JSP / JSTL :: Page Set Bean Variables But Give NullPointerException When Bean Try To Merge In DB
Nov 21, 2013I'm new to JSP but I've to use it to grab data coming from an external site, pass data to a Bean, write data in a DB and redirect the user to another page. Follow the JSP page.

On the console I see the prints but I receive the NullPointerException

Passing Object From JSP Page Through JSTL Into Controller Method
May 12, 2015I need to pass advanced object into controller from JSP page, but I always get null result.It's a controller method:

And I call this singleton bean from a stateless session bean like this

But resource.returnString(r); gives a org.apache.jasper.JasperException: java.lang.NullPointerException I started the glassfish server in debug mode and found out that "resource" was null. but @PostConstruct in singleton does print which means singleton bean exists.
Can we call singleton beans with no interface in such a way form a session bean? I actually want to acquire instance of singleton bean when a client invokes method in Client bean...
EJB / EE :: Session Bean Must Not Extend Another Session Bean?
Nov 9, 2014I have tried this example ([URL].../) with CarDao extending the BaseDao, it works like a charm.However, from the CarDao class, my NetBeans underlined the class name “CarDao” with the error message “A session bean must not extend another session bean.” But I can compile, deploy and run the application without any problem.
I have also heard that a session bean cannot extend another session bean, but why it works here?
I am using Java EE 6, NetBeans 8.0.1 and WebLogic 12c for this code testing.

I think I have it correct up to the casting but I don't understand what I'm suppose to do with the this.equals(). Also I'm getting an error that I'm not returning a boolean... I get this all the time in other problems. I don't get why since I have to instances of returning booleans in this. "returns true if the given object equals this object" makes no sense to me. I assume the given object, in my case, is 'O'. What is 'this' object referring to?

This taglib will have to be installed on local environment. How is it referred in jsp ? I dont see any code in jsp, which refers to the location of JSTL. So how does jsp invoke these tags ? Is it through classpath ?If its so , how is classpath set for JSTL ? Is it just as classpath is set for java ?

Jun 21, 2006i am doing a code using JSTL to fire a query. everything come fine except the resule is not sorted as desired. i am putting the code below--

now the resule is always sorted by USER_ID. if i want to sort it using USER_NAME i pass parameter from controller to this page in sort_oredr variable which comes fine but the result doesn't sort by name, only by id. if i hardcode USER_NAME in query then the result is as desired.

I map the fields filled in the form with managed bean properties. when I submit the form and click new form , values from the previous form submitted gets displayed in the input fields. I used the scope of the from bean to session. what should be its scope so that values should be destroyed after I submit the form .For every new form ,new bean has to be initialized. On submit I navigate to another bean with session scope.

JSP :: JSTL Import Not Working?
Jan 25, 2014I have the following data in a file called books.xml in my WEB-INF folder:

I'm using the following code in a jsp:
<c:import var="bookInfo" url="/WEB-INF/books.xml" />
I know that it's finding the file because if I delete books.xml from the WEB-INF folder I get a FileNotFound exception.
However, for some reason it doesn't appear to be importing the data into the bookInfo variable.
I noticed this problem because when I try to parse it via:
<x:parse xml="${bookInfo}" var="output"/>
I get org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Premature end of file.
When I try to display the data in the variable either by:
<c:out value="${bookInfo}" />
...or by means of a scriptlet (which I realize is not a best practice):
<%
String myVariable = (String)pageContext.getAttribute("bookInfo");
System.out.print("bookInfo=" + myVariable);
%>
...I get nothing.
BTW when I do:
<c:import var="data" url="http://www.tutorialspoint.com"/>
<c:out value="${data}"/>
that works fine!

Accessing HashMap With JSTL
Aug 18, 2014I have a HashMap returned from the server. There are two conditions
1. HashMap returned with only one set of key value pair or
2. HashMap with multiple set of data key value pairs.
Now in UI I have to display either text box or drop down box depending upon the size of map for that I am using length method
Java Code:

I can display drop box by looping but not sure how I can get only one element for text box. Tricky is I can't use key value to access since UI don't know what key will be returned.

But I want my users to simply view the file without downloading it.

Feb 15, 2013Why will this NOT validate correctly in my IF Statement? Basically, a user chooses an option from the drop down list. The value is passed to t.jsp (itself) and if the option "All" is chosen, then it does something. If any of the years are chosen, then it does something else.

JSF :: Binding Xhtml And Bean Not Working?
Mar 29, 2014I am working on eclipse kepler, JSF 2.2 with PrimeFaces 4.0 / Mojarra 2.2 library.
actually there are 2 Problems:
I still get this server message no matter what I do.
(( javax.el.PropertyNotFoundException: /Order.xhtml @28,76 value="#{kk.refugee.id}": Target Unreachable, 'refugee' returned null))
and if I delete the input text puls the hidden, the message keeps pop up for 'material' selectOneMenu. -
