Mar 2, 2014I have BlueJ installed on my computer and it does the job of compiling the java source code written in it. If I want to write and compile source code outside of BlueJ do I still need to download the Java SDK and set the PATH variable, even though I am apparently able to do it in BlueJ?

May 28, 2010I've just got a new computer and i tried to set the class path the way i did with windows xp but it's not working. This is what i have done. I added a Path variable to user variables and added C: Program Files (x86)Javajdk1.6.0_20/bin as the variable value. But when i got to command prompt and type javac HelloWorld.java it just tells me javac is not recognised as an internal or external command.
Also another problem is after trying this and it not working i tried to add a path to the system variables. I added a new path variable but i think once i did that it deleted the one that was already there. Is that going to mess up my computer? What the default path variable for windows 7 is?i've got the right destination as i typed cd to change directory and when i typed C: Program Files (x86)Javajdk1.6.0_20/bin it changed to that. And i noticed if i typed in the destination wrong its just made an error.
Java Code - Changing Text Size In Windows Settings
Apr 14, 2014I have a major problem. the text size is like 6 or 8 pt font and I can't read it. I'm trying to run a downloaded exe program which uses the jre7 which I had to download beforehand. the font size stays at 6 or 8 even if I try to change it in windows settings. it's a high res monitor on a lenovo yoga laptop. is there a way for me to edit the java code and manually change the font size?

Feb 28, 2014I have a requirement where I have to send a file from a local system to unix box(present on client side) using java code.I have developed a code that is successfully sending the file from local system to client side unix box (I am connecting to client side unix box using VPN) provided I run the code in my eclipse IDE present in local system. But when I am running the same code in the unix box it is throwing null pointer exception.Might be the unix system is not recognising the local system. Please find the code.

and I get the message

Morse Code Conversion - Variable Has Not Been Initialized
Aug 26, 2014I'm making a program that can read an input of English or Morse code and return an output of Morse code or English back. The English-->Morse works fine, but not Morse-->English. I'm pretty sure my solution lies in displaying the variable 'morseWord', but no matter where I put it, I always get an error saying the variable has not been initialized. Use Relative Path In Place Of Absolute Path
Nov 7, 2014I am copying the xml files from one folder to other folder, in the source folder, i have some files which have some content like "backing File="$IDP_ ROOT/metadata/iPAU-SP-metadata.xml" but while writing to the destination folder.i am replacing the "$IDP_ROOT" with my current working directory. The entire copying of files is for deploying into tomcat server. The copying is done only when server starts for the first time.Problem: If i change the folder name from my root path in my machine after i run the server,the entire process will be stopped because the destination folder files already contains the content which is with existed files names or folder names.
So i want to change it to relative path instead absolute path. What is the best way to do it? Please look at code below:

Nov 25, 2014I have 2 different apps, one of them is a java desktop app and the other one is a c# web app. which uses java applet in order to e-sign. The problem is desktop java app requires 1.5.0_14 and on the other hand web app. requires 1.7 and higher version of java.
I installed both java 1.5 and 1.7 versions on my PC. In order to run desktop java app., I go to C:Progra~2Javajre1.5.0_14in and run javacpl to disable 1.7 and enable 1.5. Then I make a shortcut to javaws 1.5.0_14 to my desktop and add the jnlp of this java app to the target of javaws shortcut. After those settings, the java desktop app. runs.
Now I need to also run the web app which requires 1.7 java. In order to run this app. properly Java 1.5 should be disabled, 1.7 enabled on the Java Control Panel settings. Problem is when you run this web app. the settings for 1.5.0_14 breaks down, I mean all of the java versions become enabled in javacpl under C:Progra~2Javajre1.5.0_14in directory. If I restart my PC, I need to reset the java versions. Is there a way to make this happen without a pain in the head?
By the way, I tried to use batch files etc. but not succeded.
How To Identify Default Java Heapsize In Windows

1. I would like to know how to check the default heap size that the jvm is using to run the application.Im using a windows machine to run the java application. I tried to check the default heap size by the following way
ControlPanel--->Programs--->JavaSetting--> JavaTab -->View Button ---> JavaRuntimeEnvironment settings window ---> Userstab --> Value under RuntimeParameters
But in my system, there is no runtime parameters defined. Is there a command that I can execute via command prompt to check the default heap size in my machine.
2. How to increase the heap size parameter and run the eclipse plugin application from command prompt. For eg: To increase the heap size and execute the jar file we use the below command java -Xms64m -jar MyApp.jar. I would like to know how to set heap parameters and execute my java application which is an exe file. I tried to execute use the below command, but the command prompt doesnot recognise the command

Jan 19, 2015I've added a small program that reads from a .txt file to the windows 8 startup folder using a .bat file ... The problem I have Is I've used relative paths for text files In the program and It doesn't work unless I change them to absolute paths.
The .bat file Is basically java -cp[absolute path to program directory] ReadAFileApp . Is there something (most likely yes!) I'm missing here ?

When I run it on the Ubuntu box, all is fine, but when I run it under Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) with the same Java8 release installed, all my buttons have their text ellipsised (sp?). Nov 1, 2011I'm developing a JavaEE system with several applications on a Weblogic AS (10.3.5) using Eclipse indigo with OEPE plugin. I turned my computer off, turned it back on, started the eclipse, and all of a sudden I get class-path errors all over the place (didn't change a thing).
Now let me get this straight:
1. Say I have an application with one EAR project that contains an EJB project and an EJBClient project (both in the deployment assembly).
2. I have written a new regular Java project, and I want to use it in both the EJB and EJBClient projects (it needs to be visible to them).
3. As far as I know, I can simply add this Java project to the EAR project's deployment assembly, and it will be visible to the EJB and EJBClient projects.
4. This has been working for me so far, but now I get class-path errors and I have to add this Java project to the build path of each project.
How should I set the class-path when using JavaEE technology in Eclipse?
Swing/AWT/SWT :: Running Application Using Java 1.6 And Windows-based X Server
Apr 15, 2011At our company we run a third-party Java-based GUI application on one of our Linux server machine, displaying the application to our local Windows work stations using the Cygwin X Server.We noticed a few problems with a new version of this application and was able to narrow it down to the following conditions:
1. Java Swing application running on a UNIX host;
2. Java used is 1.6 (problem not noticed when using Java 1.5)
3. Displaying to Cygwin X server (I've heard other windows-based X servers have the same issue, but I don't have access to any others at this time).
If we run the application natively on Windows, I'm told if the application runs on the Linux host and displays natively to that machine's display there are no problems (although I'm not able to verify this myself).The problems are:
1. Any new frame/dialog is opened in the geographic center of the dual displays, rather than in the middle of one or the other;
2. Any attempt to drag the window to a different location on the display seems to work, but as soon as you let go of the drag, the window snaps back to the original location. This only happens the first time you try to move each window.
3. Drop-down controls (JComboBox, for example) just close back up as soon as you click on them. If you click and drag the mouse to attempt to make a selection, no selection can be made.
Are these known problems using 1.6 on UNIX displaying to Windows-based X Servers?
The only real problem is number 3. I expect that if I put more work into the window placement, I should be able to get past number 1. Number 2 is just a minor annoyance.The following is a simple Java Swing application which when run in the correct environment will exhibit the problems.

FileNotFoundException With Java Scanner With Absolute File Path
Apr 8, 2014I'm a Java beginner and I've been trying to scan a file using the Java Scanner. I've tried searching online for this error and I only find people's questions who have entered an incorrect relative path. I'm entering in an absolute path and I'm using Eclipse Standard Edition on a 2013 MacBook Pro with Mavericks 10.9.2.
Anyway, the error message I'm receiving on Eclipse is: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.Error: Unresolved compilation problem: Unhandled exception type FileNotFoundException
