JDBC :: GetMaxPoolSize In Java With Glassfish And MySQL
Mar 8, 2015
I have an java connection pool using glassfish and mysql jdbc connector. All is fine, my datasource is working using JNDI, etc. But i need to know some info about of connection pool status (maxPoolSize, current active, etc..). I need it to monitoring the connection in the web app.
Some of my configuration.
sun-resources.xml file:
<resources>
<jdbc-resource enabled="true" jndi-name="jdbc/db" object-type="user" pool-name="dbPool">
</jdbc-resource>
<jdbc-connection-pool allow-non-component-callers="false" associate-with-thread="false"
connection-creation-retry-attempts="0"
connection-creation-retry-interval-in-seconds="10" connection-leak-reclaim="false"
[Code] ....
All work fine. But i need get de pool size and MysqlDataSource class don't have a method to get it. In tomcat, i use org.apache.tomcat.jdbc.pool.DataSource with getMaxActive() and getActive(). And it work fine. How i can obtain it on glassfish server?

This question is not about syntax but a best way to handle something. What is the best way to store a image into a database? For example converting it into binary etc. I just wanted to get some opinions.

I am trying to run a simple program that connects to a mysql database and prints out some fields. I am using Eclipse.
THe problem I am having is on the following line of code.
Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
I get an error:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver

at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source)
at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)

I have done some research and from what I have found is that I need to alter the class path to pick up the driver. When I downloaded the .msi I ran it and then the program closed. Where the files are ??? How to locate and import the file so I need to get my program to run?
I have included all the of the source code below.
package mySQLConnect;
import java.sql.*;
public class Connect {
// JDBC Driver name and database URL
static final String JDBC_DRIVER = "com.mysql.jdbc.Driver";
static final String BD_URL = "jdbc:mysql://localhost/sstbde";

I don't understand the classpath requirements for facelets and CDI on glassfish. I'm using Netbeans, and have the following:
thufir@dur:~/NetBeansProjects/EntAppWeb$ jar -tf dist/EntAppWeb.ear
META-INF/
META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
lib/
EntAppWeb-ejb.jar
EntAppWeb-war.war
lib/javaee-api-7.0.jar
thufir@dur:~/NetBeansProjects/EntAppWeb$
when I look at javaee-api it has javax.enterprise.context.ApplicationScoped and javax.inject.Named which are the particular imports being used in the bean. The facelets part is working, the template navigates correctly. It deploys to Glassfish and runs, except...there's no output from the @Named bean:
package dur.beans;
import javax.enterprise.context.ApplicationScoped;
import javax.inject.Named;
@Named("nextClient")
@ApplicationScoped
public class NextClient implements NextClientLocal {
[code]...
Now it's working. I can't figure what I did for the life of me...that's the desired output, each time the page is accessed the counter increments.Now it works. Is this on the right track? Way off base? I have an entity class from a database which I'd like to link up to this, and output the class.I can inject the entity into NextClient? I'm trying to do the "R" for Read in a CRUD application with CDI and facelets (using templates).
I've found much reference material on EJB, but it seems a mishmash. I just want to use CDI. What am I doing right/wrong, or, besides the PDF from Oracle on Java EE 7, what are good CDI reference material's?

calling a parameterized stored procedure in java jdbc from sql server.The stored procedure goes like this in sql
create proc patientreg
@id int
as
begin
select [patient_id],[Psurname], [pFirstname], [pMiddlename], [reg_date], [DOB], [Sex], [Phone_num], [Addr],[Email],[dbo].[fncomputeage](DOB) from [dbo].[Patient_registration] where [patient_id] = @id
end
please note dbo.fncompute(DOB) is a function
To call it in jdbc it goes like this
try{
String str = "{call patientreg(?)}";
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbcdbc:GeneralHospit al");
cstmt = con.prepareCall(str);
cstmt.setInt(1, Integer.parseInt(t.getText()));
[code]....
after doing it this way it throwing an exception: Error:java.sql.SQLException: Parameter 1 is not an OUTPUT parameter.

What i want is that the two systems are synchronized in such a way that when we update a value in the database, it is immediately shown on the graph.i have tried to use a refresh button but decided this would increase the overhead.

I'm new to Java. I need to run a SQL server stored procedure(that creates a unique job number) from Oracle SQL Developer (JDBC) in Java. The same Java code will be used in Applescript to run the SP. I found a code snippet online with the similar requirement. How to embed my SP in below code snippet? Below is the Stored Procedure and Code Snippet:
SP
EXEC Int.dbo.GetNewJobNumber '6852', 'Test Job', 'Manual SQL Query'
6852- CustomerCode,
Test Job - Job Title,
Manual SQL query - Shows how new job number was created.
Code Snippet:
import java.sql.CallableStatement;
import java.sql.Connection;
import java.sql.DriverManager;
import java.sql.ResultSet;
public class Main {
public static void main(String[] argv) throws Exception {

I am developing my first Java application and the database I use is MySQL. I have created two separate buttons; one to insert new data into my database and the other to update the database when changes are made.
Each button is working perfectly, but I now want to combine both functions into just the save button. Thus, whether I am entering new data or modifying existing data, the save button should use an IF ELSE condition to decide whether to use the INSERT or UPDATE command.
My problem is, how do I write this IF ELSE statement? What should be the condition? For example;
IF(what? ){
String sql ="Insert into Table1 (classID,className,counselorID,startDate,endDate) values (?,?,?,?,?)";
}ELSE{
String sql2 = "update Table1 set classID = '"+value1+"',className='"+value2+"',counselorID='"+value3+"',startDate='"+value4+"',endDate='"+value5+"'
where classID = '"+value1+"'";
}

I've got a very simple java program (J.java, see below) on my application server that successfully connects to an Oracle 11.2 database on a database server (both servers are Linux CentOS) using JDBC thin driver from Oracle.
As you can see from the setURL command in the Java code below, I've configured the application and database servers to sit next to each other, and they're on the same network (cross-cable connected to each other), so there's no network traffic on these (development) boxes except my code.
The problem is the execution time varies a lot. If I run it 5 times, it (seemingly randomly) could take 0.01 seconds, or 10 seconds, or 50 seconds, or over a minute to execute. If it takes over a minute (roughly), the program doesn't complete, but the error shown below is returned instead.
------error returned when execution take more than about 1 minute-------

I've used this connection code block as well as the contstructors before, but this just won't work. for (int i=0;i<ColumnCount;i++) {
System.out.println("Inside for");
Label label=new Label(i,0,rsmd.getColumnName(i+1),cellFormat);
sheet.addCell(label);
WritableCell cell = sheet.getWritableCell(i+1, 0);
System.out.println("Column " + rsmd.getColumnName(i+1)+ " inserted");
cell.setCellFormat(cellFormat);
