Java Window Settings - Open With Certain Width And Height
May 19, 2014
Any way to get my Java window to open with a certain width and height. I've been googling and haven't found to much valuable information. Here is what I have so far.
import javax.swing.*;
import javax.swing.event.*;
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
public class JavaWindow{
//Bring up the frame.
private JFrame f = new JFrame("JavaWindow");
[Code] ....
When you compile that it runs a small window. I would like that window to be bigger when the file opens.
I was suppose to create a simple Java program for calculating the area of a rectangle (height * width). Then check the user’s input, and make sure that they enter in a positive integer, and letting them try again if they enter in a negative number. (I'm not sure how to get them to try again.
I am suppose to use an "if" statements and indeterminate loops to achieve the solution. The program will have the following requirements:
1. Ask the user to enter in both a height and width (as an integer) 2. If the user enters in a negative number, display an error 3. If the user enters in a negative number, give them another chance to enter in the correct value 4. Calculate the area and display to the screen once two positive integers have been entered.
import java.util.Scanner; public class RectangleAreaCalc { public static void main(String[] args) { int length; int width; int area;
But when i try to open it i get the message: Application Blocked. Click for details.
- The list i see doesn't work - If i click Ignore nothing happens - If i click reload nothing happens
When i read and search the net i have to change my java security settings. The security setting are HIGH and i cannot change that.But i can fill in an Exception Site List...The hello.html file is on my NAS : file:///X:/Lantronix/hello.html..I fill this in the exception Site list -> I get a message that it is a security risk to add this location.
I am trying to create a program that will estimate a child height based on the height of the parents. It should ask the user to enter a String representing the gender, so m or M for a male and f or F for a female. The program must handle both upper or lower case gender entries. I need it to ask the user for the height of both parents in two parts:
1. for Feet and store in an int variable. 2. for inches and store and int variable.
So for example if the father is 6' 2'', the user would enter 6 when asked for feet and 2 when asked for inches. Convert the height of the each parent to inches. hint 12" in one foot.
Apply the following formulas based on gender (must use an if statement(s)):
I have a major problem. the text size is like 6 or 8 pt font and I can't read it. I'm trying to run a downloaded exe program which uses the jre7 which I had to download beforehand. the font size stays at 6 or 8 even if I try to change it in windows settings. it's a high res monitor on a lenovo yoga laptop. is there a way for me to edit the java code and manually change the font size?

I am developing a JavaFX application under Java 8 on my Ubuntu 14.04 (32 bit) system. When I run it on the Ubuntu box, all is fine, but when I run it under Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) with the same Java8 release installed, all my buttons have their text ellipsised (sp?). Why the behavior is different? Or is this a bug in JavaFX? Here are the particulars:
I have been recently been working on a library to handle loading and saving settings in a Java application using annotations. Here is how the library is used currently:
package main; import dhuk.settings.main.SettingsManager; import dhuk.settings.main.SettingsTarget; public class Main{ public final String keybinds = "keybinds.txt", settings = "settings.txt"; // Constant strings to be used as the file's paths SettingsManager sm = SettingsManager.instance; // Singleton used to manage all of the settings files.

I want to design an open-answer quiz game using Java. Basically, the plan is to design a quiz where the name of a medicine is displayed as "the question" and the player will need to input the unique code (as "the answer") of the medicine in an open box (all the codes are two characters). The list has about 204 named medicine (with potentially more to be included at a later stage). The questions will not appear in the same order for each session restarted; they will appear randomly.
The player will have 60 seconds, and for each correct answer, will score 1 point and add 2 seconds to the timer. The player will also have 6 "lives", and for each incorrect answer, the player will lose a life, with no effect on the time.
The idea of the game is that the player memorise as many of these medicine codes as possible.
Working on an assignment for a class: Create a DESKTOP application that allows you to open an image file and enables you to zoom in on or out from an image. I believe all I need is too create an open button to open the actual image file, instead of the html link, this code is an example that the teacher provided.My current code:

I am struggling getting my java app to open a console window on either MacOS or windows and run a command. On windows I can get the cmd.exe program to open, but it won't execute the command. On MacOS, I cannot get it to even open the terminal.
String run = "c: s34bil.exe elap5.exe" + in + rst + out; //in, rst, out are parameters for the relpa5.exe file. try { Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime(); rt.exec(new String[]{"cmd.exe","/c",run,"start"}); } catch (IOException ex) { Logger.getLogger(issrsUI.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); }

I'm trying to get my components to align in the proper position but I'm having no luck what so ever. I have my code and I've attached an image of my window builder.
I am having the hardest time trying to figure out how to display an array in a 1-window GUI.
I can display 1 book separately, by basically ignoring the array and creating a new object for each book, but I need all 5 books to display in one window, and that's where I'm lost. I'd really like to use the arrayI built to generate the books in the GUI. The information of each book appearing horizontally, and the different books appearing vertically.
// Bookstore.java // This program displays information on multiple books
So, Iv'e been trying to make a simple Text Based RPG with Java, and it is going quite well, and my friends want to play it too but they aren't very tech savvy, so it's hard to tell them to get an IDE or use the CMD, so I wanted to know if there was a way to make my text-based game into a window, like using JFrame or something. All i need is a window that displays the text, and a bar on the bottom that lets the user input what they want (Kind of like a CMD).
