Enterprise JavaBeans :: How To Refresh JPA Data When Table Data Is Updated From Backend

Nov 27, 2012

Is there a way to inform the Entity Manager or force the JPA provider to reload data from the database? The scenario could be data being updated by a store procedure or direct SQLPlus maintenance, without restarting the Application Server, the JPA need to load the newly updated data from the database.

I think the current JPA API is not enough. The void refresh(java.lang.Object entity) from EntityManager need to pass in the Entity object, I will like to know how to refresh the entire JPA Entity data after the physical table data being update from backend.

Writing Data To A Static Table - Can't Populate All Fields With Data

Jun 24, 2015

I have a program which consist of several classes. The program reads a pom file and parses the data and then writes the data to a static table. The issue I'm having is with writing my LIB file data to my table. In the HtmlDataTable Class Im trying to write the files that are read in the lib directory to the table. My table currently consist of 3 columns (missing jar files,Lib Directory files, and POM file data) currently Im only able to write the missing jar files data to my table. In the HtmlDataTable class there is a for statement where I write the missing jar file data to my table. Im also trying to write the contents of the Lib directory within this statement as well. This is where I'm having my issue. My other classes consist of a SAX parser which parses the xml file, a class that creates my static table and a class that compares the jar files in my lib directory to the jar files in my pom file. . Theres a lot of code so I included the parts I felt were useful. If needed I can include the other classes as well.

public class ReadPomFile extends DefaultHandler {
public static void main(String[] args) {
try {
// obtain a SAX based parser to parse XML document

Servlets :: Fetch Data From Backend (DB2) And Export To Excel - Slow File Download

Jan 31, 2014

Recently we got an issue about file download. We are using below code to fetch the data from backend(DB2) and export to excel.

Before Jan 15 it use to take 2 minutes to download the file (2 MB size). But now its taking half an hour to download.

response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel");
response.setHeader("content-disposition","attachment; filename=Attendance_Report.xls");

We have restarted server, system but still problem exists. We found that there is no code level or data base level or network level issues.

Now we have to see server level issue. What are the factors which effects the file downloading at server level.
We are using websphere 6.1 ,java1.4

Swing/AWT/SWT :: JTable - How To Repaint With Updated Data

Jun 5, 2014

Here's what I would like to happen:

Java/Swing dialog box appears on the user's screenIt allows the user to enter 2 values into labelled text fields (fname/sname)They select a "Click Me" push button which I hope will write the data into the table. But the table does not get refreshed.

If I minimise the dialog box and then open it again, the data still does not appear.

The code I originally built using eclipse/WindowBuilder. I've cut it back and tried to isolate the issue. But I still cannot figure it out.

I've added some diagnostic log messages to ensure that I am seeing the various events I think I need to see and have put code in the action callbacks etc.

import javax.swing.JFrame;
import javax.swing.JPanel;
import javax.swing.border.EmptyBorder;

EJB / EE :: When Timer Data In Cache Is Updated On One Server / How To Make It Synchronize To Other Servers

Oct 31, 2014

Our company has a web based project which using the Jboss EAP 6.1 +EJB 3.1 + JSF2 and deployed it in a cluster environment(Server A,Server B and Server C).We have created some schedule tasks by using EJB timer service and the timer data file is stored in a central file system.And users can login and access to a task configuration page to customise his own tasks by create,update,delete actions etc.But we find that the timers don't work correctly in the cluster environment.

For example.When we start the Servers(A,B,C),each server will load the timer file data into his own node cache from the central file system.But when one user go to the task configuration page to update or delete his own tasks from one of the Servers, it only update the change on its own node cache and don't replicate the timer data to other nodes' cache and which cause the problem.

I know there is one way to fix it is that we could shutdown the three Servers and re-boot them and the timer data file will be re-loaded into each server's cache. But we can't do that because the users want their own created/updated tasks take effect immediately once they change them.My question is that when the timer data in cache is updated on one server, how to make it synchronize to the other Servers'.

Enterprise JavaBeans :: Error In InitialContext Looking Up

IDE: Netbeans 8.0.
Server ejb:
"@Stateless
public class ejb implements ejbRemote{
    public String say(){

[Code] ....

When I run the Web project on the Server host, it's OK. But when I run it on another host it returns error. I can access 192.168.0.2:7676 in browser(returns some context string), so it may not be caused by firewall.

I think the problem is the initalContext is not generated from 192.168.0.2:7676 but from local JVM, because when when running it in the Server I change the ip address to random number it also is OK.

The application deploys and is functioning correctly. The application is available from the following URLs:

web application: [URL] ....

However, I would like configure the deployment to insert the "app1" string into the URL so the application is available like this:

I've been looking at some of the configuration options in deployment plans, but can't seem to get anything working.

Enterprise JavaBeans :: Unable To Load Module - DeploymentContext Does Not Contain Any EJB

Apr 1, 2013

I'm writing an enterprise application to familiarize myself with Glassfish 3.1.2 and EJB 3.1. I've created several local, stateless beans, and injected one into a JSF managed bean. The ejb and web modules compile fine, but when I launch the application with Glassfish I get the following startup error and the application does not deploy.

SEVERE: Exception while invoking class org.glassfish.ejb.startup.EjbDeployer prepare method
SEVERE: Exception while invoking class org.glassfish.javaee.full.deployment.EarDeployer prepare method
SEVERE: Exception while preparing the app
SEVERE: Unable to load the EJB module. DeploymentContext does not contain any EJB.

org.glassfish.deployment.common.DeploymentException: Unable to load the EJB module. DeploymentContext does not contain any EJB.

Check the archive to ensure correct packaging for D:DocumentsNetBeansProjectsTestdistgfdeployTestTest-war_war.

If you use EJB component annotations to define the EJB, and an ejb or web deployment descriptor is also used, please make sure that the deployment descriptor references a Java EE 5 or higher version schema, and that the metadata-complete attribute is not set to true, so the component annotations can be processed as expected :

Enterprise JavaBeans :: Column Name In Database Starts With A Number

Feb 14, 2013

Recently we updated out database and we changed our tables' and columns' names, I'm developing an adf application with EJB3.0 the question is that the new column names start with a number (eg. 001U_ID), its a kind of encoding the names of the tables so no one can modify the values.

When I create a query on the table it is throwing an exception:

Caused by: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Incorrect syntax near 'U_ID'.

I think the problem is that the EJB3.0 doesn't recognize column names starting with a number!!! What can I do to solve this issue?

Enterprise JavaBeans :: Separating Web And EJB Layer And Deploying On Different Servers

May 12, 2013

Web Layer - JSP/Servlets
Business Layer - EJB 3

I want to develop separate projects for web layer (.war) and for Business layer (.jar). I want to deploy these layers on different Glassfish servers.

Here is my Approach -

1. Create a separate module for remote interfaces (.jar), use @remote annotations
2. Create a Web module using JSP/Servlets (.war) and use this remote interface jar in it.
3. Create a EJB module (.jar) and implement these remote interface in it.
4. Use JNDI in Web layer to access the EJB methods.

I want to know if this is the correct approach?

Enterprise JavaBeans :: Eclipselink Get RowID As String Not Useful For Further Select / Update

Dec 30, 2013

I'm using EclipseLink with EJBs. In my Entity bean class, I defined a column for the ROWID column:

  @Id
  @Column(name = "ROWID")
  public String getRowid() {
  return rowid;
  }
  public void setRowid(String rowid) {
  this.rowid = rowid;
  }

This @Id column is part of a composite key in my Id class using multiple @Id columns.

After I selected records from DB and try to print out the value in log, I see something like:

oracle.sql.ROWID@12b012b0

In the above String, after the portion "oracle.sql.ROWID@", the value always consists of 2 repeated parts, in this case "12b0".

This is completely different from the value I see when run SQL directly in my DB tool (PL/SQL developer) to select ROWID column.

Also, selecting the same record again later in the application will give me a different rowid String value.

Using EntityManager method calls (em.find(), em.merge()....) will always fail since the ROWID value is incorrect.

My question is, is the java String type not suitable as receiver for Oracle ROWID?

Or is it simply Oracle ROWID cannot be used with EclipseLink, only JDBC?

Since I'm not using JDBC, we cannot use the oracle.sql.ROWID type as receiver.
