I'm doing homework and as far as input, my assignment reads: "Your program must take as input the name of a Java source code file such as the source file containing the source code of this assignment." So my question is, how do i do that without linking the directory directly (i.e. C:/users/...)? I'm using FileReader as shown below...

Lately I've been working with JDBC and writing queries in some Java programs. I've noticed that I keep experimenting with where I place my blocks of querying code. I've tried creating a private method in the class where the query is used, I've created utility classes where I can call the query when needed, and sometimes I've just put it in a localized block of code where I need to. Also, most often these queries are one-shot queries where I need to pull the data to populate a JTable.
In short, this has made me realize that I don't have a solid practice for organizing my queries in Java. So my question is "Is there a practice for organizing query code?".

I have been given a task to scan the contents of a websites source code, and use delimiters to extract all hyperlinks from the site and display them. We havent been told anything about how to do this so after some looking around online this is what I have so far:

I am operating java from the command line (using Terminal on Mac OSX 10.9.5).The current directory within Terminal is called "orange" and the following sourcecode file is in the orange directory :

I am trying to write a program that will generate a QR Code from an input text and also display some information about the input/output bits. So far I have created the frame and what to do next. And I'm not sure if I am on the right track since my level of programming is not that great. By the way, I am using zxing libraries from GitHub. I know, there are plenty of generators online for the QR Code, but that is not what I am looking for. As you can see on the attached image, I am more interested in the efficiency of encoding 2D data. Also, I noticed that almost all the online projects regarding 2D codes are for Android. Which is not very useful.
I am building a room management system in Java (Netbeans) and Ms Access. The jasper report is only showing code (source view) instead of design view. The GUI JFrame and Login JFrame are not displaying records in the database and the buttons are not working. Also the labels and text fields are not neatly arranged. I want to read in a text file(list of Names) using FileReader than Write to another file using FileWriter. Using FileWriter, I only want to write the Name starting with F to a new text file. I have the file reading from one text than writing to another text. The tricky part is filtering the names starting with only F.

I a simple server that receives bytes using TCP and then saves them to a file stream.Through many tests I have seen that the first packet received is always just the filename with no other data. The second packet received only has one byte and it is the first letter of the input text file. After this all packets are sent correctly, but I can't seem to figure out what is messing up the second packet. It also appears that the last packet is written twice.

Another peculiarity to me is that the second to last packet is always just "-" and then the last packet has the remainder of the magic string which terminates the file output stream.
I am aware that it is not safe to make the assumption that the file name will be sent in one go before the loop, but I wil fix that later. I am not concerned about it at all now. THe problem si that the loop should account for any amount read in, but for some reason the first packet always contains one letter, and the second packet picks up around 16000 bytes later for some reason.
