JavaFX 2.0 :: TreeTable Can't Change Title

Mar 16, 2015

I change TreeTableColumn.text but I got a Exception

Exception in thread "JavaFX Application Thread" java.lang.ClassCastException:
javafx.scene.control.TreeTableColumn cannot be cast to javafx.scene.control.TableColumn
    at com.sun.javafx.scene.control.skin.TableHeaderRow$10.invalidated(TableHeaderRow.java:277)

so I check TableHeaderRow . I find this method

private final InvalidationListener columnTextListener = new InvalidationListener() {
        @Override public void invalidated(Observable observable) {
            TableColumn<?,?> column = (TableColumn<?,?>) ((StringProperty)observable).getBean();
            CheckMenuItem menuItem = columnMenuItems.get(column);
            if (menuItem != null) {
                menuItem.setText(getText(column.getText(), column));
            }
        }
    };

why don't they use this

TableColumnBase<?,?> column = (TableColumnBase<?,?>) ((StringProperty)observable).getBean();

JavaFX 2.0 :: Combobox - Visible Count Row Not Applied And Doesn't Change

I have noticed a strange behavior of Combobox element. The number of visible rows is not the same established by setVisibleRowCount() method. It happens when changing the items list dynamically. The following example reproduces it. I think it is Javafx 8 bug. I have tried unsuccessfully to trigger some event indirectly to refresh the combobox drop down.

JavaFX 2.0 :: Dynamically Change CSS Class And Splash Screen Implementation

Jan 12, 2015

So it seems to reason that many JavaFX applications will want to dynamically change CSS styles.  Is the best way to do this via the <node>.getStyleClass().add("classname")?  The underlying data structure is an observable list.  So lets say one has 5 styles that simply change the fill color of a circle to 5 different colors respectively.  So if I have a condition in which I want to dynamically apply 1 of these 5 styles, the way I currently do this is by defining all 5 styles as strings in a list using a static initializer, then I call <node>.getStyleClass().removeAll(list), then getStyleClass().add("classname").  I do this to avoid adding the same style over and over and inflating the underlying list.  Is this the correct way to manage dynamic CSS styles?

So I know there is a few different way to implement a splash screen.  My app has definitely gotten larger over the last few months of development and I have noticed there is about a 5 second delay between when I run the application to when I see the main stage.  I was thinking a splash screen would be nice to fill this time period.  I have not had time to prototype using a Preloader and I fear that using an alternate, lightweight stage on startup would still take too long of a delay.  I was actually thinking that using the nice and simple JVM argument "-splash:<image name>" would be simple, easy and effective.  Unfortunately when I try to do this, the splash screen comes up but never goes away.

JavaFX Media Player ConcurrentModificationException When Media Change

Dec 5, 2014

I am currently making a video player which allows users to open/play videos which are stored on their computer. I am using JavaFX for this.My problem, is that sometimes when I click the button to load a video, a java.util.ConcurrentModificationException is raised. Other times, it's perfectly fine.I put the calls to .loadAndPlayMediaA() and .prepareMedia() (see below) inside a .runLater(Runnable) to try to prevent this, but it has not worked. My Code (below) is called by a listener on a button, "testButton". I have a class called JfxMediaPlayer which holds the method loadAndPlayMediaA(), and a class called MixingDeck which holds the method prepareMedia()

testButton.setOnAction(new EventHandler<ActionEvent>(){
@Override
public void handle(ActionEvent arg0) {
Platform.runLater(new Runnable(){

Displaying Override In Inheritance

Jul 11, 2014

I'm learning about inheritance and part of my problem is to create an Order with methods, then an UpdateOrder where the total price is changed by adding four dollars to it, and then a main method displaying a few orders. I've copied all three below in order. My question is when I run the program it will display the totalprice() first for the second order followed by name, number, etc.what you override always displayed first regardless of the order you put them in? (The issue is at line 31 on the third code.)

import javax.swing.JOptionPane;
public class Order { //superclass
private String customerName;
private int customerNumber;
protected int quantityOrdered;
protected double unitPrice;
protected double totalPrice;

Override The Clone Method?

May 14, 2014

the clone method of the object class is protected, so therefore we have to override this method I understand this. What doesn't make sense to me is that the protected access modifier gives access to classes in the same package and subclasses. Isn't every single class we make a subclass of the Object Class?

Object Method Override

Mar 7, 2014

I read the following comment at stackoverflow.com. It is not clear to me why equals in the code below does not override - i looked up Object class equals() and the signature is same.

public class Foo {
private String id;
public boolean equals(Foo f) { return id.equals(f.id);}
}

This class compiles as written, but adding the @Override tag to the equals method will cause a compilation error as it does not override the equals method on Object.

Override Equal And Hashcode Method

Jul 7, 2014

I read this tutorial about overriding equal and hashcode method. [URL] ....

I understand how to override equal method, by overriding it, We can custom our compare. I also understand How to override hashcode, To make custom hash.

But still I can not understand why we do it? why if equal method override, we must override hashcode method too?If we don't what is the problem?

To honor the above contract we should always override hashCode() method whenever we override equals() method. If not, what will happen? If we use hashtables in our application, it will not behave as expected. As the hashCode is used in determining the equality of values stored, it will not return the right corresponding value for a key.

Is it the right reason in order to override:

Because when we customize equal method so it focus on special variables,We must change the hash code too in order to match with it, so hashcode also focus on those special variable.

Override Certain Methods In Class File?

Oct 16, 2014

I am wanting to override certain methods in some Minecraft class files, and tell those class files to use code from my class files.

And no, I don't mean extend a class. When I try to extend from the main Block.Class, it makes that file as another block file for the game, or something.

So like, I want to tell the main file that handles block registries to use the code from my class file to register my custom blocks to the list of blocks, but without modifying that main block file.

Is this even something that's possible?

Also, I know that the way a file is named affects the loading order. My class files would be named using symbols to make it load right before the class file I want to override.

Swing/AWT/SWT :: SetLayout Does Not Override Or Implement Method From Super Type?

Sep 12, 2014

I am trying to make a ChessBoard class composed of an array of JLabels inside a JPanel with a grid layout. I am also trying to override the getPreferredSize method so that the board will change size when I resize the main window (in another class in which I will instancize this class as part of a larger GUI). I got this kind of layout working before, but now I am trying to get it to work with multiple classes. However, after copying in the part of the previous code corresponding to the panel's layout, I am encountering some errors that I don't know how to solve. Specifically, when I try to override the getPreferredSize method, the compiler tells me "method does not override or implement a method from a super type, " and that it can't find the method "getPreferredSize"

Here's my code:

public class ChessBoard extends JPanel//the panel that this class extends is the boardHousing
{
//mental chess board piece array
Piece mentalBoard[][] = new Piece[8][8];
//actual GUI chessboard JLabel Array
static JLabel chessBoard[][] = new JLabel[8][8];

[Code] ....

I would just think that I was overriding the method incorrectly, but the weird thing is that I got that specific section of code to work before -- the only thing different now is that there are multiple classes, so my ChessBoard class itself is extending JPanel.

Board Of Colors And Players

Sep 14, 2014

My assignment is for a game where there is a board of colors and each player draws a color and moves to that position on the board. It will then output how many cards total in the game it took whichever player to win. If no winner it outputs the number of cards that none won by going through. I attached the file that corresponds with my code.

This is the desired output:

Player 1 won after 7 cards.
Player 2 won after 8 cards.
No player won after 8 cards.
Player 2 won after 4 cards.
No player won after 6 cards.
Player 2 won after 8 cards.
Player 1 won after 4 cards.
Player 2 won after 8 cards.
Player 1 won after 1 cards.
No player won after 200 cards.
Player 4 won after 100 cards.

import java.io.*;
import java.util.Scanner;
public class ProgrammingAssignment1 {
/**
* @param args the command line arguments
*/
public static int players;
public static int cards;
public static int boardlength;
public static String board;

[Code] .....

The output that I get is:

Player 1 won after 3 cards.
Player 2 won after 8 cards.
No player won after 8 cards.
Player 1 won after 3 cards.
No player won after 6 cards.
Player 2 won after 8 cards.
Player 1 won after 3 cards.
Player 2 won after 8 cards.
Player 1 won after 1 cards.
No player won after 200 cards.
Player 4 won after 100 cards.I guess I'm supposed to set the playerPos[] to -1, but I'm unsure how.
