We use a Java program to read an XML file and put its content into a database. We also use Date() to get the current date and insert it into a field in database with content from XML file. Everything worked flawlessly until today, the last day of 2013. We are getting 2014 for the year instead of 2013!!! System date shows correct year, so this must not be an issue.
the below program is to read the time intervals (HH:MM) and to compare system time if the system time between your time intervals print correct time and exit else try again to repeat the same thing. By using StringToknizer class. and i have written like this
import java.io.*; import java.util.*; public class Main { static int k1,k2,v1,v2; public static void main(String args[]) throws IOException { DataInputStream o=new DataInputStream(System.in);
[Code] ....
but is showing correct for some inputs and wrong for some inputs ....
This assignment uses the following description to implement a Dialog class for the Leap Year Problem. We need to decompose this problem into 2 classes:
1.The Date.java class: is a public class that represents a date composed of a month , day, and a year. So you need to declare month, day, and year as integers. Date has 1 constructor and 4 methods. Write the constructor for Date which has 3 parameters: int m, int d, int y ; (As an example of a constructor with 2 parameters for example chapter 3 page 152 code listing 3-13 has a perfect example for you to use which is the BankAccount.java.) and the 4 methods:
"dayIs()" which returns a day. It has no parameter. "monthIs()" which returns a month. It has no parameter. "yearIs()" which returns a year. It has not parameter. "isLeapYear()" which returns a boolean value.
"isLeapYear()" has one parameter year and returns a boolean. Write the method isLeapYear() knowing that a year is defined to be a leapyear it is a multiple of 4, and if it is is a multiple of 100, it must also be a multiple of 400. isLeapYear() thus decides when a year is a leap year. (see the discussion on "Hints for Assign5" to discover specific examples of a LeapYear).
The purpose of the Date.java is to decide whether a year is a leap year. Here is a definition of when a year is considered a leap year :
-year y1 is a leap year if it is multiple of 4. -year y1 is a leap year if it is a multiple of 100, it must be a multiple of 400. -Otherwise y1 is not a leap year.
2. The DateJDialog.java class: implements the GUI. Please use the Dialog boxes developed in the book in chapter2 in pages 99-100 in the code-listing 2-32 (NamesDialog.java) for input and output.
Remember that you will prompt the user to enter: -a month; -a day; -a year
And out of these 3 you will be able to create a Date. Then you will use the dialog box to tell the user whether the year entered was a leapyear or not a leapyear.
Remember that we defined in 1- what it means a year is a leap year or not a leap year.
Do not forget to compile the 2 java files. To verify that the DateJDialog.java works, in TextPad after you compile DateJDialog.java, Click on Tools, Click on "Run Java Application".
When you have completed the assignment, please remember to submit Date.java and DateJDialog.java.
I am working on a project where i need to show a year value in a class that extends JSpinner.Its working just fine but when i try to set an alignment value for the editor textfield it all falls apart and i know im missing something really critical here but i can't see or find it all i know is that i can't make a proper reference to the textfield component in the editor i use in the correct way or aproach.
public class JNumberSpinner extends JSpinner { private String actionCommand; private boolean isEnabled; private int startValue; private int columns; private int alignment; private SpinnerNumberModel model; private JSpinner.NumberEditor numEditor; private JFormattedTextField jTxtEditorView;
I'm using apache POI to input data from a excel database. I have a method that is supposed to count the number of rows containing data so I can use that number to initialize an object array. It's returning one more than the actual number of rows and I can't figure out why.
public int getDataRange() throws IOException{ int rowCount = 0; Iterator<Row> rows = sheet.rowIterator(); while(rows.hasNext()){ HSSFRow row = (HSSFRow) rows.next(); rowCount++;
[Code] .....
I get an array index out of bounds exception at the highlighted line.
Why is the equals-method in the super-class invoked? Shouldn't the equals-method in the sub-class be invoked(at least in the first if-statement since b2 is a B(i know B is also an A))?Is the equals-method overridden? Or does B have its own equals-method?
class SomeClass{ public static void main(String[] args) {
As you can see there are two listener in my xhtml file one for filetype and other for signmethod. When filtype changes signmethod has to change which in turn changes servers. And if user changes signmethod using dropdown then also server should change. But my problem is when filetype changes, both the listeners are called, as signmethod also changea but the value in event object (e.getNewValue()) is not the new one but old one. Here is the SelectView Bean.This is the static initialisation part just for checking the output at the end of question.
I am changing servers in changeServerAndSignmethod by selecting first signmethod from signmethod arraylist which is giving correct result. But changeServers is also getting fired taking wrong event object's newValue method and changing servers to wrong values. When changeServers is fired bydirectly changing signmethod, by dropdown, it gives correct result. Is there a way I can stop changeServers to fire when the change came from changing filetypes rather than direct change by user on signmethod selectOneMenu.
I am trying to use method calls with returns but it keeps on showing errors. The errors say class, interface, or enum expected. I realize this error occurs if there is issue with declaring class - but i can't seem to find the error. I will post the code that shows error.
import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import javax.swing.*; import java.text.*; public class FuelCost extends JFrame { // declarations Color black = new Color(0, 0, 0);
I am a novice to coding and very new to Java. It appears that I am having a similar problem as the user above "Scott Allen". With a few exceptions. My issue is that when I run the command "javac" from the command prompt I am receiving the same error:- "javac is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file"
After reading the comments from above I have configured my System Variables "Path" and "JAVA_HOME" to match the following: JAVA_HOME: C:Program FilesJavajdk1.6.0_21in Path: %JAVA_HOME%in; [First Variable]
There is no "Path" User variable on my computer, although there is a "TEMP" and "TMP" in the User Environment variables.
Currently I have the following Java related software installed: - C:Program FilesJavajre6 - C:Program FilesJavajdk1.6.0_21 - C:Program FilesSunJavaDB - C:Program FilesEclipse-jee-galileo-3.5.2
I have confirmed the "javac.exe" is located within the in directory of Javajdk.1.6.0_21..When I send "Java -version" to the command prompt the following is returned: java version "1.6.0_26"..Immediately I noticed that the version is wrong, but don't know why or what to do. Below is the output from the command "Java" using the command prompt.
Usage: java [-options] class [args...] (to execute a class) or java [-options] -jar jarfile [args...] (to execute a jar file)
where options include:
-client to select the "client" VM -server to select the "server" VM -hotspot is a synonym for the "client" VM [deprecated] The default VM is client.
So all the errors in the code is fixed but its now got the wrong output
what I get:
Enter numerator; then denominator. 5 8 5/8 Enter numerator; then denominator. 4 10 4/10 Sum:0/0
it should be:
Enter numerator; then denominator. 5 8 5/8 Enter numerator; then denominator. 4 10 4/10 Sum: 82/80 1.025 Product: 20/80 0.25 Enter numerator; then denominator. 6 0 infinity
here is the code
Fraction.java public class Fraction { //declares that it's a class that can be intantiated private int numer; // private intager for numerator private int denom; // private intager for denominator
I am developing a JavaFX application under Java 8 on my Ubuntu 14.04 (32 bit) system. When I run it on the Ubuntu box, all is fine, but when I run it under Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) with the same Java8 release installed, all my buttons have their text ellipsised (sp?). Why the behavior is different? Or is this a bug in JavaFX? Here are the particulars:
I am trying to implement this method in another class but I'm not sure how to do so. My attempt is:
public getCalls(){ return getCalls(); }
When I run the program it sends the following exception:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.StackOverflowError at FibonacciForget.getCalls(FibonacciForget.java:14) and it highlights the [return getCalls();] part.
What is the correct way to implement the getCalls() method?
class SubB{ public void foo(){ System.out.println(" x"); } } public class X extends SubB { public void foo() throws RuntimeException{ super.foo(); if(true) throw new RuntimeException(); System.out.println(" B"); } public static void main(String [] args){ new X().foo(); } }
Why the foo method of class X is not throwing a compile error because according to the override rule, if the superclass method has not declared exception, the subclass method can't declare a new exception...
I have an requirement of splitting a Date-Time String i.e. 2013/07/26 07:05:36 As you observe the above string has Date and Time with space in between them.
Now I want just want split the string not by delimiter but by length i.e. after 10th place and then assign it to 2 variable i.e. Date <----2013/07/26 and Time <---07:05:36 separately.
1. Write an algorithm that asks the user for your birth date and the current date and displays how many days has passed since then (remember that April, June, September and November has 30 days, February has 29 on leap years, and the rest 31)
2. Write an algorithm that asks the user a number (save it as N) and displays the N term of the Fibonnacci series (take it as 1, 1, 2, 3, 5 ...)
Given a Date such as this sampleDate (120, 08, 02), does SimpleDateFormat transform this given sampleDate using (sampleDate.get(Calendar.DATE)) ?
Issue is that without the SimpleDateFormat the days are outputting correctly but starting with 1,2,3,4 etc and when I apply the SimpleDateFormat to the above Date I only get 01,01,01 etc...

Detect a bug in Java, specifically in the Calendar class will getDisplayName method. I put in the message code showing the error. If the code is executed you can see that the month March be repeated 2 times jumping the month of February.
Code Example:
import java.util.Calendar; import java.util.Locale; public class BugInCalendarDisplayName { public static void main(String[] args) { Calendar aMonth = Calendar.getInstance(); aMonth.set(Calendar.MONTH, 0);
[Code] ....
Obtained results of the code execution:
ENERO MARZO MARZO ABRIL MAYO JUNIO JULIO AGOSTO SEPTIEMBRE OCTUBRE NOVIEMBRE DICIEMBRE
