View Repliesam trying to Develop a download manager that will improve the downloading process, by splitting big files into different parts, and download each part of the file parallel and then combine them properly Just like JDownloader not really too complex like it though but more like it especially the split download part of it. I was able to get a script from some eBook but that doesn't really solve my problem as it only downloads pause and resumes which is not really what am looking for.

I have tried with other geoIP service and weather forecast too. I get the same error.
We have web based application (Oracle DB, Weblogic middle tier) and a applet based application running on the browser.
We have a requirement to Load images from the database (stored as blob) to the client browser and the users can do the lookup on images when needed.
We need this to perform well, so there is no delay for the user experience. We have 2 options:
1. Load the images from the database to the Application Server and keep it. When the client request from the browser comes, download it from the application server.
2. Load the images (asynchronosly) when the user logs into the application and download them to the Client machine? Is this possible? Especially give that it is stored in the database as binary objects?
And then load for the user from the client box itself, upon request.
If 2nd option is possible, which once is recommended?
I was tasked to do a 2-4 player network card game. Before I jumped into doing the card game. I decided to try out an a simple program which is the clients taking turns to type in their textfield.
I have a server that listens to 3 incoming client connections. once all 3 clients is being connected,
Steps
1) The first client will send the message first while the second and third client will wait for the first client to finish sending.
2) After the first client finished sending the message, it will be second client turn to send the message and the third client will wait for the second client to send finish.
3) After the third client finished sending the message, it will be third client turn to send the message and the first client will wait for the third client to send finish and (go back to step 1))
**The first client can only start typing once all 3 clients is being connected**
In my server class,I spawn a new Thread once a client is connected, I do a wait() on each time the client is being connected, I stored the thread in a arraylist as well. I have an id to keep track how many clients is currently connected. once the id reaches 3, I used notifyall() to notify all the threads and set the first position of my arraylist as my currentThread so that I can keep track which is the currentThread running.
I started 3 clients. and I typed the textfield of the first client but my server isn't receiving any messages.

I have some embedded systems (with web server) putting their states, sensor values into an XML file.

Now I played a little with EJB3. I want to start a timer bean in a 10second interval which retrieves the IP of registered devices from a databases, opens client sockets with a Thread Pool and retrieves the XML file over HTTP GET of each device listed in the db.
Is it possbile with EJB3? how to start thread based background services like that within EJB3 timer bean?
I'm trying to get the server start up arguments in java using System.getProperty("arg") but it returns null value.
I set the argument value in server console----server----star tup----argument(-Darg=dev).
Other than this any configurations are required. I used weblogic 10.3.5.

I have created the TCPClient and TCPServer java classes, ran the server first and then the client, and using mathematical formulas to calculate the transfer time. Trouble is, I'm having trouble testing the client and server in the file area and not the area where I had to input a line, let the server print it, and then have the client eliminate the articles from the line. View Replies View RelatedI've just recently started playing around with network programming in Java, and I've come up with a simplistic server than can handle multiple clients and return the IP and port each one is connected to (or I'm under the impression that is so). What I've been requested to do as an exercise by one of the programming teachers at my high school (I'm not in a class, this is my own time) is send a message from one client to the other through the ServerSocket so that it may "watch" everything going on. I'm not sure how to go about this at all.
EDIT : now it never seems to go the the else or else if statements...
That is now the main problem. It never, ever, goes past the first if statement, no matter what it is.
EDIT : Okay, I haven't changed a line of code but suddenly not a single if statement is working. They just stopped. The client simply hangs and I can't type anything.

I am looking to run Server and Client from two different JButton.
When I click on start Server button, the server starts to run but I cannot click on start Client button to start the client. Here the code for server:

I've been trying to create a server/client chat program, but I keep running into areas where I'm not really sure how to work it. I've run into a wall where my client just sits and spins instead of working. URL.... I can work out the dynamic parts later, I just want to understand the meat and potatoes of reading from sockets and writing to sockets (and how to do both at the same time).

View Replies View RelatedI'm working on an assignment right now which involves passing a variable series of numbers to the Server to be sorted into the correct order and returned to the client.
So far I have it connecting to the server and asking for my numbers, and I am entering each number and pressing return, and it is accepting each number individually.
One (smaller I think) problem i'm having is with the client code, specifically the while loop.. I've tried to code it so that when I enter a full stop ('.') the program will stop asking me for more numbers and move on to sending them to the server.. but instead it just crashes giving an error.. heres an example

The big problem that I have is figuring out how to send the sorted array back to the client..
So, what im trying to get to happen is-
-Client is asked to enter numbers
-Client enters series of numbers into an array
-Array is converted to a string and sent to the server
-String is then split into an array of strings and sorted using compareTo (don't know if this is the best way?)
-Sorted array is sent back to client and displayed.
