"Create a project called RainFall and a class nameD RainFall. Write a program that stores the total rainfall for each of 12 months into an array of doubles. The program should display total rainfall for the year, the average monthly rainfall, the month with the most rain and the month with the least rain. When outputting the month with the most and least rain, output the name of the month. This is what I have so far.
I am downloading around 50 PDF files programmatically using Java program(like a servlet service) one after another in for loop. I am observing that , i'm getting timeout error after few files are downloaded itself. How to solve this problem and download more files programmatically using java? The files are in my server at different location.
I am trying to compile multiple jar files into one jar file from inside a java program. I know how to do this with shell scripts but I would rather have a universal application than one that will only run on Mac, Windows, or Linux. This is my current compiler code:
if(System.getProperty() == "Mac OS X"){ Runtime.getRuntime().exec("javac -classpath jar1.jar; jar2.jar"); }
I would then continue this on for Linux and Windows, but this limits my application.
I'm allowing the user to choose certain items to buy that is moved to an array.Now I'm trying to add those thing in the array use a different class. how I can call the array from my driver class to my checkout class that adds them together.
I have made a basic math game that asks you questions and tells you if you have answered them correctly or incorrectly. The game runs great! The thing is that it asks you a question one time and after you answer you have to run the program again. I want to get the program to ask ten questions. After that I want to figure out a scoring system for it but the first step is to get it to ask my ten questions. Here is my code.
package pkgnew; import java.util.Scanner; import java.util.Random; public class New { public static void main(String args[]) {
I had to use scanner to receive input from the user for a formula and everything compiled and worked correctly except when I entered a double into the Scanner, it only accepts ints and gives me this error every time I enter a double:
java.util.InputMismatchException at java.util.Scanner.throwFor(Unknown Source) at java.util.Scanner.next(Unknown Source) at java.util.Scanner.nextDouble(Unknown Source) at TestA1Q2.main(TestA1Q2.java:36) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source) at edu.rice.cs.drjava.model.compiler.JavacCompiler.runCommand(JavacCompiler.java:272)
I know that you usually get that error when the Scanner expects something else that is different from what you type and I have looked over my code time and time again and cannot find anything. I created a test program to see if it was just that problem and not something else in the code and I still got the same error but when I tried compiling and running it here browxy.com everything worked and I got the right answer for the formula. Here's the test I used:
import java.util.Scanner; public class TestA1Q2 { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner keyboard = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println("Enter a double"); double velocity = keyboard.nextDouble(); } }
At this point I'm thinking it might be a problem with my install of DrJava and I've tried re-installing but nothing changed.
while(fileScan.hasNextLine()) { String currentLine = fileScan.nextLine(); String[]dataSet = currentLine.split(" "); String zip = dataSet[7]; String phone = dataSet[8]; String donation = dataSet[9]; int ZIP = Integer.parseInt(zip); Double Donation = Double.parseDouble(donation);
As you can see I made the donation read as a double, my question is how do I get the donation total? I need to write the code to add up and get the total donations but cannot figure it out.
Just done a quick test to try and figure out the difference between floats and doubles.I made a quick program which outputs the result of 3.3 * 2 as both a float and a double.
I assumed since a float is the larger and more precise of the two data types that there would be more numbers after the decimal point, however this was not the case, it was in fact the double which had more numbers after the decimal point. Result was as follows:
Float: 29.699999 Double: 29.7
BTW for the above code I simply had a few text fields and a button with the following code:
Also, as these are limited to a certain amount of numbers im thinking there must be a more precise way for currency, if so what would I use for that? I suppose what im trying to figure out is what data type to use in different scenarios? When to use integer, float, double and long.
I am developing a java swing application. In which i want to set a different text to a label in same program ( in single JFrame). I dont want to use another JFrame instead i want to use setText method of java and set different text to a label at different intervals of time according to my need.
I am using java 1.7 sdk and pupy linux as OS. Below i am giving source code.
What i am doing is in constructor of class i am setting an image to JFrame and setting text "Welcom...". And when user clicks on this JFrame a method is called which will clear the text "Welcome.." and sets new text to another label "Enter...." and from there another method is called and it clears label "Enter..." and sets a text "Plzz wait..". and yet there are more methods, i havnt provided here.
But what is happening is it shows welcome text and then directly Plzz wait..
Its not showing text Enter... because control is finished after last method gets executed.
My concern is i want to show all the setText (my messages) in a sequence. Without using another JFrame. There is no any user input other than user will click on first welcome page.
public class BackgroundFrame extends javax.swing.JFrame {
Write a Java method that returns the largest value of an array of doubles passed to the method as an argument.
Back into java wasn't sure how to do it for doubles did one in the main for integers and then added a method changed from int to double and now i'm lost as go why its not working.
package kickstarter9; public class Kickstarter9 { public static void main(String[] args){ double myList; double[] myList = {6.0, 4.1, 2.4, 6.8, 1.9, 9.4, 2.8, 4.6, 9.3}; // find the largest value in the list
This code will let a user type 10 double's, and return the smallest of those 10 double's. But I don't really understand what happens in de last for-loop.
package hsleiden.webcat.exercise06_09; import java.util.Scanner; public class Exercise06_09 { public static void main (String[] args){ double[] allNumbers = new double [10];
What I'm supposed to be doing is making it so the program can accept multiple filter and sort commands at one time, and each should be separated by a whitespace.I was thinking about parsing the input again, using whitespace as the delimiter, then normally progressing with each token, as though there was only one command.
However, coding this the way I'm doing it will firstly probably take hours, and secondly, it's likely not even right. I don't have any real way to determine which token contains which data from the Song objects.These are the specific requirements for this portion:A sort/filter command consists of one or more of the following options:
-year:<year(s)>
-rank:<rank(s)>
-artist:<artist>
-title:<title>
-sortBy:<field>
Any number of these options may be given, and they may be given in any order. If multiple options are specified, they will be separated by whitespace.
GazillionSongs Class (the main) Java Code: import java.util.*; import java.io.*;
I've been noticing some of my programs have been a little buggy recently, and think it's down to confusion over doubles and positioning. Lets say I have a label called banner that I want to scroll across the screen. Now I need to know the label's width in order to position it, but the width depends on the amount of text, so i use this code:
double bannerWidth = banner.getWidth();
Which forces me into using a double if I want to be accurate.
But the problem is that I'm trying to use a condition that compares the label's horizontal position (currentX) to the left edge of the screen (LEFT_EDGE), minus the width of the label (bannerWidth). In other words when the label is off the screen, it should go back to its starting position.
I assume that means that any variables I use to track the label's position (in this case currentX), or constants that I use to check equality (LEFT_EDGE), have to be doubles as well?
My difficulty is that I iterate currentX. But currentX--; won't work because doubles don't iterate as I'd expect.
So casting becomes an option..... but if I cast to an integer I effectively lose width on the label. And that is magnified each loop, resulting in the label's starting position moving further and further to the left.
I'm attempting to format my doubles to two decimal places within my return statement. I have tried to use DecimalFormat but it gives me an error because my method needs to return a double and that results in a string being returned. I have also tried using the *100.00/100.00 method and that doesn't work when the number already ends in 0.
If I pass -150.00 it gives me -150.0 when I need two decimal places.
I have i am trying to implement tooltip through javascript, like when we click on an image link tooltip should be displayed and it should have close button/ close image to close that tooltip.like the same way i will have multiple images on page, when ever i click on the images all tooltips should be displayed on the page when ever i want to close that then only it should close through close button on tooltip.can we do it through java script or will go for jquery.
I'm very new to Java, and I am creating a program that takes multiple user input to create one face. I have a class for the eyes, nose, lips, and headshape. For some reason, my program is not drawing the graphics. ***for question purposes, I have only included my head shape class and my test class****
my "test" class:
import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JOptionPane; import javax.swing.JPanel; public class FaceTest { public static void main(String[] args) { String head = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Would you like a circle, square, rectangle shaped head?: ");
My application needs to accept multiple input at different time and i need to serialize it whenever it gets the new input and after that i need to Deserialize the object one by one.how it can be implemented. Eachtime i am able to deserialize only one object that came at last. How to implement this functionality..
This is the code for serializing.
import java.io.FileOutputStream; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.ObjectOutputStream; import java.io.Serializable; import java.util.Scanner; public class Dummyserial implements Serializable {
I just started playing around with Java for awhile, but got caught up in a problem when using ArrayList.
CinemaAppMain public class CinemaAppMain { public static void main(String[] args) { new CinemaApp().start();
[Code]....
I am trying to get the movie name and theatre title from their ArrayList, and I know I need to go through the movie list & theatre list to find their name & title, and compare it with the user input and print out the result.
I use for(int i=0;i<movies.size();i++) to go through the the movie list, and I tried using for(int i=0;i<theatres.size();i++) to go through the theatre list. But when I printing multiple time with different user input value, it will show me strange result (screening have same movie name & theatre name, the else if statement is printed below the user input, user input is printed more than once after the first time).
Edit: I know its wrong for me to use nested for loop,if not, another solution is needed to get the item inside both of the list. (getting the "title" from movie list & "name" from theatre list)
