lst contains list of objects and one of the objects contains the property bDate(Timestamp) which has the value 28-2-1989 00:00:00.0, now I just wants to change the value into 28-2-1989 and store it back into the List as a Timestamp. how can I do that.
Modify class Time2 to include a tick method that increments the time stored in a Time2 object by one second. Provide method incrementMinute to increment the minute and method incrementHour to increment the hour. The Time2 object should always remain
a) incrementing into the next minute,
b) incrementing into the next hour and
c) incrementing into the next day (i.e., 11:59:59 PM to 12:00:00 AM).
how to manage case 4 stuff and what's the problem of this CODE.
import java.util.Scanner; public class Time2Test { public static void main( String args[] ) { Scanner input = new Scanner( System.in ); Time2 time = new Time2(); // input System.out.println( "Enter the time" ); System.out.print( "Hours: " ); time.setHour( input.nextInt() );
I already used properties file without problems for localizing information. In that case the property file was stored as a resource in a package; and I used the Class ResourceBundle to manage the operations and the ClassLoader to access to the file.
Actually I need to use property files “To save the configuration of the application”.In this case I need also to update information stored inside the file.property, and I used the same procedure as before to manage it (ClassLoader to get data- also for writing).
I had problems in this case: that the data was never modified inside the properties file. I investigate, and now I think that the problem comes from writing in the property file that is located in the .jar file. For what I know, it is impossible to change resources putted in the .jar files.
I found a solution: to store the properties files out the jar files; and in this way all is good. But it would be more comfortable to store inside.
My question is : if a file property used to “save the configuration of the application “ have to be put out of jar, or is there another way ??
Using JDK7 is there a way to get an object that has got a specific property from the collection? For instance, I might want to seek if there is an Address containg "Tim Carlton" in the ArrayList.
When I am watching scjp mock test, I am getting error about security.
I am trying to add www.javaranch.com to site exception list in java control panel. I can see security tab in java control panel, there I find field for Site Exception List. When I am add [URL] .... to this site exception list, list is not getting populated.
Why is that ? Why am I unable to add this site to list ?
I am using 64-bit system and have downloaded and installed 64 bit update patch 51.
I am trying to grab a graphical object from an arraylist, and reposition its coordinates on a Jframe when adding it. My program of course deals with strings, and once it sees specific words in my console, some method is called that adds, removes, or otherwises modifies certain objects on screen.
Here I want to say something like move(object[1],xpos,ypos) which will move a certain object from a specified point in the array, and move it to new x and y positions on the JFrame. I use a different class that extends a graphics program, so when I say add(something,x,y) it draws the object onscreen where I want it. These are some relevant, though incomplete, methods that should move an object already painted on screen:
Console class
Java Code:
public void doMoveCommand(String cmd, String arg, String xpos, String ypos) { int x = Integer.parseInt(xpos); int y = Integer.parseInt(ypos); if (cmd.equals("posMake") && arg.equals("star")) { box.moveStar(box.historyG.get(1), x, y); //historyG is an arraylist of GPolygons freeCommand();
[Code] ....
When I say makepos(whatever) I am getting a arraylist out of bounds exception. How I might be able to accomplish moving objects already on screen?
I have a Die class that extends Label. It has a SimpleIntegerProperty called faceValue. In another class I have an ObservableArrayList of Die called dice and a FilteredList of all the die in dice with a faceValue of 2. The Problem is that when I update the faceValue (ie. roll()) the filteredlist doesn't update with the Die that faceValue=2. I believe the reason is that the filteredlist updates when a ListChangeListener is fired. If i add, subtract elements from dice I don't have a problem but how do I make it so that updating the faceValue on the die counts as a ListChange, or is there even a way to do that.
I have a design scenario here which is quite interesting and complex. I have a Java class structure as follows,
class A { class B; innerClass B { List<class C> listofC; innerClass C { String attribute1; String attribute2; // Their getter setters } } }
So I have this as an API. Now my challenge is that I need to add one more property to inner class C. i.e attribute3 in innerClass C. I need to do this without disturbing the code in class A by extending these classes or writing a new wrapper, so I can use class C with new properties .
I hope this should be achievable through any design pattern either at runtime or design time.
"What happens if you modify the common object references in these lists, myArrList and urArrList ? We have 2 cases here: In the first one, you reassign the object reference using either of the lists. In this case, the value in the second list will remain unchanged.In the second case, you modify the internals of any of the common list elements - in this case, the change will be reflected in both lists."
I have written the following code, which tests the first case mentioned above, and i get the output as expected: myarrList remains unchanged. How can i test the second case ? My thoughts are ....'second case is untestable the following code, because String is immutable. I need to use StringBuilder or something else to write code for test of second case mentioned'.
ArrayList<String> myarrList = new ArrayList<>(); myarrList.add("one"); myarrList.add("two"); ArrayList<String> urarrList = new ArrayList<>(); urarrList.add("three"); urarrList.add("four"); System.out.println("ArrayLists setup");
In a project I'm ivolved in I have to dynamically add some components. All was going well until I had to generate data tables dynamically. I'm iterating a list of "SomeObject" and when I try to access a property of that object Glassfish tells me that object doesn't have such a property that is readable. I have getters for those properties and SomeObject implements Serializable as well. I used BalusC resources but I'm having no luck.
This program is basically complete. It compiles and runs. It is a college course assignment that I pretty much completed but for the last part in which I'm suppose to change the values of all fields and display the modified values using a toString method. Modifying the values of the fields is where I am stuck. I don't think I need to create a new text data file to do this. The instructor only asked that all the values of fields be changed and this was the last part of the assignment so I don't think it involves creating additional ObjectOutputStream and ObjectInputStream objects. I'm getting a NullPointerException error on line 161.Here is the code. I'm also including the input data file.
//create program so that objects of class can be serialized, implements interface Serialiable //create constructor with 4 parameters with accompanying get and set methods, Override toString method //create text file with 5 records, create Scanner object,ObjectOutputStream, and ObjectInputStream //create new ItemRecord object, change values of all fields in ItemRecord object using object's set methods //modify ItemRecord object using toString method
[hightlight =Java]import java.io.Serializable; public class ItemRecord implements Serializable

I have been having trouble with a recent hw assignment requiring us to sort user defined data types in an array. so far, i have implemented the sorting algorithms correctly but i cant seem to store a string and an integer together. I have an employee class
[public class employee { private String Name; private int IdNumber; public employee(int IdNumber,String Name){ this.Name=Name; this.IdNumber=IdNumber;}
[Code] .....
And in my app, i create a employee object-----> employee john=new employee(1020, "John");
How can I prompt my insert method to take in employee id and string name together?
I am trying to invoke some methods in a for loop in order to print some info stored in a List. But for some reason, compiler pops a message saying "cannot find symbol - method getEmpID(). You are using a symbol here (a name for a variable, method or class) that has not been declared in any visible scope." But I am pretty sure that method getEmpID (as also getName(), getAfm(), and payment() ) have been declared as public.
Note: My List contains objects of different type (SalariedEmployee, HourlyEmployee). I hope this is not the factor causing this problem.
Java Code:
import java.util.*; abstract class Employee{ private String name = ""; private String afm = ""; private long EmpID; static long count=0;
I have some class called sorted to sort the linked list through the nodes of the list. and other class to test this ability, i made object of the sort class called "list1" and insert the values to the linked list.
If i make other object called "list2" and want to merge those two lists by using method merge in sort class. And wrote code of
list1.merge(list2);
How can the merge method in sort class know the values of list1 that called it as this object is created in other class.
I am new to Java and have read books, the Java docs, and searched the Internet for my problem to no avail. I have an Array of objects that contains strings. How can I get the object's strings to print in a list so that the user can select that object to manipulate its attributes? For example, the user can select "Guitar 1" from a list and manipulate its attributes like tuning it, playing it, etc. I have a class called Instruments and created 10 guitar objects.Here is the code:
Instrument [] guitar = new Instrument[10]; for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { guitar[0] = new Instrument("Guitar 1"); guitar[1] = new Instrument("Guitar 2"); guitar[2] = new Instrument("Guitar 3"); guitar[3] = new Instrument("Guitar 4"); guitar[4] = new Instrument("Guitar 5"); guitar[5] = new Instrument("Guitar 6");
I have just started working with linked lists. I have a linked list of Objects and I want to be able to search for a specific object. But currently my code continues to return false. Also how would I go about removing the first index of the linked list.
public static void main(String[] args) { LinkedList<Cookies> ml = new LinkedList<>(); int choice = 0; while (choice >= 0) { choice = menu();
Suppose that you have an ArrayList and that it contains String objects. Which declaration of the ArrayList requires that objects retrieved using the get method be cast to Strings before calling a String method?
I. ArrayList a = new ArrayList(); II. ArrayList<Object> a = new ArrayList<Object>; III. ArrayList<String> a = new ArrayList<String>;
A. I only B. II only C. III only D. I and II only E. I, II, and III
I know that all of these are ways to declare an Array List, but I am unfamiliar with the last two since I usually just declare my Array Lists with the first option.
I am following those three tutorials and I have completed it with success.

But then, as author haven't implemented removeCountries method I tried to create it. What I did initially was to just add to class Countries this method:
public boolean removeCountry(Country country) { return countries.remove(country); }
But although compiler wasn't complaining it didn't work. Actually it worked last night (before reboot) but not today. Must be some SOAP iterator/binding thing or whatever. Or I thought that it worked but in fact it didn't.
Here are original classes:
//------------------------------- public class Country { String CountryId; String CountryName; public Country() { super();
[Code] ....
I would like to avoid my own iterator as JDeveloper can generate automatically iterators for webservices, but if I can't get it that way, what would be better way to write above mentioned iterator in removeCountry method?
Is there any way to remove object directly with something like this:
co.countries.remove(o); co.removeCountry(country)
using method
// This left unused public boolean removeCountry(Country country) { return countries.remove(country); }
I want to create a program where I need to create an object of list type such as text file will contain nos like 1,2,3,4,5 and write into text file and delete the in FIFO order i.e 1,2,3,4,5...how i can achieve to write a program? I tried bt everytime got concurrent modification exception or Array out of bound exception.
I am trying to put a reference to a given subclass object into a linked list, and then come back later, and invoke a method of the subclass object that is in a given spot in the linked list. This produces an error because Object does not have that method. Is it necessary to cast the object to the correct subclass every time I want to use one of its methods, or is there a way to convince the JVM to treat it as always of type MySubclass?
How to use the id parameter in my documents entity to download documents from a list of documents. Normally I use ListDataModel and the getRowData method. I would like to know how to achieve the same thing using an ordinary List object.
My list of documents is called List<CountryDocs> selectedDocs;
Clicking on the download link calls the following method in my managed bean:
@ManagedBean(name = "countryDocBean") @SessionScoped public class CountryDocBean { private List<CountryDocs> selectedDocs; public StreamedContent getDownloadedFile() {
[Code] ....
Debugging shows the value for the id is 0 and this results in a NullPointerException. I've tried several methods for grabbing the document id in my backing bean, but no luck yet. I also read about the the ViewParams and ViewAction method but they caused validation errors to do with the <f:metadata> tags. I don't know how to obtain this value using a normal List object.
I have an Array of objects that contains strings. I am new to Java and have read books, the Java docs, and searched the Internet for my problem to no avail.
