Unable To Pull Out Lowest Week Number In Program

Apr 29, 2014

This program reads off of a text file that I have attached to my post. It is supposed to:

display the total sales for each week
the average daily sales for each week
the total sales for all of the weeks
the average weekly sales
the week number that had the highest amount of sales
the week number that had the lowest amount of sales

I can get everything but the very last one. In my code you will see that I tried to use a really large number so it would pull out the lowest amount, but it still didn't work: low = 100000000;

 SalesData.txt (173bytes)
Number of downloads: 29

How To Calculate Difference Between Two Entered Days Of Week

Mar 19, 2014

I need to create a simple Java program that calculates the difference between two entered days of the week with the following requirements:

-Ask the user to enter in a day of the week by name (e.g. Monday)
- Ask the user to enter in another day of the week by name (e.g. Friday)
- Create a static method other than main that takes in two Strings as input, and returns an integer value equal to the difference between the two days
- Use an array with the days of the week in it to find each entered in day of the week, and use their indices to calculate the difference
- Output the difference for the user to see

Array With Occurrences - Gather Sales Amount For The Week

May 3, 2014

Here is what I'm trying to do using arrays.

gather sales amount for the week
display the total of sales
display the average of sale
display the highest sale amount
display the lowest sale amount

using occurrences determine how many times the amount occurred for the week

make a sales main
make a sales data

This is what i have so far but I'm confused on how to start the occurrence and where it would be placed in order to get the information from the array

public class SalesData {
private double[] sales; // The sales data
/**
The constructor copies the elements in an array to the sales array.
@param s The array to copy.
*/
public SalesData(double[] s) {

App That Calculates And Displays Total Basic Pay Week - Overtime Pay

Oct 16, 2014

Having just started college, Bob has been busy looking for a part-time job to fund his new college social life and after only two weeks of looking he has managed to get two job offers! Each job comes with different hours, basic rates of pay and over-time rates so he needs to work out which would get him the most money.

Develop an application that would allow Bob to enter his basic pay rate, his number of regular hours work per week and his number of overtime hours per week. The application should then calculate and display Bobs total basic pay for the week, his overtime pay for the week and his total pay including overtime.

Your application should use instantiable classes to separate the calculations from the user input and output.

Save the instantiable class as Pay.java

Note: The overtime rate is 1.5 times the basic rate of pay

This is my instantiable class code which compiles correctly

public class Pay{
//Declare Data members/Variables
private double pay;
private double hours;
private double overtime;
private double totalBasicPay;

[Code] .....

My errors in the second bit of code that i have never seen before

"C:UsersAndreDownloadsPayApp.java:25: error: no suitable method found for println(<null>,String)
System.out.println(null,"Please enter Basic Pay");
^
method PrintStream.println() is not applicable
(actual and formal argument lists differ in length)

Web Services :: GregorianCalendar Object Passed As Null In Request - JAX-WS On Websphere

Jan 20, 2015

I created the WSDL first in RSA and then created the java bean skelaton from the WSDL. There are a couple of dateTime fields in the WSDL that are created as GregorianCalendar objects.

When I test with SOAPui and the date fields are passed correctly, everything works great. But when there is an invalid date format or anything else in the SOAP request, instead of returning a Conversion exception or some other validation exception, the field is passed as a null to the request object in the SOAP IMPL. Should't this return an exception?

Sample requests inputs:
<endTimeStamp>2014-01-28T01:30:14.474Z</endTimeStamp> - Date
<endTimeStamp>06-FEB-14 01.51.00.000000000 AM</endTimeStamp> - Null
<endTimeStamp>Any other string be it a date or not.</endTimeStamp> - Null

Setting Background Of JScrollPane?

Aug 19, 2014

My program's tree:

JFrame{
JPanel(That MenuBar at the top)
JPanel(That panel at center with table){
JScrollPane{
JTable
}
}
}

I want to add my custom image to that grey space right there. I guess it is a JScrollPane, because I added that orange background on JPanel that contains it. But when I add this code to my custom class of JScrollPane:

@Override
public void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
super.paintComponent(g);
if(background == null){
background = new ImageIcon(ClassLoader.getSystemResource("tableBg.png")).getImage();
}
g.drawImage(background, 0, 0, null);
}

The result is the same, no changes.

Then I read some documentation. I found this method:

scrollPane.getViewport().setBackground(Color c);

It works, but it accepts only color and I want to add image. Is there any way to do that? Do I need to subclass JViewport and use paintComponent ? If yes, then how to make getViewport() method return my custom subclassed version?

Setting Values In PDF Field?

Dec 12, 2014

I have a PDF file and I have a text file that contains this data. It has the name of a PDF field along with a database table column name.

Text file: pdfFieldEmployee=Employee; pdfFieldStartDate=StartDate; pdfFieldSalary=Salary; pdfFieldExempt=Exempt

I also have this hash map that contains the database table column names along with their corresponding values:

Employee, Don Parker
StartDate, 5/6/2000
Salary, $55000
Exempt, N

How would I read through the text file and the hash map and at the same time do this:

if the pdf field is equal to pdfFieldEmployee, then set pdfFieldEmployee equal to Don Parker.
if the pdf field is equal to pdfFieldStartDate, then set pdfFieldStartDate equal to 5/6/2000.

and so on and so on. I would prefer to do this with a loop because I think it would take less code than writing a bunch of if statements.

Swing/AWT/SWT :: Setting Size Of JFrame

May 26, 2014

I am rather new to Swing, and I am building a game right now in which I need to display a pop-up window as a reminder for what commands exist within the game. I created a class extending JFrame for this and added all the information I need. However, for some reason, no matter how many different ways I try to set the size of this window (setSize(w, h), pack(), using a different layout, adding the compnents to a JPanel first and setting the preffered size of that, then adding the JPanel to the JFrame), it doesn't work. Instead of a window of my requested size, I get a tiny, maybe 100 x 100 pixel window that needs to be resized in order for its contents to be visible.

import java.awt.Font;
import java.awt.GridLayout;

Swing/AWT/SWT :: Setting Icon On JButton

Feb 23, 2014

Recently I have been working on an executable launcher. I tried to get the executable icons and set them on the JButtons. Still there are some problems. Here is a part of the code:

try {
button[i].setIcon(FileSystemView.getFileSystemView().getSystemIcon(new File(getConfig("path." + (i+1)))));
}
catch (NullPointerException ex) {
}

Here the getConfig() method is already defined to get a string in a "properties" file. However, the icons are very small and they don't fill the entire button.

How can the icon fill the entire button (for example, having a custom size of 48x48, or automatically filled the button)? The frame will not be resized.

Here is the whole code...

import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import java.awt.image.*;
import java.io.*;
import java.io.File.*;

I need to set the base Page class but for that I need the objects for the subsequent pages and hence an iterative type of implementation.

JSF :: Binding Components And Setting ValueExpression?

Dec 19, 2014

dynamically create tabs by pressing a button, each tab has Primefaces input texts in which i'll be adding stuff and with a Submit button i'm submitting the form.

My issue now is this; although I can create more buttons through my managed bean, I cannot set the ValueExpression to the InputTexts. When I do:

inputName.setValueExpression("value", createValueExpression("#{cdiBean.name}",String.class)); it doesn't work.

The createValueExpression is a static method in my managed bean and it returns a ValueExpression. I'm most certain I found it online, not sure where though, it's been over a month since the last time I worked with this topic.

Anyway, is my whole "methodology" correct? Should I do anything differently?
