Finding Duplicate Values In Array List
Jul 8, 2014I am working on this project that wants me to write a program that inputs 20 numbers, each of which is between 10 and 100, inclusive. As each number is read, display it only if it is not a duplicate of a number already read. The only part I am confused about is how to go about checking for duplicate values that the user may enter. And IF the user does input a duplicate value, it should not be stored again.In addition, the value entered should be printed out after it is entered along side the value that have been previously entered by the user such as:
23
23 45
23 45 67
23 45 67 12
and so on.

Avoid Reprinting Of Duplicate Values In Array
Mar 28, 2014I have a practice program (written with NetBeans IDE 7.4) that calls methods to:
(1) fill an array with user input values
(2) sort the array values into ascending order
(3) print the array in assorted order.
(4) print the array without any duplicates
Method (4) prints the contents of the array without printing any duplicates. That is, if a number in the array has already been printed, it will not be printed again.
Method (4) seems to work, but may be inefficient or I may have done too much work making it difficult on myself or making the logic too confusing.
Is there a better way to do this WITHOUT using built-in functions in Java's library?
(Such as writing this method using for loops and counter variables: As practice I am supposed to avoid using Deleting functions for duplicates)

Apr 20, 2015I am having some difficulty adding a new item to the HashTable when a collision occurs. We can only use the basic utilities to code this, so we are coding a HashTable by hand. We have an array of length of 10, which each index holds or will hold a Node for a Linked List.
The code hashes fine, adds the item, but the problem exists when adding items that already been hashed. The project is much bigger, but this is the engine behind the rest, and I figured I would tackle this first.
The items we are adding are objects which are states containing different information, we hash based on the ASCII sum % tableSize.
Here is the code I am testing with to add items:

Oct 5, 2014I am making a WebCrawler, and I am trying to work out a way to stop duplicate links from getting put in however ArrayList.contains() doesnt seem to be working for me can someone look at my code and see if I am doing something wrong? I have also tried variations of it such as

and

Aug 29, 2014I need a way to store the pixels values currently on the screen and compare them to the values on the first frame. Right now I'm using glreadpixels as follows:

This works perfectly fine but turns out to be a real bottleneck, dropping the fps to a third of what it was. Is there any quicker way? All I'm after is speed, I don't even need to show it on the screen if the comparison is made "behind the scene".

Print 2 Lists - 20 Random Numbers And Another List Without Duplicate Numbers
Feb 1, 2015I'm trying to make a program that generates 20 random integers between 1 and 20 and then prints the list of random numbers to the screen. After that, I want to print a different list to screen with the same numbers from the first list only skipping any number that has been already printed to the screen. So two lists are printed to the screen. The first one has 20 random numbers. The second one has those same 20 numbers but only prints the numbers in the first list that aren't duplicated. So if m
y list of 20 random integers contains three 2s and two 14s, only one 14 and one 2 is printed to the second list. Currently, my code generates 20 numbers from 1 to 20 and stores those numbers in an array but I don't know how to print solve the second part of my problem. I don't know how to print the s different list only without duplicate numbers. As a result, my output is nothing because it doesn't print any number from the first list as oppose to skipping only duplicate one.

Feb 5, 2014I have a JScrollPane with two coulmns. In the first column I have an image pane JTable, and in the second a list with names of sections. This second column I try to divide in two columns, one (the second column) to display the names of the sections (each row contains one name), and in the other column (the third) I want to show some values for every section in the row respectively. But, instead of displaying the desired values in the third column, I get the same names of the sections as in the second column.

Feb 14, 2015I'm doing an aggregation exercise that's suppose to find the volume and surface area of a cylinder. What I'm trying to do is pass values from one class, to a second class, and that second class passes values to a third class.
This may be a clearer explanation: The first class is the main program which sends values to the second and third class. The second class is used do calculations for a circle (a pre-existing class from another assignment). The third class grabs the values that the second class calculated and calculates those values with the one that was passed from the first class to the third class. The first class then prints the outcome.
Problem is when the program gets to the third class, it just calculates the value from the first class with the default constructor from the second class. It's like the second class never received the values from the first class. I think I'm missing a step, but I don't what it is.
