Java Server Disconnects Inactive Users After 5 Minutes

May 19, 2014

I'm using this methodology for Java connection between client and server, the server allows the user to stay connected while it is sending messages, but if you stay an average time of 5 minutes without send anything it is disconnected, I need to increase that time to about 30 minutes or disable this disconnection for inactivity.

Application Disconnects From Session In Production Server

Jun 20, 2014

I have an application developed in Jsf, hibernate eh-cache. i deployed it on jboss server and users are directly accessing jboss url on port 8080 in internal network. Now problem is, number of users for this application has been increased. This application have one page containing 20 records which gets fetched from cache on jsf page. I have used a4j:poller tag which refreshes this page via ajax call and updates it. Earlier this was working fine but nowadays number of users have been increased. Issue is i get nullpointer exception after some time once i logged in to application and user gets redirected to login page. If user re-logins he gets directed to same page number before logout. There is no reason of throwing null pointer exception and this application works fine in qualification environment. We checked everything,

1) session is still there on server. thing is user gets disconnected from it.
2) Network bandwidth seems to be okay.
3) we have used hibernate eh cache and serialized java classes.

how to troubleshoot and find root cause for this. Some people say that it is due to ajax calls from multiple users and ajax response it getting lost in between.

Active / Inactive Savings Account

May 11, 2014

This program asks the user for their starting balance, number of deposits, and number of withdrawals for a month

Now, if the number of withdrawals goes over 4, it has to include a service charge of 1.00 for every withdrawal that was more than 4 (This works fine so far)

The problem I am having is this:

The subclass part of this program is supposed to determine whether an account is below 25. If it is, it should make the account inactive, until the account is 25 or more. The subclass will have a method that will override the super's setWithdrawal mehtod to make sure that no withdrawals will be made until that balance is 25 or more.

Then the setDeposit method in the subclass will also override the super's setDeposit method and make sure that the account is not inactive before any deposits are made. If the account was determined to be inactive at that time and the deposits that were added make it jump to 25 or more, than the account should be changed to active and then be allowed to call the super's method to set the deposit.

So...the issue I am having is the subclass trying to determine whether the balance is under 25 before it calls the super's version of that method where it will allow the user to take money out and when making deposits where it will determine if the account was inactive first before make it active while the deposits raise to 25 or above.

Here is my super class:

// This is an abstract class that will be used for its child class BankAccount
public abstract class BankAccount {
private double balance; // To hold the account balance for the month
private int numDeposit; // To hold the number of deposits for the month
protected int numWithdrawal; // To hold the number of withdrawals for the month
private double annualIR; // To hold the annual interest rate for the month
protected double monthlyServCharge; // To hold any service charge for the month
private double monthlyInterest;

Java Servlet :: Implement Session Timeout For Users

Dec 7, 2012

Coding a web application using Java 6. Try to implement the session timeout for users.

In the web.xml, I added:

<session-config>
<session-timeout>480</session-timeout> <!-- jsp will expire in 8 hours -->
</session-config>

Now, during the runtime, if a user does not touch the jsp page for 8 hours (after the user has signed in), the session timeout mechanism will kick in. At that point, the server side will automatically execute:

rd = req.getRequestDispatcher("/signin.jsp");

So that the user will have to re-sign in, before continue the work.

How can I achieve this goal?

JDBC :: Connection Pool Keeping More Than Necessary Inactive Connections

Jun 19, 2015

Oracle Database 12c Enterprise Edition Release 12.1.0.2.0 - 64bit Production0PL/SQL Release 12.1.0.2.0 - Production0CORE12.1.0.2.0Production0TNS for Linux: Version 12.1.0.2.0 - Production0NLSRTL Version 12.1.0.2.0 - Production0

Using JavaSE-1.7
Using ucp.jar,ons.jar and OJDBC7.jar

I set up the datasource as follows :

pds = PoolDataSourceFactory.getPoolDataSource();
  pds.setConnectionFactoryClassName(factoryClassName);
  pds.setMaxPoolSize(maxPoolSize);                                                       maxPoolSize  10
  pds.setMinPoolSize(minPoolLimit);                                                        minPoolLimit 1

[Code] ....

In the class that actually uses it I create a method variable for the connection object.

Closing the connection as well as pds.getConnection().close();e

I am thinking that at the most I should have only one inactive connection showing up when I monitor the session. How do I configure the pool as to only show on inactive connection? I am running the test queries once every five minutes. But I am opening three connections each time.

Time Comparison - Converting To Seconds / Minutes And Hours

Apr 27, 2013

I want to compare two times. What I am doing is

java.util.Date date = new java.util.Date();
java.sql.Time cur_time = new java.sql.Time(date.getTime());

/*this is my database connectivity code from where I am getting second date that I am comparing. This is right. Don't bother it.

Connection c= ConnectionManager.getConnection();
String sql = "select t from datesheet where subjectCode=? and sessional=? and d=?";
PreparedStatement ps = c.prepareStatement(sql);
ps.setString(1,subjectCode);
ps.setString(2,sessional);
ps.setDate(3,cur_date);
ResultSet rs = ps.executeQuery();*/
if(rs.next())
{
java.sql.Time t = rs.getTime("t");
long diff = cur_time.getTime()-t.getTime();
}

Then I am converting it to seconds, minutes and hours, but the problem is time that we get from cur_time.getTime() has more digits than time that we get from t.getTime(), so it is always greater than t.getTime() even when it is not.

long seconds = (diff/1000)%60;
long minutes = (diff/60000)%60;
long hours = (diff/(60*60*1000))%24;

JSF :: XHTML On One Server Can Talk To Managed-bean On Other Server (different Machine)?

Jul 27, 2014

I am developing a web application using JSF-2.0 on weblogic 10.3.6. I am using Facelets as VDL. I have 5 different machine. They are different according to their OS and their geographical location. On my first xhtml page server (machine) is decided. Then on next page file upload and rest of processing takes place. My restriction is that SSO configuration can be done on only one machine.

So I am restricted to using xhtml files from only my primary server where SSO configuration is done. But I have to connect to servlets or managed-bean of different machine as requests are machine specific and file needs to be uploaded to those machines for processing. So I cannot use redirectUrl as I need to be only on one machine. Is it possible that xhtml on one server can talk to managed-bean on other server(different machine)?.

UDP Server Programming In Java

Apr 15, 2015

The goal is as follows: Write a UDP 'CompressionServer' that will take input from the user until it sees a "magic string" at which time it will create a compressed and uncompressed version of the file in the file system.

So, I need to integrate the following "Zip" code in to my UDP server code (which already creates the uncompressed file)... That is where I am stuck at now. My first few attempts had the Zip code after I write to "fout" but that failed to create a ZIP file.

I guess the main point here is what are the key pieces of the ZIP code that I should include and what would be the best spot to place them in my server code...

Zip Code:

import java.io.*;
import java.util.zip.*;

public class Zip {
static final int BUFFER = 2048;
public static void main (String argv[]) {
try {
String fileInput = argv[0];
String fileOutput = argv[1];

Communicating Between Client And Server Sockets In Java

Apr 3, 2014

I'm working on an assignment right now which involves passing a variable series of numbers to the Server to be sorted into the correct order and returned to the client.

So far I have it connecting to the server and asking for my numbers, and I am entering each number and pressing return, and it is accepting each number individually.

One (smaller I think) problem i'm having is with the client code, specifically the while loop.. I've tried to code it so that when I enter a full stop ('.') the program will stop asking me for more numbers and move on to sending them to the server.. but instead it just crashes giving an error.. heres an example

"Enter a number: 1
Enter a number: 3
Enter a number: 2
Enter a number: 1.
java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "1."
at java.lang.NumberFormatException.forInputString(Num berFormatException.java:65)

[Code] ....

Here's the client code in full

package numberSortprogram;
import java.io.*;
import java.net.ServerSocket;
public class NumSortClient {
public static void main(String[] args) {
InputStreamReader is = new InputStreamReader(System.in);
[Code] ....

The big problem that I have is figuring out how to send the sorted array back to the client..

So, what im trying to get to happen is-

-Client is asked to enter numbers
-Client enters series of numbers into an array
-Array is converted to a string and sent to the server
-String is then split into an array of strings and sorted using compareTo (don't know if this is the best way?)
-Sorted array is sent back to client and displayed.

fyi this is making use of streamsockets..

All of the rest of my code is below:

package numberSortprogram;
import java.io.IOException;
import java.net.*;
import java.util.regex.PatternSyntaxException;
public class NumSortServer {
public static void main(String[] args) {
int serverPort = 4444; // default port
if (args.length == 1 )

[Code] .....
