Directly Change Java Code Using User Input

Nov 16, 2014

I'm quite new to java programming, but eager to learn. I was wondering how to change actual java code, using user input. For example:

Java Code: int x = 0;
// Start the program and enter 3
// Now the code is
int x = 3 mh_sh_highlight_all('java');

Java Code That Ask User For Password Input

Jul 21, 2014

This is the java code that I wrote for a password:

// java application that asks the user to enter a password
 import java.util.Scanner; //program uses class scanner
 public class password{
//main method used to execute java application
public static void main(String args[]){
//create scanner to obtain input from command window

[Code] ....

here is the output of the code when I run it :

entered the passwordreason
Try againPress any key to continue . . .

The code compiles without errors. The problem is when , I entered the actually password that I declared in my code, it doesn't output "You entered the correct password" but it instead outputs "Try again", which is supposed to be the output if you've entered the incorrect password. What did I do wrong?

How To Change Value In Array Through User Input And Print Out Result

Dec 14, 2014

I have to do a small program about parking. In the 2-d array (parking lot), contains different kinds of cars, the user have to :

1)enter which car he wanna move,
2)what direction (w,a,s,d) and after that,
3) how many moves( not out of bound) he wants to make, and finally
4) we print out the new parking lot for his next move

And i am stuck at how to move the car to corresponding position and then prompt user for the next move?

For example:

I want to move A to the right by 1 (d)

擷取.PNG
print result:
擷取1.PNG

How do I do that? The code that i have right now

public class CarParkGame {
public static void main( String [] args) {
  String carPark[][] = new String [6][6] ;
carPark[0] = new String[] {"A","A","A","0","0","0"};
carPark[1] = new String[] {"b","0","0","0","0","c"};
carPark[2] = new String[] {"b","X","X","0","0","c","<exit>"};

Write A Code That Allows A User To Input Number Of Stones In A Basket

Nov 20, 2014

I am trying to write a code that allows a user to input the number of stones in a basket, then put the stones in my pocket, after the stones are in my pocket, the stones must be taken out, one by one, and thrown in a pond. I get stuck at this part because my for statement has to subtract the number of stones in my pocket (one at a time) and add a stone to the pond (one by one) at the same time.I can get the pond stones to increase until the max amount of stones with the following:

for (int i = 0; i < stones; i++) {

System.out.println("Pocket:" ? " " + "Pond:" + i);

how to reduce one and add to other. Is it possible to do this in one for statement? I tried to put stones-- in place of the question mark, but that is not working.

Launch Windows Directly Into JAVA Based Password Entry System?

Apr 5, 2014

Is it possible to launch windows, specifically 8.1, directly into a java based program which would serve as the password entry screen? That is to say, instead of using the standard windows screen, could a java based alternative be used?

I have the source code used on jurassicsystems.com. I would absolutely kill to have a tweaked version of this system act as my password entry screen. It is literally something Ive wanted to have done for ages, and this emulation finally means it may be possible.

Java Assignment To Get User Input And Display ZIP Codes And Populations

Oct 7, 2014

URL....So the problem is that when I type in "PA" it will display about 24 Zips and Populations before it stops. The problem is in the ZIPs file. It goes down the list and then takes the Zip from the Zips file to the Zips in the Population file and displays the Population. It will go to population 513 and stop. Reason being, there is no ZIP code in the Population file to display a population. The loop then stops. How can I get the program to skip over the zip code when there is no corresponding ZIP code in the other file and continue showing the other Pops..Here's what I currently have completed:

import java.io.File;

import java.util.Scanner;

Generate QR Code From Input Text And Display Information About Input / Output Bits

I am trying to write a program that will generate a QR Code from an input text and also display some information about the input/output bits. So far I have created the frame and what to do next. And I'm not sure if I am on the right track since my level of programming is not that great. By the way, I am using zxing libraries from GitHub. I know, there are plenty of generators online for the QR Code, but that is not what I am looking for. As you can see on the attached image, I am more interested in the efficiency of encoding 2D data. Also, I noticed that almost all the online projects regarding 2D codes are for Android. Which is not very useful.

Java Program That Randomly Generates Five-digit Lottery Number And Prompts User For Input

Sep 25, 2014

Write a Java program that randomly generates a five-digit lottery number and prompts the user to enter a five-digit number. Each digit in the number is in the range between 0~9. The program should determine which prize the user wins according to the following rule:

• The user wins the first prize if the user input matches all five digits in the lottery number in exact order.
• The user wins the second prize if the user input matches any four digits in the lottery number in exact positions.
• The user wins the third prize if the user input matches any three digits in the lottery number in its exact position.
• The user wins the fourth prize if the user input matches any two digits in the lottery number in its exact position.
• The user wins the fifth prize if the user input matches any one digit in the lottery number in its exact position.

and here is my code. I cant get it to print the right statements.

import java.util.Random;

Calculator That Change Input Value Into Another Value

Nov 14, 2014

I am currently working on a small java programm. I use netbeans for it. And obviously I am new to java.

Basically its a calculator that change the input value into another value: like 10 € into whatever $ and same with Inch and Centimeters.

Therefore I need a second jDialog Form where i can change the factors for the calculator and start the calculator again.

Here is my problem: I can open the second Dialog but if I want to change the factor it doesn't change the value in the variable and the second calculator frame is with the old factors. It seems the double variable isn't working globally

I will add the files later when i find out how?

Text Based RPG - Allow User To Change Their Name

Sep 26, 2014

String name = "Aaron";
String whatToChange = "name";
String verifyNameChange = "";
boolean changeName = false;

if(whatToChange.equals("name")){
while(!changeName){

[Code] ....

I've been working on a small text-based RPG for fun. This particular part is supposed to allow the user to change their name. Now, the problem is that when they reach the option to change their name, the above code seems to skip the line:

name = scan.nextLine();

It will erase whatever the player previously entered for their name, as well. So it will print out:

Okay, let's change your name. What did you say it was? Alright, so you'll go by . Is that correct? [now allows input for verifyNameChange]

The above code works fine on it's own, but somehow messes up when put into the full program. I don't want to post the whole program, because it's fairly large. But the String name is set and functions fine before this bit of code.

char[] characterArray = text.toCharArray(); // convert string to array of characters

Vending Machine - Tell User Combination Of Coins That Equals To Amount Of Change

Jan 25, 2012

I have a simple java program to write which tells the user combination of coins that equals to the amount of change i.e:

user input 87

output:

3 quarters
1 dime
0 nickels
2 pennies

How the program remembers the remainder which is passed to the next column of let say dime

i.e

originalAmount = amount;
quarters = amount /25;
amount = amount % 25; <---- this is confusing for me?!?! how can the integer = integer % 25
dimes = amount / 10; <--- HOW THE PROGRAM remembers the "remainder" instead of the original user input as the code it self tells you dimes = amount where "amount" is what user input NOT remainder.

amount = amount % 10;
so on ....;

What I don't understand is HOW this algorithm works. I mean we have int amount where user inputs the number we get the first calculation amount/25 = how many quarters and then amount %25 WILL tell us about the reminder. By looking at this piece of code I would say that the system should start the calculation for the dimes again from the original number since the code says dimes = amount/10 AND amount = amount%10. My understanding is that the calculation should be done from the original user input.

Book or code it self is not clear for me how the reminder is "REMEMBERED" and then pass on to the next calculation>!?!?

UNLESS the code: amount=amount%25 gets the remainder so the next code under it is REQUIRED to read from the last prompt code.
