JSP :: Viewing / Inserting And Updating Records In Same Page

Dec 10, 2014

I need to view, update and insert records through a jsp page.example: Employee details..If we give an admission number of an employee, and if the admission number exists in the database then the details like Name, DOB, DOR, Address, Contact info should be displayed in the appropriate fields.(simply a select query in SQL) . The fields are editable and if we need to make any changes we can update in that details itself. If admission number doesn't exists means we can insert all the details except the admission number and a temporary admission number is generated and displayed. The problem with this is i can't able to revert it to the same page.

Servlets :: Updating Session Value But Same Session In JSP Page Not Updated

Jul 8, 2014

I am developing a e-commerce college project, here i add the items in the cart(a div tag in the jsp page) via servlet by creating sessions,

flow control: shopping jsp (when user wants to add an item in the cart) --> item servlet (which is used to create session and synchronized it) --> cart servlet(which is used to add items in the arraylist and show them in the shopping.jsp's div tag + it also sets the total purchase amount in the session variable "totalpurchase")

now after that user wants to proceed to checkout, here i use the onclick event to check the minimumshopping amount must be less than the totalpurchase (totalpurchase which i had setted in the session),but my jsp page is unable to rechognise the updated value of the totalpurchase, yes, if i reload the page, it rechognises the new updated value of the totalpurchase? but i want it to rechognise the updated total purchase value, without reloading he jsp page..

Viewing Website File Tree

Apr 25, 2014

This is probably more of a web-based question. I have a basic web crawler I wrote with Java (using JSoup) which crawls through our repositories and stuff to locate the paths to certain snapshots and whatnot. It crawls through using the file tree which gets exposed when you try to go to a directory in a URL.

The problem I am having is that some of the directories contain index files, which means the connection to the directory redirects from the file tree to the index file. Any way to prevent that redirection?

Adding Records To A File Then Searching That File For Records

Jan 30, 2015

The assignment is to create a program that accepts entries from a user for 3 variables then saves the data to a file. There are other programs that use the file created. One program displays the non-default records. The next program allows the user to enter the id for the employee and displays the first and last name for that id number. The last program allows the user to enter a first name. It then displays all id numbers and last names for records with that first name.

Given the above situation, I am stuck on creating the first program. I can make the text file and write the information to it. However, when the file is created, a space is placed in between each entry for some reason. I cannot figure out how to get rid of this space so that I can display the appropriate records for the remaining programs. Below is the code and a view of my problem.

import java.nio.ByteBuffer;
import java.nio.channels.FileChannel;
import java.nio.file.*;
import java.io.*;
import static java.nio.file.StandardOpenOption.*;
import java.util.*;
public class WriteEmployeeList {

[Code] .....

The values for nameFormat and lnameFormat are 10 spaces. This is how the book told me to make sure everything is uniform and searchable. The file contents look like this when viewed in notepad.

Inserting / Linking Nodes At The End?

Mar 15, 2015

having trouble trying to understand the insertion and removal of Nodes.

I have to insert a new node at the end of the linked nodes, if i insert by terminal : 1, 2, 3. The printed nodes are going to be in the same order, 1,2, 3.

I have done the exercise, but it only prints the last node created and i dont know where its the problem. We did it before with "insert at the beginning", may be the problem is with the print() method in SimpleList.java, but i dont know how to print "backwards".

This is the code:

Node.java

public class Node {
public int infoNodo;
public Node next;
}

Inserting New Line Into A String

Feb 21, 2014

I need to insert a newline into a string where a letter follows a non-letter.

Example String: A63B432

I want to insert a newline after A63

I only have the string class available to me.

I'm familiar with regular expressions however I don't know how to use the String class to insert a newline.

I'm guessing the regular expression I'm looking for would be similar to:

[.0-9_][a-zA-Z]

(for . OR didgit OR underscore followed by an alpha character)

But how to insert a newline between the two?

Swing/AWT/SWT :: Adding Records Using AbastractTableModel?

I'm starting to use AbstractTableModel to customize a JTable model. The problem appears when you add a record from a ResultSet to JTable object.

Leave some code I have been writing ... the method to insert records in JTable is called "insertEmptyRow" (for now).

I need some opinion that can make changes to the code of this method so you can get to see all the data in a record.

HashTable Insertion - Duplicate Records

Apr 20, 2015

I am having some difficulty adding a new item to the HashTable when a collision occurs. We can only use the basic utilities to code this, so we are coding a HashTable by hand. We have an array of length of 10, which each index holds or will hold a Node for a Linked List.

The code hashes fine, adds the item, but the problem exists when adding items that already been hashed. The project is much bigger, but this is the engine behind the rest, and I figured I would tackle this first.

The items we are adding are objects which are states containing different information, we hash based on the ASCII sum % tableSize.

Here is the code I am testing with to add items:

HashTable ht = new HashTable(10);
State az = new State("Arizona","AZ","W",2,"Y",2);
State fl = new State("Florida", "FL", "F", 2, "X", 2);
State hi = new State("Hawaii", "HI", "H", 3, "Z", 1);
State al = new State("Alabama", "AL", "A", 5, "W", 0);
ht.insert(hi);

Inserting Into A Regular Binary Tree?

I know that for a binary search tree the insert() method is easy. You just kept comparing the values of the nodes, and you would know whether to go left or right depending on the value of the node.However, I am stumped when trying to figure out how to add a node into a normal binary tree where you just keep adding the nodes to the leftmost side, regardless of value.Here is my attempt at the insert() method:

public CompleteTree() {
super();
}

public void insert(Comparable item) {
if(this.isEmpty()) {
this.setRoot(new TreeNode(item));
return;

Multiple Threads Not Inserting Everything Into MySQL

Jun 19, 2014

I am very new to threading. I have a program that calls my api and gets data back in json format. Each request returns a row of data in json format. All together I need to retrieve about 2,000,000 rows a day which means 2,000,000 requests (I understand that this is bad design, but the system was not designed for this purpose it is just what I need to do for the next couple of weeks). When I tried running it on a single thread I was processing about 200 requests a minute which is much too slow. As a result I created 12 threads and I was processing 5500 rows a minutes which was a great improvement.

The problem was only about on average 90% of the rows were inserted into the database as I ran it a few times to make sure. Before each insert printed to a file each URL which was sent and then I checked to see if each insert statement was successful (returned 1 when executed ) and it all seems fine. Every time I run it it inserts about 90% but it does varies and it has never been a consistent number.

Essentially the code starts in main by creating 12 threads. Each thread's creates a run method which calls a new instance of MySQLPopulateHistData and passes a start and end integer which are used in the insert statement for ranges. I have done many system.out.println type testing and can see all the threads do start and all the 12 instances (one instance for each thread) called are executing?

import java.io.IOException;
import java.util.concurrent.ExecutorService;
import java.util.concurrent.Executors;
