I am trying to move a JLabel in a JPanel, but can't seem to make it work. I can't provide a compiling code, but a few fragments. I have a JLabel [] array. i want to move with the mouse elements of this array. Let's say i want to move JLabel[i]. I implemented this:
Java Code:
static int labelY; static Point labelX; static Boolean flag = false; jLabel[i].addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter(){ public void mousePressed(MouseEvent evt){ labelY=evt.getY();
[Code]...
I used the bool flag because i can't make changes to the label when it is inside an anonymous class. I also tried using setLocation but that did not work also. I don't get any errors when compiling. But when i run it and try to drag the JLabel[i] i get a long list of errors:
Java Code:
Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NullPointerException at puzzle.hw$1$2.mouseDragged(hw.java:276) at java.awt.Component.processMouseMotionEvent(Unknown Source) at javax.swing.JComponent.processMouseMotionEvent(Unknown Source) at java.awt.Component.processEvent(Unknown Source) at java.awt.Container.processEvent(Unknown Source)
I read many posts online and watched tutorials on YouTube. I can't seem to get this work. Notice I am not using any drawing/graphics capabilities - I'd like to keep it this way as we have not gotten that far yet in my studies.The image is in a source folder titled Images under/in my project.
Java Code:
private JPanel jpImage = new JPanel(); private JLabel lblImage; private ImageIcon image; private Image img; // All those above defined prior to method // Within method (relevant to code above) ...
I am adding JLabels to my JPanel, and the last one always does not show up. For example if I add 3 JLabels, the 3rd will not show up. If i change it to add 4, the 4th will not show up, but the 3rd will now. Here is a snipit of what my code looks like:
A workaround that I DO NOT want to keep doing is to put an extra fake JLabel at the end of the for loop, that way everything I want to show up does, but the fake one does not.
i have very critical problem in my collage project i have try many code but still i cant solve this problem, i want to display image on jlabel or jpanel with respect of components size without use of drawimage method
I have to create 3 JLabel for Option, Square and Direction. Well, I did but its not in the right place. It should be in the right Panel but i did change the code so its in panelRight1 but its still not changing? Its somehow not working and no matter how i try to change the position of it, it doesnt change at all.
import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import javax.swing.*; public class CBallMaze extends JFrame implements ActionListener { /** * */ private JMenu[] menu = {
Is there a way to create insets for the JPanel without using the GridBagLayout, or createEmptyBorder() because the panel already wants to have an etched border?
Create a dnd (dungeons and dragons) character creator and back ground generator, have it display and run on a gui, to start with i decided to creator the gui as i go so i can see the progress, first i tried eclipse and windows builder, well after 1 day of reinstalling windows builder in about 5 different ways from multiple guides and sometimes getting it to partly work ...
After doing some more research I have figured out how to get the main program to display the gui . Heres what i have:
package com.mrgreaper; import javax.swing.*; public class MainWindow { private JPanel mainWindow; private JLabel playerlbl; private JLabel playerNamelbl;
[Code] .....
Now this works fine and the gui displays when the program is run but I can't change the text of any of the jlabels or textfield. If I try to do it in the main class i need to change them from private to public static but then in the form builder it says "cannot bind to static field *name of field*" but if i take static off then i cant change its value!
From what i understand this is because the window is an instance, so how to i change the value in that instance? I could put all my code in the one class, the one that creates the gui, but i really want it seperate, i would like the gui to update as the code runs... So how do i do it, how do i change the contents of jlabels on the fly, read the contents of text boxes on the fly etc....
I tried adding a getter setter
public void setCharFirst(JLabel charFirst) { this.charFirst = charFirst; } in the MainWindow.class
Then i tried to set it from my main function
MainWindow.setCharFirst("test");
but it cant access it as my main function is static and it is not now can i make it static...
I have coded to create jPanel as image and save to desktop but the image is saved only in my src folder in My Documents. Here is my code-
public static BufferedImage getScreenShot(Component component){ BufferedImage image= new BufferedImage(component.getWidth(),component.getHeight(),BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB); component.paint(image.getGraphics());
I can't figure out how to place a JPanel from a class(Game) in to a another class(Core). I have bean stuck on this for about three days now I bean doing my research but no luck so now I think I should ask directly so here I am. Now to state clearly I am trying to place a JPanel named Game_Screen witch is in another class named Game into a JFrame named frame witch is in a another class named Core.
Now both of this classes are with in the same package and my IDE Is Eclipse.The JPanel Game_Screen has other swing pieces attached to it that should also be added with the panel on to the frame.But the change is screen should only happen when I click the buttons New Legend(N),Load Legend(L),Help(H) what already happens is that when you click any of this buttons menu.setVisible(false); is activated making everything on screen at the time disappear from the screen but the panel does not a pear.
Here's my code:
//Class - Core------- package Source; import java.awt.*; import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.event.*; public class Core { static Game GG = new Game(); public static void main(String[] args) { JFrame frame = new JFrame();
I'm trying to create a chess program that uses a JPanel with an 8 by 8 grid layout with 64 jlabels with icons. However, I don't want the icons to be distorted if the user resizes the window in such a way that makes the panel not square. Is there any way I could create a JPanel that maintains a square aspect ratio when it is resized?
I have made four apps and I want to put each of them in one project to make a big app.So,I have made a JFrame which has a lot of Jpanels inside.My question is how I can write different class for every Jpanel because I try to put all of them in one class,and it was not a good idea. Also, I do not want to open an other window when I choose an app. I want to have a Jpanel for every app. I use Cardlayout, I have read the tutorials but I can not understand. Also,I thought to make a different JFrame but I do not want to open a different window when I open a different app.
In the class below I'm trying to create a class that will accept dates in various formats and create a range. The first constructor is easy because I send it the begin date and end date as Date objects. Now I want to send a month(and year) in a constructor and derive the begin and end dates from it. In my constructor that accepts the month/year I need to put the this(startDate, endDate) at the top to be allowed, but the parameters are not built yet.
package com.scg.athrowaway; import java.util.Calendar; import java.util.Date; public class DateRange { private Date startDate; private Date endDate;
I have a JPanel class that creates a left panel and a right panel. the left panel and right panel both have one button each. What I’m trying to accomplish is when I click on the button in the left panel that it updates the button in the right panel. I have to do this without changing anything in the right panel.Basically I have to have LeftPanel have a way to keep track of an instance of RightPanel and I would have to do this through the JPanel class. But I have no clue where to begin on even accomplishing this.
How to create object for "class B" and call the "function_B" from other different class D where class D has no connection with class A? Here is my program.
public class A(){ void print(){} } class B{ void function_B(){} } class C{ void function_C(){} }
Here, A, B, C are in the same package. But class D is in different package.
Design a class named Person and its two subclasses named Student and Employee. Make Faculty and Staff subclasses of Employee. There is also a MyDate class as explained below. A person has a name, address, phone number, and email address. A student has a status (freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior). Define the status as an integer which can have the value 0 (for "Freshman"),
1 (for "Sophomore"), 2 (for "Junior"), and 3 (for "Senior"),
but don't allow the status to be set to any other values. An employee has an office, salary, and dateHired. The dateHired is a MyDate field, which contains the fields: year, month, and day. The MyDate class does not explicitly inherit from any class, and it should have a no-arg constructor that sets the year, month, and day to the current year, month, and day. The MyDate class should also have a three-argument constructor that gets three int arguments for the year, month and day to set the year, month and day.
A faculty member has office hours and a rank. Define the rank as a String (for values like "Professor" or "Instructor"). A staff member has a title, which is also a String. Use data types for the fields as specified, or where one is not specified, use a data type that is appropriate for the particular field. Write a test program called TestEveryone.java that creates a Person, Student, Employee, Faculty, and Staff object, and invoke their toString() method (you don't need to call the objects' toString() method explicitly).
Note: Your MyDate.java class is the object class that your dateHired field is created from in the Employee.java class.
Do not use the Person, Employee or Faculty classes defined on pages 383 and 384 of the book. Create new ones.Here is the code I have so far concerning the employee and MyDate.
public class Employee extends Person { private String office; private double salary; //private MyDate dateHired; //7 argument constructor for employee public Employee(String name, String phoneNumber, String email, String address, String office, double salary /*MyDate dateHired*/) { super(name, phoneNumber, email, address);
The assignment is to create a SmartString class that implements a SmartStringInterface class (created by professor) and implements a few methods. We are basically taking a string and then taking various substrings and inserting, deleting them and undoing changes as well. Here are the methods in the interface to use along with the parameters.
public interface SmartStringInterface { public void insert(int pos, String sstring); public void delete(int pos, int count); public void undo(); public String toString();
The Undo is supposed to be able to be called multiple times (to be tested using a driver program that we must create) but the part that's got me is that the changes are only supposed to be stored. Currently, I am storing the "new" string after each change onto a stack, so that undo can just pop off the stack and it will revert to the previous string. Professor said that was wrong, so I don't know how to do it. Here is what I have so far (some of the code we have is using default StackADT stuff from our book, so if you need that I can post as well. You can see in the undo method where I currently save the string. We can use multiple stacks if needed, but the less the better. Must use at least 1. The exception code is already coded for us in another file also. I am only having to code these methods and the driver to test.
import java.util.Arrays; public class ArrayStack<T> implements StackADT<T> private final static int DEFAULT_CAPACITY = 100 private int top; private T[] stack;
I am making a game in java and i want to make a title screen. What I am trying to do is make a jpanel and load another jpanel when a button is pressed in one of the japenls. Here is the code for the runner
import java.awt.BorderLayout; import javax.swing.JFrame; public class Runner extends JFrame { // Have these set up so they can be seen everywhere public static final int GAMEWIDTH = 540; public static final int GAMEHEIGHT = 710; static boolean loading = false;
[Code] ....
here is the code for the jpanel that loads the other jpanel
I have a Main() class that extends JPanel and I'm trying to add Card() that also extends JPanel.When I add a Card() or Main() object to the JFrame directly, it works fine. The problem arises when I try to add a Card() object to the Main() object.
I edited the code a little bit to make it easier to read so hopefully it's fine.
Main() code: public class Main extends JPanel implements Runnable { // HARDCODED OPTIONS public static final int WIN_WIDTH = 1200; public static final int WIN_HEIGHT = 800;
public static final int GRID_X = 9; public static final int GRID_Y = 5;
I'm new to Java and I have an assignment to create a Sphere class that will allow you to create Sphere objects using the code below. Then create a program called SphereTester that prompts the user for the radii of two spheres in meters. The program should display which sphere is larger and by how many cubic meters and display only four digits after the decimal point. I have the sphere class given to us for the assignment which is this:
Java Code: public class Sphere { // instance variable (i.e., a field) private double radius; // constructor for the Sphere class public Sphere(double r) { radius = r;
Why we create a driver class?Instead of creating a driver class, if we want to compile our code so will it show output? Let say, we've created a class GradeBook of the institution for students.So they can easily view their profile information and scores in different semesters.so when we have created a class for this purpose, should we create a driver class or not?What is the big advantage of creating a driver class?
