JavaFX 2.0 :: How To Reload Screen When Changing Languages

Mar 19, 2015

I'm beginner with javaFX and i need to change language of the screen. but how to reload the screen when the language was changed. The application have a button where have the language available. I want just refresh screen when the user change language. Here is the start method to show the stage.

    @Override
    public void start(Stage stage) throws Exception
    {
        this.stage = stage;
        Locale locale = Locale.getDefault();
        ResourceBundle rb = ResourceBundle.getBundle("resources/Label",locale);

[Code] .....

Here is the function to change the language(in the same class with start function),the rb is the new ResourceBundle:

    public void refresh(ResourceBundle rb)
    {
          //change the language here
     }

1. I don't want to use the resourceBundle to get value in resource file and set label in scene one by one.like following:

this.btnLabel.setText(rb.getString(key.test));
...

2. I don't want to reload the scene,like following:

    public void refresh(ResourceBundle rb)
    {
         try
        {
            loader = new FXMLLoader(getClass().getResource("FXMLDocument.fxml"),rb);
            root = (Parent)loader.load();

[Code] .....

So do we have a solution to just set the resourceBundle and reload the scene easier?

JavaFX 2.0 :: Dynamically Change CSS Class And Splash Screen Implementation

Jan 12, 2015

So it seems to reason that many JavaFX applications will want to dynamically change CSS styles.  Is the best way to do this via the <node>.getStyleClass().add("classname")?  The underlying data structure is an observable list.  So lets say one has 5 styles that simply change the fill color of a circle to 5 different colors respectively.  So if I have a condition in which I want to dynamically apply 1 of these 5 styles, the way I currently do this is by defining all 5 styles as strings in a list using a static initializer, then I call <node>.getStyleClass().removeAll(list), then getStyleClass().add("classname").  I do this to avoid adding the same style over and over and inflating the underlying list.  Is this the correct way to manage dynamic CSS styles?

So I know there is a few different way to implement a splash screen.  My app has definitely gotten larger over the last few months of development and I have noticed there is about a 5 second delay between when I run the application to when I see the main stage.  I was thinking a splash screen would be nice to fill this time period.  I have not had time to prototype using a Preloader and I fear that using an alternate, lightweight stage on startup would still take too long of a delay.  I was actually thinking that using the nice and simple JVM argument "-splash:<image name>" would be simple, easy and effective.  Unfortunately when I try to do this, the splash screen comes up but never goes away.

Cardlayout Format - Change Main Menu Screen Into Game Screen On Button Click

Mar 16, 2015

I'm making a game of checkers for my A2 Computing coursework which is due in within a week. I have completely finished the game, and only thing I have left to do is connect the two JPanels together via a CardLayout that I have made. However I am unsure how to do so

Here is the code from my CardLayout:

import java.awt.BorderLayout;
import java.awt.CardLayout;
import java.awt.FlowLayout;
import java.awt.event.ActionEvent;
import java.awt.event.ActionListener;
import java.awt.event.ItemEvent;
import java.awt.event.ItemListener;
import javax.swing.JButton;

[Code] ....

I have kept the code I am displaying to a minimal, hence I have removed all the action listeners for my buttons, anyway the problem I have is that, I would like it so that when the user clicks on the 'Multiplayer' button which is the array button ourButtons[1], it will then transition into my main game screen so that the user can then play a game of checkers.

Here is the main important GUI from my CheckerBoard class:

import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import javax.swing.*;
  public class CheckerBoard extends JPanel implements ActionListener, MouseListener {
// Main routine that opens an Applet that shows a CheckerBoard
public static void main(String[] args) {
new CLayout();

[Code] ....

Once again kept to a minimal.

Scan Through Array Index Starting From 0

Apr 15, 2014

I want to find a certain element in array I have to scan through the array index starting from 0 until I find the number I am looking for. Even in data structures which use hashing like HashMap and Hashtable we will have to scan through the keys until we find the key we are looking for. So what is the use of hashing over index based searching? I mean how is hashing an advantage over an array?

SetVisible Not Working When Starting On False (AWT Label)

Jul 24, 2014

I'm trying to create a Label using AWT (not swing) that is invisible on startup but shows up when pressung a button. Here's the relevant code:

Label:

updated = makeConfirmedLabel("Updated!");
updated.setVisible(false);

Button:

update = new Button("Update");
update.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
@Override
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) {
MainComponent.updateComponents();
System.out.println(updated.isVisible());
updated.setVisible(true);
System.out.println(updated.isVisible());
}
});

When I press the button I get the following output in console:
false
true

If I start with setVisible(true) and use updated.setVisible(!updated.isVisible()) it works fine. Why can't I start with it hidden??

I tried to use updated.revalidate() after setting it visible. That made it work but it makes the whole UI flicker when pushing the button which isnt desired.

When Add Second Panel The Result Is All White

May 11, 2014

import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.*;
public class PRJ04 extends JFrame {
public static void main (String [] args) {
PRJ04 frmApp = new PRJ04();
PanelChart pnlChart = new PanelChart();

[Code] .....

When I comment out the adding and setting of the pnlChart on my main driver, the pnlPopulationInputs shows up fine, and it runs ok. When I add the pnlChart I get errors like crazy and a white screen. My errors:

Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.ArithmeticException: / by zero
at PanelChart.drawChart(PanelChart.java:45)
at PanelChart.paintComponent(PanelChart.java:24)
at javax.swing.JComponent.paint(JComponent.java:1054)

Once more with this one, I refer back to our in class example. Our programs are set up the same, yet he has no issues with the "/ by zero" exception.

BufferedImage Has White Padding On Top?

Jul 27, 2014

What I am doing is loading a new image from resources in my project, so that I can get the size. Using this, I create a new BufferedImage with those dimensions. The following code is what I am using to take the original BufferedImage, and scale it.

Java Code:

public ImageIcon getBackImage(){
before = new BufferedImage((int)img.getWidth(null), (int)img.getHeight(null), BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB);
int w = before.getWidth();
int h = before.getHeight();
try{
URL url = getClass().getResource("/Blue_Back.png");
before = ImageIO.read(url);

[Code] ......

The scaling seems to be working fine, but what I have noticed is a line of approximately 10 pixels at the top of the image. I took the original image and blew it up to ensure that I wasn't just enlarging undesired portions and this wasn't the case. I then tried to fetch a subImage of the BufferedImage, and that also left the padding at the top. Is there something I am missing that is placing this undesired padding at the top of my bufferedImages ?

Deleting White Spaces In Java Code

Mar 1, 2014

My method below works fine to print a matrix but when it prints every row, it is printing extra 4 white spaces which is not required. How can I delete those extra spaces at the end? when I use

System.out.print((matrix[i][j] + " ").replaceAll("^s+", ""));

It trims every thing including the spaces I needed for my matrix. So where should I put replaceAll("^s+", "") ?

private static void printMatrix(int[][] matrix) {
System.out.println();
System.out.println("Matrix:");
for (int i = 0; i < matrix.length; i++) {
for (int j = 0; j < matrix[i].length; j++) {
System.out.print(matrix[i][j] + " ");

Generating Picture - Black And White Sketch

Nov 19, 2014

I'm stuck with a problem. The code below generates a coloured image.

//Setting the size of the graphics window
final int WINDOW_DIMENSION = 200;
final int SIZE_FACTOR = 3;
EasyGraphics generate = new EasyGraphics(WINDOW_DIMENSION*SIZE_FACTOR,WINDOW_DIMENSION*SIZE_FACTOR);

//Constructing the arrays
char[][] firstArray = new char[WINDOW_DIMENSION][WINDOW_DIMENSION];
char[] secondArray = scan.toCharArray();

[Code] ...

What I would like to do is generate a picture which is mostly white but the colour boundaries of the original picture are in black. I tried using the code below but it doesn't produce what I wanted.

for (int a = 1; a < WINDOW_DIMENSION; a++) {
for (int b = 1; b < WINDOW_DIMENSION; b++) {
generate.setColor(0,0,0);
if(firstArray[a][b]!=firstArray[a-1][b] || firstArray[a][b]!=firstArray[a][b-1])
generate.setColor(255,255,255);
generate.plot(a,b);
}
}
