I am developing my first Java application and the database I use is MySQL. I have created two separate buttons; one to insert new data into my database and the other to update the database when changes are made.
Each button is working perfectly, but I now want to combine both functions into just the save button. Thus, whether I am entering new data or modifying existing data, the save button should use an IF ELSE condition to decide whether to use the INSERT or UPDATE command.
My problem is, how do I write this IF ELSE statement? What should be the condition? For example;

I am creating a portal using JSP and MySQL with eclipse IDE. I have a scenario where data is stored on draft table and is retrieved then stored on another table. I need the entry in the draft table to be deleted after the insertion. When I tried to run the code it redirects to success page but makes no impact on database(neither inserts not gets deleted).
I'm trying to use in the constructor inserts from keyboard and then check whether any of the constructors fields remained empty. Let say my constructor is:

The problem is not with inserting data but with leaving the field empty. When I pass any field just with keyboards Enter, the empty test doesnt return me any message about it. While it works if I build object with the constructor like:

2) get the for loop's output just once, since it won't compile or recognise the variable outside of the loop. How do I make the loop's 'counter' variable available everywhere?

I'm currently working on a java project simply to learn java. So far, it creates a window and makes a properties file, or appends data to it if it already exists. The problem is that I'm not quite sure how to check if the file already exists to append data to it. I'm currently using a boolean (configCreated) that appends data when true, and creates a file when false. The problem is that this boolean is always false since it's at the beginning.
I need to check the existence of email accounts before sending them mails to avoid going to a blacklist for sending to non real accounts.
