Insert Data From Keyboard And Check Whether Any Of Constructor Fields Remained Empty
May 12, 2015
I'm trying to use in the constructor inserts from keyboard and then check whether any of the constructors fields remained empty. Let say my constructor is:
public SomeClass(String a, String b, String c)throws SomeClassException{
if (a == null || b == null || c == null) {throw new SomeClassException("Some message"); // here is the empty test
} //...
Thus I prepared method: insertConstruct() as follows:
public static String insertConstruct(){
String lettering = null;
Scanner sc = new Scanner(System.in);
lettering= sc.nextLine();
return lettering;
}
And during creating the new object in some main method I call:
// ...
ClassName obj1;
obj1 = new ClassName(insertConstruct(),insertConstruct(),insertConstruct());
//...
The problem is not with inserting data but with leaving the field empty. When I pass any field just with keyboards Enter, the empty test doesnt return me any message about it. While it works if I build object with the constructor like:
1) productType that have name and price of the productType and an empty consturcor. 2) superMarket that have name of supermarket and arraylist of productTypes (
private ArrayList<ProductType> products;
) and an empty constructor.
In each class I have function that get input from console and should store it into each class variables.
In productType i have function:
public void getFromUser() throws IOException { BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in)); System.out.println("Enter product name:"); name = br.readLine(); System.out.println("Enter price:"); price = Integer.parseInt(br.readLine());
[Code] ....
The main is something like:
public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException{ SuperMarket s1 = new SuperMarket(); SuperMarket s2 = new SuperMarket(); s1.getFromUser(); }
The problem is when i get to line "products.add(i,p)" I get java.lang.NullPointerException
In the debug mode I can see that when I get to this line the "products" is null.
why do you think this happening, when I do "new SuperMarker()" in the main it should run the empty constructor and create new arraylist...
i need to seek all data in result set one by one.i excuted a query which i don't know the result of it...it could be have one result in result set or 10 result.i tested this code :
PHP Code:
Query = "select * from book" while (Rs.next)) { row.add(new Book(Rs.getString(i)));
//Book is a class
}
but didn't work. do we have any other way we seek the result set without rs.next() ???
I have been given a question about a object creation resulting in the constructor of the Time class being called, and to write the constructor's header new Time(21, 39, 55);
So, this would be simply "public Time" and have to give meaningful names to formal parameters, which is what i don't understand. Is it just private int hours; etc? I have also been told to attempt to write the body of the constructor and will need to estimate how the code in the body will work and to invent some fields.
I have a program which consist of several classes. The program reads a pom file and parses the data and then writes the data to a static table. The issue I'm having is with writing my LIB file data to my table. In the HtmlDataTable Class Im trying to write the files that are read in the lib directory to the table. My table currently consist of 3 columns (missing jar files,Lib Directory files, and POM file data) currently Im only able to write the missing jar files data to my table. In the HtmlDataTable class there is a for statement where I write the missing jar file data to my table. Im also trying to write the contents of the Lib directory within this statement as well. This is where I'm having my issue. My other classes consist of a SAX parser which parses the xml file, a class that creates my static table and a class that compares the jar files in my lib directory to the jar files in my pom file. . Theres a lot of code so I included the parts I felt were useful. If needed I can include the other classes as well.
public class ReadPomFile extends DefaultHandler { public static void main(String[] args) { try { // obtain a SAX based parser to parse XML document
It works in the first time. But, after sometime the data is not retrieved and display empty screen. Once, i stop and start the server again, the data is getting retrieved again. But, later when we refresh the empty page is getting displayed again.
I am creating a portal using JSP and MySQL with eclipse IDE. I have a scenario where data is stored on draft table and is retrieved then stored on another table. I need the entry in the draft table to be deleted after the insertion. When I tried to run the code it redirects to success page but makes no impact on database(neither inserts not gets deleted).
I can insert data to table by using JSP Scriptlet easily but I have a hard time with servlet.
public class UsertToDatabase() { public boolean inserUser(String name, String email, String pwd) throws SQLException { PreparedStatement pstmt = null; boolean flag = false; System.out.println("start"); openConn(); System.out.println("start_1"); if(conn == null) {
[code]....
I am positive that the above code function fine. The problem is whenever I call UserToDB() class inside the servlet, and I got this error: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.postgresql.
Driver which mean that my conn (connection) is not connected to the database but I have ensure to do so by calling openConn() before start the transaction.
I need my java program to insert data into my access database. I get no errors in my code, but it never inserts, deletes the data in my database. Here is my code:
import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import java.sql.*; public class INS extends Frame implements ActionListener{ Frame f; Label l1, l2; TextField t1, t2; Button b1, b2, b3, b4, b5; Connection c;
I have tried this code to insert into datbase if not exists but i get an Exception in thread "main" com.mysql.jdbc. exceptions.jdbc4. MySQL SyntaxErrorException: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'WHERE NOT EXISTS (SELECT teamName FROM Teams WHERE teamName = teamName) LIMIT 1' at line 1
stmt.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO Teams(teamId,teamName,league) VALUES ("+i+",'"+loser+"','"+league2+"')WHERE NOT EXISTS (SELECT teamId,teamName,league FROM Teams WHERE teamName = teamName) LIMIT 1;");
I need getting detailed examples about how I can read/insert into database using JSF code for its different components. I am a beginner in JSF and I have the basics, however, I need the best source which it has useful, easy and detailed steps to understand the techniques for connecting to the DB and how to insert or read data from the database.
I tried to search, but I found the lessons are not useful or not described in details.
Below is a picture of a frame which needs is formed/opens as result of the button-click event of a button. I am copying the code of the entire action listener as well. The problem is that the size of the frame set by setSize(x, y), but the components don't appear accordingly. The size of the frame has increased (by setSize(x, y), i had set a different size earlier which was smaller) and so the components appear at one side on the frame.
Java Code:
static class btninstr_Action implements ActionListener{ public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent arg0) { JFrame frame2= new JFrame(); frame2.setVisible(true); frame2.setSize(500,500);// add custom panel to get perfect work
I want to create an application wich can handle xml files ( display xml files's data on a html page) + insert those data into an oracle database.
I'm new to that, it a project for my internship. wich API is the most appropriate for that ( Jdom or Xstream or other), wich framework i can use ( there is only 3 IHM : connexion, upload file, display data, confirmation insertion data)?
I'm having an issue returning data from a constructor. This is an assignment, and the specifications were that two classes are to be used, one for the variables and assigning methods, and one for the main method and the printing. This app compiles, but returns "0" for the isbn number, and I'm sure it's because I'm not doing something right with my constructors. My code is below
public class Book { /* Declare Variables */ public static int isbn; /* Constructor */ public Book (int isbn) { isbn = 454545;
[code]....
There are other variables to add, but if I can get one working, I can get the rest working.
how to differ between fields that are not exists to fields that are null? because in my api when someone wants to delete a field he sends null instead of a value. and if he doesnt want to effect this feild he doesnt send it.
So I want to write a constructor that creates a new object with the data from the array values. I don't know where to start. It's the last method in the code:
public class Measurements { private double[] values; private double[] newArray; private int n; //numberofvalues private double[] ms; public Measurements(int max) { //constructor
I need to process 10000 xml files and verify and insert the data into database. I am loading all the files in the file object and iterating one by one. I am getting the memory issue. How to handle this?
