I developed an application that is accessing some property files. The condition was that the user should be able to modify the content or parameters of those property file.How can I distribute the application using Java web start that also includes those property file in the client side?
View RepliesI am trying to deploy an android application that connects to a java server. I am doing an apointments system, so the client asks for an apointments with a specific office/doctor. What i did, was to create a java server, using object for the offices, and via sockets it communicates with the android client.
The problem is that when i tried to use my (very demo still) app on my phone and sent it to some friends for testing, i coulnt find a way to have my server on the internet.
So I changed to (or trying to) servlet. But, how to do a client server application with servlets. All tutorials i have seen are more on website clients, but thats not what i need.

I have created jar file for my project after that created exe file using Launch4j and Advanced installer, exe file produced by both software are working fine but those are placing the jar file inside that exe file, My problem is any one who has that exe file can extract and view the source code by decompiling java class file. Is there any way to deploy java application without decompiling the code.

Would I be able to transfer the jar file within a folder(s) or would I have to change the program so that It creates a new folder to save texts In automatically ? You basically paste a url Into a textarea and choose an Image for the link.The Image link Is then appended to a html file.
I'd like to put everything In a single jar file but I'm not sure what to do so the user can access the html file.
The only two options I can think of are:
a) create the html document on the fly when the jar runs.
b) Is to run a bat command when the jar Is executed that will extract the jar files.
The user can either choose from a number of Images In the logos folder for common websites or add new Images. Since the folder isn't empty , It seems like extracting the jar files Is necessary.
I have a large scale enterprise application (5 modules) project using RAD, WAS v7, Java EE 6 (EJB 3.1, JPA), ZK framework.
The project is using RAD as IDE. The problem is that it takes too long to deploy (more than 5 min) when changes are made to the EJB's (although the changes are minor in only one file) but when changes are made to zk framework (the web & presentation layer), it is fast to deploy.
Don't know what cause the problem. Is it because of EJB 3.1/ JPA or RAD/ WAS?
Is it happening in other IDE or applcation server also?
I would like to know how we can deploy one Web application on multiple server to share the work between them? My first thought is that we just deploy the same war file on different servers that connect to the same database. However, what will happen when a user enter something like [URL]? How can multiple servers share the same domain name and how the requests from different users are redirected to these different server?

Problem is my application uses functions from 3 .Jar files.
Here is how my folder(Assume it is called MyApplication) currently looks:

I understand I need add some information to the Manifest.txt file but I am struggling in adding stuff to it in the correct format.
Assuming the above folder is called my MyApplication, what I need to put in the Manifest and how to build it all as a Jar File.
I am using itext to create pdf files , i have filtered some records (preferably i can say around 90) which has the option to open pdf for individual record. Now I need to open all the pdf's of filtered records on a single click , without asking for a open dialogue box. How to go about this ??

I already used properties file without problems for localizing information. In that case the property file was stored as a resource in a package; and I used the Class ResourceBundle to manage the operations and the ClassLoader to access to the file.
Actually I need to use property files “To save the configuration of the application”.In this case I need also to update information stored inside the file.property, and I used the same procedure as before to manage it (ClassLoader to get data- also for writing).
I had problems in this case: that the data was never modified inside the properties file. I investigate, and now I think that the problem comes from writing in the property file that is located in the .jar file. For what I know, it is impossible to change resources putted in the .jar files.
I found a solution: to store the properties files out the jar files; and in this way all is good. But it would be more comfortable to store inside.
My question is : if a file property used to “save the configuration of the application “ have to be put out of jar, or is there another way ??

View Replies View RelatedBatch file (. BAT) problems with some folders on. I created an application in Java and put the JRE folder within the application, because some users do not have Java installed on your machine and the way I did, my application runs. JAR with the JRE that is contained in my application but I created a BAT file that contains the following command:
start "" jre8 bin javaw-jar app.jar
So I run my program in java through the file. BAT calling JRE that is inside the folder and then this JRE runs the mine. JAR and works great anywhere in windows, worked well on a USB key with this command is within. BAT (start "" jre8 bin javaw-jar app.jar).
BAT in certain folders, eg Program Files and Program Files (x86), I need this code to be able to find any directory, regardless of whether the directory has spaces in the name, symbols, numbers or anything else, because maybe people will put the application folder to another location or rename the folder, and if this happens the program will stop working? And especially do not give problems to run inside the Program Files and Program Files (x86) because the application runs everywhere except in these two folders.

I am using an arrayList of 10,000 customers and adding any customer that lives in a city or state that contains the keyword to a new arrayList and then returning that arrayList. I thought my solution was correct, but when using the JUnitTest provided, it is not quite passing the test. My solution is as follows.

I set the argument value in server console----server----star tup----argument(-Darg=dev).
Other than this any configurations are required. I used weblogic 10.3.5.
I was developed a simple GUI, in that it requires modification of jtextfield content while JComboBox item selected and vice-versa. I was used itemListener on JComboBox and Document Listener on JTextField. It was gives exception while running the code. Because one listener source effected by another one..
