How To Find All Symbolic Link In A Directory In Windows
Sep 30, 2014I need to design a gui that will find out all the dead symbolic link from the directories. And I used the logic and syntax I find out in java orcle docs. And If I will give the direct path name of the symbolic file then it is running fine with the output and enable to find the smbolic link is active or not. Now the real problem is that , I want that logic of detection should run out through the complete files and subdirectories of the directory. So Then I used the tree walk concept to transver through the complete file system of the directory and embed the logic of the detection inside it for detection of the dead symbolic link. But now it showing erroe which is not approacable for me.

Cannot Reinstall Java On Windows XP
Nov 17, 2014Cannot reinstall java on this windows xp. Get an error -1 and install didn't complete. There are no java versions installed and apparently no java control panel either.

Nov 25, 2014I have 2 different apps, one of them is a java desktop app and the other one is a c# web app. which uses java applet in order to e-sign. The problem is desktop java app requires 1.5.0_14 and on the other hand web app. requires 1.7 and higher version of java.
I installed both java 1.5 and 1.7 versions on my PC. In order to run desktop java app., I go to C:Progra~2Javajre1.5.0_14in and run javacpl to disable 1.7 and enable 1.5. Then I make a shortcut to javaws 1.5.0_14 to my desktop and add the jnlp of this java app to the target of javaws shortcut. After those settings, the java desktop app. runs.
Now I need to also run the web app which requires 1.7 java. In order to run this app. properly Java 1.5 should be disabled, 1.7 enabled on the Java Control Panel settings. Problem is when you run this web app. the settings for 1.5.0_14 breaks down, I mean all of the java versions become enabled in javacpl under C:Progra~2Javajre1.5.0_14in directory. If I restart my PC, I need to reset the java versions. Is there a way to make this happen without a pain in the head?
By the way, I tried to use batch files etc. but not succeded.
How To Identify Default Java Heapsize In Windows
Sep 26, 2013Im running an eclipse application in my machine. I have two queries
1. I would like to know how to check the default heap size that the jvm is using to run the application.Im using a windows machine to run the java application. I tried to check the default heap size by the following way
ControlPanel--->Programs--->JavaSetting--> JavaTab -->View Button ---> JavaRuntimeEnvironment settings window ---> Userstab --> Value under RuntimeParameters
But in my system, there is no runtime parameters defined. Is there a command that I can execute via command prompt to check the default heap size in my machine.
2. How to increase the heap size parameter and run the eclipse plugin application from command prompt. For eg: To increase the heap size and execute the jar file we use the below command java -Xms64m -jar MyApp.jar. I would like to know how to set heap parameters and execute my java application which is an exe file. I tried to execute use the below command, but the command prompt doesnot recognise the command

May 7, 2014I am developing a JavaFX application under Java 8 on my Ubuntu 14.04 (32 bit) system. When I run it on the Ubuntu box, all is fine, but when I run it under Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) with the same Java8 release installed, all my buttons have their text ellipsised (sp?). Why the behavior is different? Or is this a bug in JavaFX? Here are the particulars:

Swing/AWT/SWT :: Running Application Using Java 1.6 And Windows-based X Server
Apr 15, 2011At our company we run a third-party Java-based GUI application on one of our Linux server machine, displaying the application to our local Windows work stations using the Cygwin X Server.We noticed a few problems with a new version of this application and was able to narrow it down to the following conditions:
1. Java Swing application running on a UNIX host;
2. Java used is 1.6 (problem not noticed when using Java 1.5)
3. Displaying to Cygwin X server (I've heard other windows-based X servers have the same issue, but I don't have access to any others at this time).
If we run the application natively on Windows, I'm told if the application runs on the Linux host and displays natively to that machine's display there are no problems (although I'm not able to verify this myself).The problems are:
1. Any new frame/dialog is opened in the geographic center of the dual displays, rather than in the middle of one or the other;
2. Any attempt to drag the window to a different location on the display seems to work, but as soon as you let go of the drag, the window snaps back to the original location. This only happens the first time you try to move each window.
3. Drop-down controls (JComboBox, for example) just close back up as soon as you click on them. If you click and drag the mouse to attempt to make a selection, no selection can be made.
Are these known problems using 1.6 on UNIX displaying to Windows-based X Servers?
The only real problem is number 3. I expect that if I put more work into the window placement, I should be able to get past number 1. Number 2 is just a minor annoyance.The following is a simple Java Swing application which when run in the correct environment will exhibit the problems.

I'm trying to run a downloaded exe program which uses the jre7 which I had to download beforehand. the font size stays at 6 or 8 even if I try to change it in windows settings. it's a high res monitor on a lenovo yoga laptop. is there a way for me to edit the java code and manually change the font size?

Java Math - Find Imaginary Number

double dem = (b*b-4*a*c)*-1;
double dem2 = Math.sqrt(dem);
realPart = (-b/(2*a));
imagine = (dem2)/(2*a);
imagineneg = (dem2)/(2*a);
So basically I am trying to get it that the number inside the square root isnt negative. So lets say I enter a: 1, b: -1, c: 4.25. When you do the discriminant it would be -16 but I want that to be positive so I multiple it by -1 (thats the dem part). Then I sqaure root the whatever the answer is and then go to the imagine and imagineneg part where you find the imaginary number.
My problem is that instead of it being -16*-1 to get 16, some how I get 15.

How To Find Out Minimum JRE Requirement For Java Program
Jan 26, 2014I finished a game in Java and sent it to a friend. Launching the program in my computer worked just fine.
But he got this error : "Could not find the main classs: Main. program will exit"
My JRE version is the most updated one. His JRE was version 1.6. He updated his JRE, and the problem was solved.
This is a bit worrying for me, because as far as I know, 1.6 isn't a very old version of the JRE. It's not the most recent one, but not that old.
This is worrying because I'm planning on sending my game to a lot of friends, and trying to distribute it on the internet.
A lot of people don't have the most updated JRE. And they are mostly non-programmers, so I can't expect them to update to the newest version of Java upon downloading my game. They might not know what Java is, even though they got it on their computer, and upon receiving an error, they'll just give up on the game.
If my game wouldn't work with a significantly old JRE, that would be reasonable. It's part of the nature of working with Java. But the fact that a relatively updated JRE, 1.6, doesn't work with my game, is worrying.
*(Please note: My game isn't implementing anything "special". Swing and KeyBindings are the 'newest' additions to Java that I can think of inside my game)*.
In short, I'd like to know that my game works on most of the computers it tries to run on. Knowing that it doesn't work on a relatively new JRE, is worrying.
So I have two questions:
1. Is it normal, for a Java program, to have such "high" demands for the JRE version? Do a lot of Java games demand at least version 1.6 of the JRE? Is this common?
2. How can I find out the minimum JRE version requirement for my program? Is there a methodical way to do this, or do I just have to go through all the libraries I use in my game and figure out what's the JRE release version for each one?
