We are writing our own classes and methods. My instructor has provide the code

import java.util.*;
public class Assignment5 {
public static void main (String[] args) {
[Code].....
I am having trouble with the question counter. I need the counter to increase when c, d or e are entered. I think I need to set up a if or while loop but I'm not sure how to setup the variables. This is what I have for the counter so far.
Write a java program that will ask a user to input grades until the user inputs the sentinel value -1. The program should test each input to determine whether 0<=grade<=100. If the grade entered is within this range, the program should print "Grade accepted;" if not, the program should print "Invalid input".
Write a program that asks the user for an integer andthen prints out all its factors in increasing order. Use a class FactorGenerator with a constructor FactorGenerator(int numberToFactor) and methods nextFactor and hasMoreFactors. Supply a class FactorTester whose main methods reads a user input, constructs a FactorGenerator object and prints the factors.
Here is what I have so far for my main class and tester class
public class FactorGenerator { int factor; int number; int x; FactorGenerator(int numberToFactor) { number = numberToFactor; }
I have a LoginScreen class and one other class in my project. I want use user inputs (Username And Password) on other class if users details is true. I am stcuk at this point because when user attempt to Login connection is succesfully and other frame is coming to screen but i can reach user details anymore. Let me explain with codes;
LoginScreen class
/* * To change this license header, choose License Headers in Project Properties. * To change this template file, choose Tools | Templates * and open the template in the editor. */ package deneme3; import java.sql.Connection;
[code]....
You can see Button Action in MainProgramWindow " System.out.println( ??? );" How i can retrieve users inputs from this class ?
I realized that I was not filling the array with anything but now I'm having issues filling it correctly. It's only filling the array with three of the user inputs ....
import java.util.Scanner; public class DriverSort { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner scan =new Scanner(System.in); Sorter sorter = new Sorter(); int choice; // variable which says which sorting algorithm to use
I need to generate a league table in Java based on results provided in the shape of user input. I have the 6 teams in an array. I need to ask the user how many wins, draws, losses each team has had.
for (String element : teams) { System.out.println( "Please enter the number of wins, draws and losses for " + element); int[] wins = new int [6]; int[] draws = new int [6]; int[] losses = new int [6]; }
How do I pull 3 separate values from the user and then store each value in a separate element of each array? so if one team wins 3, draws 2 and loses 1 - I need to put 3 into the wins array, 2 into the draws array and 1 into the losses array? I then need to total all this in a table.
I'm working on an assignment for my Java Programming class that requires me to work with Multiple Classes.
Overview of the assignment: Create a "Database" that allows a user to input information about a College Class.
My program has three Classes:
The information that must be tracked in the Course Class is: - Section Number - Instructor - Classroom - Students (an ArrayList of class Student)
The information that must be tracked in the Student Class is: - Name - Major - GPA - Hours
The Driver class will use the main method to print the user a prompt asking for inputs, then display all of the user's inputs after he/she wished to exit the program.
I'm having no trouble with asking the user for inputs and then checking the validations for the inputs, I'm currently struggling with return a String that houses all of the user's inputs for the variables above. The information must be returned in a method called toString(). Both the Student and Course Class must have a toString() method that returns the information in the class (value of the variables), I must then call upon these methods from the main method of the Driver Class to print them back to the user.
The toString methods within the Student & Course Classes are at the bottom of the code
To Summarize: What I need to do within the toString() methods to return the values the user has inputted for the various variables? Such as.. Should I pass something through the method? Do I need the this keyboard to pass through the variable again? I just fear that I'm currently misunderstanding a very critical part of programming.
My Driver Class
import java.util.Scanner; public class Driver { Course courseInputs = new Course(); Student studentInputs = new Student(); public static void main(String[] args) {
import java.util.Scanner; public class CountStringNumbers { // show the number of Strings that were numbers . . .. public static void main(String []args){ int count = 0; int countNumbers=0; Scanner input=new Scanner(System.in);
[code]...
can count the numbers from 0-9 if the user puted but if it is 10 it doesnt count it , and i need to write all the numbers to have that option. . . . Is there an easy way that includes all the numbers? like if(word.equals(number)){<<<???? (numbers) i know htat doesnt work but is there anything similar ?? ??
countNumbers++; } System.out.println("Type Something , , , and to end the the termination type STOP"); word=input.nextLine(); count++; } System.out.println("You wrote "+count+" lines wich from those lines "+countNumbers+" were numbers and the programe terminated "); } }
I have an assignment where I'm supposed to write a program where the user inputs a month between 1-12 and then the right amount number in every month. I've tweaked the code a bunch of times, but I keep getting this error message:
insert "}" to complete StatementKALENDER_3.java insert "}" to complete BlockKALENDER_3.java
The code:
import java.util.*; import java.util.Scanner; public class KALENDER_3 } public static void main(String[] args){ Scanner scanner = new Scanner (System.in); System.out.print("Skriv ett manadsnummer: ");
[code].....
I think I have just forgot to put in a few { } symbols, maybe an open loop?
I have been stuck on this for the past 2 hours, basically we have to compare user input, put user input into an array and compare for equivalency. An example of the program:
Array 1 & 2 are equal Array 1 & 3 are not equal Array 1 & 4 are not equal.
This cannot be done by importing Java.util.Array at all!! (my research only find this to compare arrays ) which is why I am having trouble starting off. My code thus far:
import java.util.Scanner; public class Lab07b { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println("Enter Integer 1:"); int a = input.nextInt();
I'm developing a Swing application for the first time. To test my application, I have currently hardcoded some text labels and fields in a JPanel, so that a user can enter input details for a maximum of 3 segments. But this limits the maximum number of segments to 3. However, the requirement is that when the user enters the number of segments (could be greater than 3 as well), corresponding number of input sets need to be taken.
Screenshot attached, with values entered.
Basically I want to know how I should go about taking the inputs from the user.
I am having an issue with using FileWriter to print some text to a text file. In the following code, I am supposed to be able to print the initial attributes and the user changed inputs into a file but all I am getting is the memory locations of the objects I created in one long line.
package project3final; import java.io.*; import java.util.*; public class Project3Final { static class Instrument { char [] stringNames = {'E', 'A', 'D', 'G', 'B', 'E'}; private final String instrumentName;
Following is the code for my assignment where a user inputs his full name in a string from keyboard. It should be done using BufferedReader. The program will give his initials as output.
############################
For example: User inputs-> Ram Kumar Das
Program Returns-> R.K.D.
I am written the following piece of code. It does not return the correct output. If "Ram Kumar Das" is given as input, it gives R.K.K. as output. Arrays and objects are strictly not allowed.
Java Code:
import java.io.*; public class Assignment { static int i=0; static BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in)); public static void main (String args[]) throws IOException
The array size is fixed improve it to automatically increase the array size by creating a new larger array and copying the contents of the current array into it .I am using a course class and here is the code for the class
public class Course { private String courseName; private int numberOfStudents; private String[] students = new String[100]; public Course(String courseName)
[Code] ....
As you can see I have the array set to size 100, how do i make so it increments each time the user adds a student.
I'm working on an assignment that says the following.
" The array size is fixed in Listing 10.6. Improve it to automatically increase the array size by creating a new larger array and copying the contents of the current array to it.Implement the dropStudent method.Add a new method named clear() that removes all students from the course.
Write a test program that creates a course, adds three students, removes one, and displays the students in the course."
10.6 Listing
public class Course { private String courseName; private String[] students = new String[100]; private int numberOfStudents; } public Course(String courseName) { this.courseName= courseName;
[Code]...
My Test Code based off of book
public static void main(String[] args) { Course course1= new Course("Business"); course1.addStudent("Jay"); course1.addStudent("Silent Bob"); course1.addStudent("Dante"); course1.dropStudent("Jay");
[Code]....
My adjusted 10.6
public class Course { private String courseName; private String[] students = new String[100]; private int numberOfStudents; } public Course(String courseName) { this.courseName= courseName;
[Code]...
The problem I'm having is, for the first part of the question where I need to automatically increase the array size. I'm really not great at this stuff. I have tried breaking it down, but can't "get it", I guess.
I assume, it'd be a loop that checks to see if the student array is full and if so, do the increaseArray() part, by maybe multiplying the student array and then assigning it. I just don't know how to do it haha.
My *best* attempt at the loop so far has been
if (students == students.length){ int bigArray = 2*students.length; String increaseArray()= new String[students]; System.arraycopy(students, 0, increaseArray, 0, students.length); students= increaseArray;
I am trying to make a code that copies the users String to a char array. However, I am in a predicament: since I would not know the exact size of the users String I am left with the options of either making my array large by default, filled in with, lets say 25, empty spaces per index OR starting out with a default size of 1, with an empty space, and then some how increase the size from there.
At this moment I am leaning on the first option, creating a large default array and then deleting the unused values. However, this brings me to my actual question: if I set the non used indexes to null, if that wont give me an error, would that change the size of my array?
Ex: //lets say i finally copied all of the values and this is the result char[] word = {'b', 'o', 'b', ' ', ' '}; for(int i = word.length(); i > 0; i--){ if(word[i] == ' ')//delete the value so the size decreases word[i] = null;//if possible }
Consider the sequence of digits from 1 through N (N<=9) in increasing order: 1 2 3 4 N
Insert either a +(for addition) or a - (for subtraction) between each of the digits so that the resultant sum is zero. Print all possible combinations that sum to zero.
Example: Enter a number: 7 1+2-3+4-5-6+7=0 1+2-3-4+5+6-7=0 1-2+3+4-5+6-7=0 1-2-3-4-5+6+7=0
I am using a 64 bit Win 7 Pc with 64-bit JVM and we get the error: Java heap space. So we want to increase the Java heap size but not for one application but for every application or in general.
We tried with the java -xmx command but it didn't work...
We tried setting the system variable JAVA_OPTS but again it didn't work...
(5,0) with cost 12 (6,0) with cost 14 (6,1) with cost 15 (6,2) with cost 20 (7,2) with cost 44 (7,3) with cost 52 (7,4) with cost 54 (6,3) with cost 71 (5,3) with cost 74 (4,3) with cost 96
Greatest path is of length 10.
Now, the code that I have works, kind of. Instead of recurring several times at each point, it only recurs once.
So say I'm looking at (1,1). With (1,1) being 57. The area around it looks like this.
97 47 56 35 57 41 89 36 98
Now when I look at it, there are several paths it can take. It can go 57, 97 or 57, 89 or 57, 98. However, I'm pretty sure that it just uses the first one that corresponds with the first if statement that is valid. So I start checking north of the value, then northeast, then east, then southeast, which at southeast is where I find my first greater than value. After it finds it's first valid number, it then continues from that number, instead of checking if there are other longer paths stemming from the original value.
In conjunction with that, you can see that the printout just returns all paths from each value. Which isn't what I want. I need a way to store the longest current path, then check each path after to see if it's longer. If it is, it's replaced, if not, it stays the same.
I've also attached Ass1Q2_test4.txt
import java.util.*; import java.io.*; public class MaxIncreasingSub {
Ok, so I'm making a game with a space ship that flies around the universe and discovering new planets. It works fine so far, but I'm looking to make it perform better and be better compatible with lesser-processors.So, I'm trying to put in an FPS counter and an entirely new game loop so that my game can decide for me what FPS I should use.
I have two classes. Heres the big, main one: [Java] package cyentw.game.src; import java.awt.Color; import java.awt.Font; impor - Pastebin.com *I want to change the loop and put an FPS counter in around line 456, you can scroll past the rest if you'd like*And heres the init frame one, in case you'd like to see it for some reason.
Java Code:
package cyentw.game.src; import javax.swing.JFrame; public class Start extends JFrame{ public static JFrame frame; public static int WIDTH = 500; public static int HEIGHT = 500; public Start() {
[code]....
how to make my game loop as quickly (or a bit slower) as it can, and my FPS is static.
I have a question related to the code below, that I do not understand. The aim is to count all files and subdirectories in an ArrayList full of files and subdirectories. So I have to count every file and every subdirectory.
The code concerning counting files is clear to me - every time d is of the type file I have to increment n by one. However I thought that I have to do the same thing in case d is a directory, so I would have written the same code for directories.
So what does "n += ((Directory) d).countAllFiles();" mean? In my understanding the method countAllFiles() is applied again on the object Directory ( as Directory is the class that contains this method), but how is n incremented by this? I thought n should be incremented by one as we did with files.
public int countAllFiles() { int n = 0; for(SystemFile d : content) { if(d instanceof File) { n++;
This is the code I have written so far. This program calculates tax from multiple tax payers.
import javax.swing.JOptionPane; public class CalcutateTax { public static void main (String [] args)
[code]....
The problem is I cant think how to ask the use if he wants to calculate tax due for another taxpayer. If the user says yes, keep calculating, otherwise exit from the program. And how do I keep count of how many people got their tax calculated? Say for example,
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog (null, " We calculated tax for " + xnumber + " number of people.");
This is the question asked on my assignment ask the user if he wants to calculate the tax due for another taxpayer if so, do it again.At the end of the main method, output a message in a dialog box that says: Hello, We calculated taxes for [number of taxpayers].replace [number of taxpayers] with the actual number of taxpyers you calculated taxes for.
I'm having trouble with my program for my class. The program just has to be able to have a button and show how many times a user has clicked it.
Every time I compile it I get errors such as:
unable to find symbol x where the code is executed when the button is clicked
What can I do?
import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import javax.swing.JPanel; public class Program { public static void main(String[] args){ int x = 0;
