Converting Celsius To Fahrenheit And Vice Versa Using Methods And Loop

Oct 13, 2014

I need to do a conversion of Celsius to Fahrenheit and viceversa using methods and a for loop. The methods are public static double celsiustoFahrenheit (double celsius) and public static double Fahrenheittocelsius (double fahrenheit). It gives me weird numbers and i have to have some format that you can see attached ....

package temperatureconverter;
import java.util.Scanner;
public class TemperatureConverter {
public static void main(String[] args) {
Scanner corvette = new Scanner(System.in);
System.out.printf("%12s%12s","Celsius","Fahrenheit");

[Code] .....

Program Converting Fahrenheit To Celsius Using For Loop (will Not Convert)

Sep 13, 2014

I am trying to write a program converting Fahrenheit to Celsius using a for loop. I get it to run and Fahrenheit goes to a hundred. My issue is that the Celsius just says 100 down the column and is not converting. I have tried messing with it, and can not figure what is wrong with it.

import java.util.Scanner;
public class Controlstatement {
public static void main(String[] args) {
double F = 1.0;
double Celcius = 100;
System.out.printf("%s%20s", "Farenheit", "Celcius" );
for (int Farenheit = 0; Farenheit <= 100; Farenheit++) {
F = Celcius * (Farenheit - 32 * 5.0/9.0);
System.out.printf("%4d%,20.2f", Farenheit, Celcius);
}
}
}

The output looks like this all the way to 100:

Farenheit Celcius
0 100.00
1 100.00
2 100.00
3 100.00

Converting Set Into Range Statement And Vice Versa

Apr 14, 2014

I have a Set S=[1,2,3,4,5,10,12]

Now I want to convert this Set into a Range Statement which is of Form as follows...

Desired Range Statement Form is = 1..5/10/12.

Since 1 to 5 are contigious in my Set, they are represented as 1..5 and 10 and 12 are single non contigious elements they are given a single element with a union (/) Symbol.

Similarly, I want to convert the RangeStatement 1..5/10/12 to Set S=[1,2,3,4,5,10,12].

DO we have any efficient method to o this in Java? if I need to write my own method or is there any inbuilt method to do this.

Converting Strings To Bits / Bytes And Vice Versa

Feb 23, 2014

I have:

Java Code: String s = "111100100111011011000010110011101"; mh_sh_highlight_all('java');

I am trying to convert that to bits/bytes.

I need to make that into a series of bits with the same exact values..."1" = a 1 bit, and "0" = a 0 bit.

Remarkably, I haven't been able to find much on this sort of conversion - possibly I am just not searching with the right keywords? As typically, stackexchange or other parts of the web have the same question that I have, asked (and answered) by many others.

How do I go about doing this?

Furthermore, how would I go about saving this to a file - and are there already good "kinds" of files to save this into. If not, how do I go about making my "own" type of "file."

CONTEXT:

I've written a compression system. To keep things simple, I've been using a string to hold the 1s and 0s, so that debugging is simpler, and overall, everything is easier to write. Now, however, my algorithm is finished - and I'm moving on to create a GUI and a working system. This is the last step that I need for the non-GUI stuff (which I'm writing through javafx by the way - is this the right thing to use? I've been told that that is where people are moving towards. Away from swing).

This is what he wants us to do "Write a method name celsius that accepts a Fahrenheit temperature as an argument. The method should return the temperature, converted to Celsius. Demonstrate the method by asking the user a temperature value to convert. Then below the result, call a loop that displays a table of the Fahrenheit temperatures 0 through 20 and their Celsius equivalents."

Celsius To Fahrenheit Java GUI

Aug 4, 2014

Write a CiUI application that converts Celsius temperatures to Fahrenheit temperatures. The user should be able to enter a Celsius temperature, click a button, and then sec the equivalent Flhnfflhelt temperature. Use the following formula to make the conversion: F - - y C + 32..F is the Fahrenheit temperature and C is the Celsius temperature.

Now the program runs (In Jgrasp) But when I Enter a number in the fahrenheit box and hit "COnvert' NOTHING happens. I went over my code and I can't find what seems to be the problem...I tried changing

ActionListener Listener = new ConvertListener();

Temperature Conversion Celsius To Fahrenheit

I have followed the instructions carefully but the conversion values are not correct.

Write a program that displays a table of the Celsius temperatures 0 through 20 and their Fahrenheit equivalents. The formula for converting a temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit is
F - | C + 32
where ¥ is the Fahrenheit temperature and C is the Celsius temperature. Your program must use a loop to display the table.

Code

public class TempConversion
{
public static void main(String[] args) {
for(double i = 0; i <= 20.0; i++) {

Accessing Arraylist Member Object Methods In Enhanced For Loop?

Feb 24, 2014

I've tried a couple ways to do it, and they don't work. I'm aiming for functionality like I got with the regular for loop, but from an enhanced for loop. Is this simply beyond the scope of an enhanced for loop, or am I just not getting the right syntax?

TestObject to1 = new TestObject("first", 11);
TestObject to2 = new TestObject("second", 12);
TestObject to3 = new TestObject("third", 13);
TestObject to4 = new TestObject("fourth", 14);
TestObject to5 = new TestObject();
List<TestObject> testList;
testList = new ArrayList<TestObject>();

[code]....

The TestObject class is simply an int and a String, with getters getInt and getString. It all works fine with the regular for loop.

edit: I should probably mention that I know what I have in the enhanced for loop now will only display the class name and the hash. I've tried adding the .getString and .getInt, and tried a few other ways to make it work. I just reverted to this because it compiles and runs

Invoke Some Methods In For Loop In Order To Print Some Info Stored In A List

Apr 28, 2014

You are using a symbol here (a name for a variable, method or class) that has not been declared in any visible scope." But I am pretty sure that method getEmpID (as also getName(), getAfm(), and payment() ) have been declared as public.

Note: My List contains objects of different type (SalariedEmployee, HourlyEmployee). I hope this is not the factor causing this problem.

import java.util.*;

private String afm = "";

Strings - Change Every Capital Letter Into Small Letter And Vise Versa

Oct 22, 2014

I have a problem with functions connected to strings.

I have a random String, e.g. "Hello World!" and I have to change every capital Letter into a small letter and vise versa. This alone would be fairly simple, but I have to do it with two other strings.

lowercase= "abcde...z" and

uppercase="ABCDE...Z". Every small letter stands at the very same position as the capital letter, but in the other string.

There should be a letter for letter search in lowercase and uppercase for the letters of "Hello World".

How I could solve the task, however I need a way to search the first string, here "Hello World", according to position. A statement which does: "Give me the letter of position x". This found letter should be able to be stored in a variable or else be able to be used by another statement. And it should be compatible with a for lope.

Degrees To Fahrenheit Converter

Mar 2, 2014

I am trying to teach myself a bit of java and came across the following line of code in the degrees to Fahrenheit converter tutorial:

int tempFahr = (int)((Double.parseDouble(tempTextField.getText()) )

* 1.8 + 32);

I know what the code does in that it is getting the value that the user has input in text field tempTextField and is applying the mathematical calculation to convert to Fahrenheit and assigning the result to the variable tempFahr.

I am guessing any value input into a text box is considered a string?I am guessing that Double.parseDouble takes in a string and converts it to a double.I am assuming that by simply putting (int) in front of

(Double.parseDouble(tempTextField.getText())) * 1.8 + 32)

that it calculates the value and converts it to an int?The tutorial says this example is not localizable because the parseDouble method is not localizable - what does it mean by localizable?
