Servlets :: File Is Located In Root Directory Of Project But System Cannot Find File Specified
Jan 10, 2015I need to make some operations with a file. I struggle to understand why Apache is throwing this error:
(The system cannot find the file specified)
My file is located in the root directory of the project.
And here is how I indicate the path to it:
String filePath = "default.jpg";
InputStream inputStream = new FileInputStream(new File(filePath));
If I put the file in the Eclipse folder, it works... But I need it to work if I put it in my project's root folder.

I would like to create an exe file from this application. Therefore, I need the jar file.
I can't find such a file with that extension in the folder where I saved the java project.
How can I manage this file?

Nov 19, 2014I have a gameengine stil partially in the works for pc made in java, I am attempting a port over to java but certain classes and other fuctions are not available for android that there is in java. this means that my render engine, gameengine and a couple of other clases therefore don't work.
My question is, is there anyway of using the gameengine classes that work into the project so that all i have to do is declare within the engine what i want to export for wheather this is android or java. or importing packages from the game engine project and directly linking with the ability of re-writing the odd few classes that do not work.

Extracting Eclipse Project As Runnable Java Not Working
Feb 5, 2014I've been working quite a bit with a login system the past couple of months and I now have a version that I would like to try "for real" by extracting it as a runnable .jar or .exe file. I've looked at a couple of guides that told me how to do this properly, but even after following every step precisely it didn't work.

Double clicking the file or selecting it and pressing enter does nothing, the computer loads for a second and then nothing happens. I don't receive any visible errors when extracting the program, either.
However, when running the file from the command prompt I do receive an odd error:

Java Project - UPC Calculator / Calling ToString Method?
Feb 20, 2014Our goal is to write a pretty simple program, one that takes the 12 digit UPC code entered by a user and to not only spit it back out in a format with dashes using toString, and also returns the first digit, a 2 more groups of digits numbering 2-6 and 7-11, and finally display the 12th digit. It then performs an equation to check the last digit and make sure the UPC code is correct.
However, being so new to java (I only learned visual basic before), with this I was introduced to two new concepts that for some reason I simply cannot grasp for the life of me: Using and calling the toString method, and calling on methods that are created in a completely different class file.
The first section of code is my UPC class, which is meant to contain all my methods as well as the toString to be called on:

Java Swing Project - Updating Labels And Other Stuff
May 28, 2014I wrote a simple random spelling game for a class project, was never able to get the labels to update when they should. I have tried .updateUI, .paintImmediately followed by .revalidate and by .repaint. Nothing seems to be working.
What the game does is show a random word for about 10 seconds, disappear and they user is to spell that word, you have 3 tries then will start over. The "brains" of the game work just fine, it is the labels updating with new text when they should doesn't seem to be working. There is 4 classes but the below is the "Main" that has the problems. Also have a null exception problem with the timer.stop(); not sure why. I am still pretty new to java.

Jan 6, 2015I'm making a stock system for the heck of it,so everything was going great until I hit the loop I am trying to use a for loop to add stock to the stock system,any way the question is maily about loops.How come I cannot declare a variable outside a loop and assign a value to it,for example I can declare as follows and I will not get an error,

Java Dicing System With Currency
Jul 31, 2014I have been working on making a Java application for the Game RuneScape. My goal is to make an Application to where you register on the application and it saves the information in a file. I am also looking to make it so you can transfer money from Runescape to your Account on my Application by submitting a ticket. When you submit a ticket you get assisted by one of the moderators, they trade you in the game and take the money, and then they take that money out of their current account. Admins are allowed to give moderators money via their account or another method. My issue is creating the ticket system. I want to be able to do this all via the application. So basically what i have currently for the application is a chat room, with different rooms available to go into by the users. So I need to make the tickets show up only to Moderators and Admins in the general chat room.
