How To Draw Multiple Graphics Inside One JPanel Using Multiple Classes
May 5, 2015
I'm very new to Java, and I am creating a program that takes multiple user input to create one face. I have a class for the eyes, nose, lips, and headshape. For some reason, my program is not drawing the graphics. ***for question purposes, I have only included my head shape class and my test class****
my "test" class:
import javax.swing.JFrame;
import javax.swing.JOptionPane;
import javax.swing.JPanel;
public class FaceTest
{
public static void main(String[] args)
{
String head = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Would you like a circle, square, rectangle shaped head?: ");
I have to make a retail item class that has description, price and quantity. I then have to make a CashRegister class that calculates subtotal, tax, total and displays it (toString). I also have to make a driver class to call the methods from main. I have no clue what I am doing and what I have done does not work. I am trying to make it sort of like a cart, in the CashRegister it should ask the user to enter the description, quantity purchased and the price. Then it would send that to the arraylist of retailitem. I am having trouble using those items in my other methods and then do not know how to call those in the driver class.. So here are my classes:
public class RetailItem { private String description; private int quantity; private double price; public RetailItem(){ description = ""; quantity = 0;
I was trying to play around a little bit after learning creating multiple classes and stuff.However,i encountered a strange problem with reading a value from the user and then storing it in a variable.The usual way i do it is
But when i trying to print the contents of the variable "variableName" the compiler throws a lot of errors .I am attaching how i have tried that out in my code
import java.util.Scanner; class laptop{ private String modelNumber; private boolean hasFan; private float ramSpeed; protected int numCores; //private String input;
[code]....
Without the setInfo() in the laptop class the program functions as desired but i intend to ask the user if he wants to modify something and then reflect the same.
I have recently start learning about objects and classes in java. I understand that in order to use multiple classes in one file you need one class to be public and the rest are private. But after that I don't understand how to invoke the private class in the public class. I thought if I tried programming on my own I can have a better understanding of it, but had no success.
Public Class{ Objects Constructor(){} ActionListener Method(){} Main Function()}
[Code]....
but I cannot declare variables in this method, how can I do this what can be the simplest method?
In addition: I've a marksheet class, a calculator class, & in main class I've 2 buttons one for marksheet & one for calculator, how can I make it so that if user clicks on marksheet button that class should be called & so?
Alright.. So I have to make a retail item class that has description, price and quantity. I am having trouble using those items in my other methods and then do not know how to call those in the driver class...
I have multiple Java classes that holds lots of time based parameters, e.g.: (simplified):
Java Code: class Engine { float rpm; boolean enabled; int runningTime;
[code]....
Is there any simply solution to map all these parameters from my TimeRecord to one list(vector,map) of params that user can choose from and see the value in proper form (floating type, boolean type) ?
I just want that user can pick a paremter's name from list or combobox and choose parameter that he wants to see. I don't want to duplicate the data - just some kind of mapping algorithm between list of parameters names and my TimeRecord. eg. some collection class that holds all names and connections: Parameters params; fill combo/list from this class for ( String name : params ) { combo.add(name);}, then when user picks some field from combo: params.getValue( myTimeRecord, name ) return correct parameter value (just my first thought)
Later, I want to replace all floats,ints,booleans with some kind of templated class eg. Value which will hold all kinds of measurement unit with conversion support - but it's only a plan now.
I was reading the book, "Head First Java" and it was talking about how there may be multiple classes in a large application, but there will be only one main method.how does it work that way? How can you have multiple classes, but only one main method?
I'm trying to create a Java swing chess application, but would like to divide the GUI part of it into at least two different classes (possibly more later, but I'm not sure yet). Currently I have a mainGUI class and a ChessBoard class, both of which extend JFrame. I want the main GUI class to contain a JPanel which will house several components, including a JPanel originating from the chessboard class that contains the actual board.
Is there any way to do this? I tried just creating a ChessBoard object in my main GUI class and then adding it to the component, but I got an illegal argument exception, because apparently you can't add one JFrame to another. How to do what I'm trying to do, or just how to split GUIs into multiple classes in general?
I am trying to compile multiple jar files into one jar file from inside a java program. I know how to do this with shell scripts but I would rather have a universal application than one that will only run on Mac, Windows, or Linux. This is my current compiler code:
if(System.getProperty() == "Mac OS X"){ Runtime.getRuntime().exec("javac -classpath jar1.jar; jar2.jar"); }
I would then continue this on for Linux and Windows, but this limits my application.
I studied that java does not support multiple inheritance using classes. It is fine practically, but I have still a question in mind:Lets see the below code.
class Test{ ------ ------ }
class MyTest extends Test{ --------- --------- }
Here, as we know that that Object is Super class for every class in java. and I have already extends a Test class in MyTest.My question is: How is it possible to extend features of two class at the same time?
I have i am trying to implement tooltip through javascript, like when we click on an image link tooltip should be displayed and it should have close button/ close image to close that tooltip.like the same way i will have multiple images on page, when ever i click on the images all tooltips should be displayed on the page when ever i want to close that then only it should close through close button on tooltip.can we do it through java script or will go for jquery.
How to create object for "class B" and call the "function_B" from other different class D where class D has no connection with class A? Here is my program.
public class A(){ void print(){} } class B{ void function_B(){} } class C{ void function_C(){} }
Here, A, B, C are in the same package. But class D is in different package.
I am trying to create this snake and input it into the next window that is opened when the play button is pushed but how to draw this snake or get him into the frame and i have looked all over google.
import javax.swing.*; import javax.swing.Box.Filler; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; public class SnakeObject extends JFrame { public SnakeObject()
I have a JPanel embedded in a JScrollPane. I draw in the JPanel, using the paint() method. I have to draw some shapes that can go far in the y direction, that's why I put my JPanel in a scroll pane, in order to scroll down to be able to discover the shapes down. But even though I put my JPanel in a JScrollPane, it soon blocks in the y direction and does not show the shapes far in the y direction.
Note: I used a GridBagConstraints which is correctly set, with its fill attribute etc.
I've been trying to draw a panel on a frame with simple drawString drawRect and oval but when i run it the frame shows up with the exit on close stuff but nothing will show inside . this is my code :
import java.awt.Graphics; import javax.swing.JPanel; import javax.swing.JFrame; class Draw extends JPanel{ public void paintcomponents(Graphics g){ super.paintComponent(g); g.drawLine(10,15,20,30);
[Code] .....
I'm not sure what's wrong , probably something to do from this pc ? since in the lab work at uni it worked fine .
I am almost in the end of one project and I would like to add some tools that will make the user more friendly with the program so I decide to create something like mini frame in which I will explain every part of my program. Now I am going of course to create a class for example let's say HelpFrame in which I am going to have a lot of categories and the user will choose one of them and with cardLayout I am going to show inside the Frame doc files which explain the current category that user ask for.
So my first thought was to make a frame then use BorderLayout, on the West I am going to add the Panel with the users options and in the Center of the BorderLayout I am going to find a way to display this doc files (if I am going to use JPanels then I will have to use cardLayout so I can change JPanels inside the frame) so my first thought was to create a JEditor or JTextPane and read/open the doc file. Ok that was fine for files with only plain text as I was expected but the problem that I have to deal with is how to open a doc file when this file contains Images and plain text of course?
Is it possible with JEditor or JTextPane? or I have to find another way to do something like that..
I read the JEditor API and I find out about HTML solution (if I have right) but I want to leave this option as the last one cause I am not good at all in HTML
I can create Images rather than doc files and then I can just draw or add that images into JLabel and show them inside the Frame.. but I don't want to do something like that cause I feel like it is the wrong way..
Basically I am making a paddleball game, like i'm sure everyone does in learning Java. I'm supposed to use different classes for each component, i.e. one for the ball, one for the paddle, and one for the display, then finally one as a 'controller' to implement mouselistener and stuff.
However, I can't quite grasp how to implement the paintComponent method. I know I can only have it in one class extended from JPanel, and I have the syntax for creating an object which I understand is something like this:
public void paintComponent(Graphics g){ //this is the rectangle my game will be played on, super.paintComponent(g); //a gray background to define boundaries for the ball g.setColor(Color.GRAY); g.drawRect(0, 0, Frame.getHeight(), Frame.getWidth());
However what I don't understand is, how do I then pass this graphics object to the ball and paddle to let them draw themselves? I found something that described it like this here
What I don't get is, if I use this, where would I put the drawRect and stuff to make the other shapes I need? in their class, under the entity.Draw(g) method? or in the display class where it calls the graphic object in the first place?
Last, how can I have my controller class refresh the displays of each of these with the timer I have implemented? Is there a simple way to call one refresh command and have it refresh the drawing of both the paddle and ball simultaneously, or would I need to call a separate refresh command for each object?
I have a Jframe and i want to add inside 4 different jpanel.This is easy.
what is difficult is how can i change them dynamically with 4 other new jpanels and 4 other new jpanels?
I have try with BorderLayout but not working.
It's a wizard like but not the same.
I have a jpanel with jbuttons jpanel with a jtable jpanel with textarea and jpanel with jlabels. All this have to change with other 4 jpanels, where to look?
I am having a pretty bad time with this y goto to classes one form labels with a certain image and the other for another images of the same kind but what i have to do is to use a third class in which both classes have to compile and appear in the right place. Ineed an example or something because i don't get it what to do?
I am trying to place a number of JLabel and JTextField objects inside a JPanel which has a JScrollPane.
One thing is, that at one time, I have have a certain number of JLabel and JTextField objects which number would cover an area greater than the JPanel's vertical size.
How when I implement the JScrollPane and I run the program, the scroll bars appear, but they don't scroll the pane inside the JPanel, the items are fixed.
Could the problem be because I am using a Null Layout.
Will I have to use one of the standard layouts available, like GridLayout for the JScrollPane scrolling function to work?
