JSF :: Custom Page That Can Handle Get And Post Request Directly

Jun 24, 2014

Having with LSL and JSF working together? The only thing I have gotten to work with LSL is PHP, and I know I could get JSP working with it with a little research. However, I rather not mix them on my server.

The only requirement for LSL to work with it is there needs be a custom page that can handle get and post request directly. I have not done this with JSF yet so I'm wondering how that would look.

Servlets :: Segregation Of POST And GET Request

Apr 8, 2014

We have a big application which is implemented in basic servlet. WE have Get and Post request in servlet. I want to provide them security if any malicious attack will happen on the form submit method. I want to make it secure. In detail, suppose if any user want to submit form/ any ajax request from my application and if he/she changes the method of submission from POST to GET then how I will recognize this?

I know that HTTPServletRequest object have GetMethod() but how I will detect that it is not changed by Tamper data/Fidler/Watir. One more way, I googled is by using GetQueryString() method but lot of the places I have query paramater in my POST request.

Servlets :: Unicode Post Request Parameters

Feb 10, 2014

I developed some servlet to get unicode parameters via post request. It worked perfectly fine since I set the encoding as below:

protected void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException {
HttpSession session = request.getSession(false);
response.setCharacterEncoding("UTF-8");
response.setContentType("text/html");
request.setCharacterEncoding("UTF-8");
String fileContent = request.getParameter("fileContent");
}

Now that I have set up my dev environment on a new machine with new eclipse, it does not work.

It displays Ï instead of π.

I've already tried adding URIEncoding="UTF-8" to server.xml which did not work since it only affect get not post. I figured out how to get the parameter with correct encoding on the new system:

String[] parameters = URLDecoder.decode(request.getQueryString(), "UTF-8").split("&");

But I cannot believe that this is the solution because then what's the point of having request.getParameter. I already know that:

String sss = new String(fileContent.getBytes(),"UTF-8");

would not work.

JSF :: Loading Part Of Page Using AJAX - How To Handle CommandButtons

Jun 25, 2014

I have a page which lists items using a ui:repeat. The repeat is surrounded by my h:form tag.

Now I have made it so that when click an item, then I load some item details - render them in their own xhtml file and inject the result into the dom tree.

This is causing some problems.

* My injected content has commandButtons and commandLinks which do not work because I don't have a form in my injected page - since this would cause nested forms :-(
* tried to replace commandButtons and commandLinks and instead create unique url's that I can call to get my work done - but how to I then re-render a panelGroup on then page? tried using jsf.ajax.request but I'm not able to get part of the page (a shoppingcart) to update

Basic outline

<h:form>
<table>
<ui:repeat ...>
<tr><td onclick="...">Click here to load item details</td></tr><tr><td id="itemDetailPlaceholder"></td></tr>
</ui:repeat>
</table>
</h:form>

I've found the HttpClient from Apache, but I had no luck. All the tutorials and samples I can find on the net are for 3.x. I've tried adopting the samples with the HttpClient 4.1 docs, but I failed.

I have a target url of a page and source file path. I get the basic idea of what needs to happen, I am just finding it hard to implement it.

Unable To Implement Custom Request Method In HTTP Header While Posting Data To Server URL

Jun 26, 2015

I have been trying to implement custom request method in HTTP header while posting my data to the server URL. My application specific URL accepts -X parameter and -d for the data and it is mandatory for that url. Basically I am trying to dump JSON data into my influx DB using CURL command which is working fine from the shell. But the issue is, if I am implementing the same in java with proper approach, it is not supported or working. My CURL command is :

curl -X POST -d '<my_json_data>' '<my_url>'

How can I implement the same in java using HttpUrlConnection or other available approach?

JSF :: 1.2 - Add Focus To Certain Element On Page Using Custom Component

Apr 28, 2014

I don't know if this is possible before JSF2.0, but I got a requirement that basically says that I need to be able to add focus to a certain element on the page using a custom JSF 1.2 component.

Currently, I do this with a short jQuery method where you add a class called 'focus' to the inputText component you want focus on. This works perfectly, but I need to also foresee a nested component inside h:inputText to do this.

Example:

<h:inputText id="myFirstTextField" value="#{bean.someText}">
<o:focus/>
</h:inputText>

I had thought about just putting an element with a certain class and using a jQuery selector to get its parent, but then I realized the html input tag does not allow subtags and that couldn't work, so I need something that won't be rendered but will do the job.

Migrating is evidently not an option.

I'm using Seam 2.1.2 and richfaces 3.3.4

EJB / EE :: JPA Exceptions - How To Handle

Apr 14, 2014

In my EJB modules, to prevent that any JPA exception is ever thrown, I check the condition that would cause the exception beforehand. For example, the exception javax.persistence.EntityExistsException is never thrown because, before persisting the entity, I check if such primary key already exists in the DB. Is it the right way to do this?

Another approach is too allow the JPA exceptions to be thrown and catch them in a try-catch block, and then throw my custom exception from the "catch" block. However it requires to call EntityManager.flush () at the end of the "try" block. Otherwise the exception throw could be deferred and never be caught by my block.
