = count+1]] but it wouldn't compile. I then put line 136 to [ DVDs[count] = new Inventory();] and I think that's were my issue is but I'm not sure....

I'm making a program that displays information for "employee" objects of different types. This works with a hierarchy that goes Person→ Employee→ Fulltime/Adjunct, and a driver that tests the inheritance. The Person class is given and only supplies the name, the employee class manages the year hired and the ID, and the types of employee classes manage the salaries.
One object (called staff[2]) is supposed to first be printed with default information and then later updated via set methods. I figured out how to update the name, but I don't know how to update the rest of the information because the employee's name is managed in the Person class and the reset of the information is managed in the less-general classes, and the objects are all in an array of Person.
How do I call the set methods necessary to update more of staff[2]?Output (scroll to see the updating section)
