How To Make Different Class For Each JPanel
Jan 31, 2014
I have made four apps and I want to put each of them in one project to make a big app.So,I have made a JFrame which has a lot of Jpanels inside.My question is how I can write different class for every Jpanel because I try to put all of them in one class,and it was not a good idea. Also, I do not want to open an other window when I choose an app. I want to have a Jpanel for every app. I use Cardlayout, I have read the tutorials but I can not understand. Also,I thought to make a different JFrame but I do not want to open a different window when I open a different app.

I can't figure out how to place a JPanel from a class(Game) in to a another class(Core). I have bean stuck on this for about three days now I bean doing my research but no luck so now I think I should ask directly so here I am. Now to state clearly I am trying to place a JPanel named Game_Screen witch is in another class named Game into a JFrame named frame witch is in a another class named Core.
Now both of this classes are with in the same package and my IDE Is Eclipse.The JPanel Game_Screen has other swing pieces attached to it that should also be added with the panel on to the frame.But the change is screen should only happen when I click the buttons New Legend(N),Load Legend(L),Help(H) what already happens is that when you click any of this buttons menu.setVisible(false); is activated making everything on screen at the time disappear from the screen but the panel does not a pear.
Here's my code:
//Class - Core-------
package Source;
import java.awt.*;
import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
public class Core {
static Game GG = new Game();
public static void main(String[] args) {
JFrame frame = new JFrame();

So I am making a JPanel with two JLabels and it isn't working right.
import java.awt.*;
import javax.swing.*;
public class IntroPanel extends JPanel
{
public IntroPanel() {
setBackground(Color.green);
[Code] ....
For some reason
JLabel 11 = new JLabel("Layout Manger Demonstration");
JLabel 12 = new JLabel ("Choose a tab to see an example of a layout manger.");
add(11);
add(12);
is not registering the JLabel or add functions.

I have a JPanel class that creates a left panel and a right panel. the left panel and right panel both have one button each. What I’m trying to accomplish is when I click on the button in the left panel that it updates the button in the right panel. I have to do this without changing anything in the right panel.Basically I have to have LeftPanel have a way to keep track of an instance of RightPanel and I would have to do this through the JPanel class. But I have no clue where to begin on even accomplishing this.

where to create the array of chars that hold the letter grade. I am assuming that would be in the main with the other arrays. Passing it into an object creating a method in the record.java. Then displaying it in my main.
Take the Grades program and make a class. An object that hold 5 student names, an array of 5 chars that hold the letter grades, 5 arrays of four doubles each to hold the set of test scores. The class should have methods that return a specific student's name, average test score and a letter grade based on the average. Demonstrate the class in a program that allows the user to enter each student's name and their 4 tests scores. It should then display each student's average and letter grade.This is my main program:
import java.util.Scanner;
public class GradeBook{
public static void main(String[] args){
Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
Record[] students = {new Record(), new Record(), new Record(), new Record(), new Record()};
for(int j=0; j < 5; j++){

I have a Main() class that extends JPanel and I'm trying to add Card() that also extends JPanel.When I add a Card() or Main() object to the JFrame directly, it works fine. The problem arises when I try to add a Card() object to the Main() object.
I edited the code a little bit to make it easier to read so hopefully it's fine.
Main() code:
public class Main extends JPanel implements Runnable {
// HARDCODED OPTIONS
public static final int WIN_WIDTH = 1200;
public static final int WIN_HEIGHT = 800;
public static final int GRID_X = 9;
public static final int GRID_Y = 5;

Basically the class is supposed to have a static variable that keeps track of the number of companies (numberOfCompanies) that have been created and a static method that returns the value of this variable. I need to have a constructor and a method to addEmployee, a method to printCompany, and a toString method. The addEmployee method will check that there is only 1 salesperson, 2 designers, and 4 manufacturing persons at a time and will check that there are no more than 7 employees of the company.
The addEmployee method will return a String indicating what the error is (i.e. "There is already a sales person in this company") or a null if the employee was added. If attempting to name a third company, an error message will be shown. what i have so far but my print company mmethod returns null company class :in which i am obliged to use inputdialog because it says that it cannot return void when i use the showmeassage diaolog.
company class:
import java.util.ArrayList;
import javax.swing.JOptionPane;
public class Company {
private ArrayList<Employees> list ;
private static int numberOfCompanies;
[Code] ....
error message when print button is clicked:
Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.RuntimeException: JOptionPane: parentComponent does not have a valid parent
at javax.swing.JOptionPane.createInternalFrame(Unknown Source)
at javax.swing.JOptionPane.showInternalOptionDialog(Unknown Source)

We are making a tic tac toe game for my CS120 class and I am having trouble figuring out how to make our X's and O's. Is there a way to make shapes besides making two lines for an X and an oval with a white smaller oval inside to make an O? We have only learned the basics so far in class (i.e. events, inheritance, client-supplier, etc.)
These are our instructions:
Write a controller that controls the game. There is one human player (the X player) and the computer player (the O player). The name of the class must be TicTacToeController. In a sense, the controller is the game since the controller will 1) create a TicTacToeModel 2) create a TicTacToeView and 3) create a TicTacToeButton (you must write this class following the design pattern covered in class lectures), a label, and text field such that when the button is pushed, the player moves into the cell selected by the text field. After every player move, the computer moves into a randomly selected empty cell. When the game is over, a text message must be displayed somewhere on the screen the gives the status of the game. While you are free to change the appearance of the controller, the basic elements must be provided (a view of the game, a button, and a text field to enter the cell). A sample screenshot is displayed below.And this is the code i have thus far:
[import java.awt.*;
import javax.swing.JFrame;
public class TicTacToeView extends Rectangle
public TicTacToeView(int x, int y, int w, int h) {
super(50,60,w,h);
this.setBackground(Color.red);
JFrame win = new JFrame("Tic Tac Toe");
win.setBounds(10,10,w+100, h+100);
win.setLayout(null);
win.setVisible(true);
win.setBackground(Color.gray);

I have a JPanel embedded in a JScrollPane. I draw in the JPanel, using the paint() method. I have to draw some shapes that can go far in the y direction, that's why I put my JPanel in a scroll pane, in order to scroll down to be able to discover the shapes down. But even though I put my JPanel in a JScrollPane, it soon blocks in the y direction and does not show the shapes far in the y direction.
Note: I used a GridBagConstraints which is correctly set, with its fill attribute etc.

As you can see in the above image. I have create One jFrame inside it their is one jPanel. Inside jPanel their are dynamic buttons whose range can change. (its like text box if you add more text scroll bar will appear)
I want to add jScrollBarr/jScollPane to jPanel so that when more than 6buttons will be their, I can scroll it down/up. So my question is how should I place jScollPane using this DRAG-DROP tool. When i clicked on jScrollPane and tried to put it inside jPanel I am unable to set it's position. It's my first time to add jScrollPane for jPanel inside jFrame.

How do you declare methods for a class within the class whilst objects of the class are declared else where?
Say for instance, I have a main class Wall, and another class called Clock, and because they are both GUI based, I want to put a Clock on the Wall, so I have declared an instance object of Clock in the Wall class (Wall extends JFrame, and Clock extends JPanel).
I now want to have methods such as setClock, resetClock in the Clock class, but im having trouble in being able to refer to the Clock object thats been declared in the Wall class.
Is this possible? Or am I trying to do something thats not possible? Or maybe I've missed something really obvious?

Yes my JPanel is not displaying all the time like you would think it would. Before you beat me up yes I am a bit new I am just working on the GUI part of java over my summer break. Obviously it is not suppose to do that. Secondly, As you can see i am using the alphabet to create JButtons. Shouldnt there be an easier way to use a for( loop) . I tried before but I didn't want to get too side tracked.
Java Code:
import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.*;
public class hello {
private JFrame alphaframe1;
private JFrame alphaframe2;

I'm learning the swing options of Java, and my first exercise was the typical Chat Room. I got everything right: TextField, TextArea, the jpanel at left side and the buttons inside of it. BUT I can't order the 2 buttons (1 north, 1 south). I've already looked for answers, but didn't find anything and I tried to asked the teacher, but she was too lazy to look for the error. Here is my code:
f=new JFrame("Chat Room");
b1=new JButton("Send");
b2=new JButton("Emoticons");
public void showWindow(){
p1=new JPanel();
f.getContentPane().add(p1,BorderLayout.EAST);
p1.add(b1,BorderLayout.NORTH);
p1.add(b2,BorderLayout.SOUTH);
