JavaFX 2.0 :: How To Bind The Content Of A ListProperty

Feb 2, 2015

Is there an existing way to bind the content of a ListProperty?  Consider the following:

private final ListProperty<Worker<?>> workers = new SimpleListProperty<>(FXCollections.observableArrayList());
    public ListProperty<Worker<?>> workersProperty() {return workers;}
    public ObservableList<Worker<?>> getWorkers() {return workers.get();}
    public void setWorkers(ObservableList<Worker<?>> workers) {this.workers.set(workers);}

[Code]...

What I want to do is bind the content of the stateWatchedWorkers list to workers.  If the entire workers list is replaced, I want stateWatchedWorkers to be updated to match the content of the new list.  Put another way, I want the stateWatchedWorkers list to be mapped to the current list being held by the workers property.

JavaFX 2.0 :: Unable To Bind Text Property Of Selected Cell Of TreeView To Label

I try to bind the text-property of a selected cell of a TreeView to a label. So if the user click on a cell in the treeview the label should show the cell text. Now I am quite confused about the options I got to do so. Should I use label.textProperty().bind( ... ??? ... ) The treeview.onMouseClicked()property? or something different?

JavaFX 2.0 :: TableView - Misalignment Between Header And Content

May 23, 2014

I am facing an issue with the TableView in Java FX 8.

I am having a TableView created with data with scrollbars automatically added in when the Window is minimized.
I moved the horizontal scrollbar to right and then maximized the window to full.

After this the column headers remained no longer aligned with the content. When I click on any column header then the header aligns with the content.

The Issue is replicable also in case when a vertical scrollbar gets automatically added to a table view with preloaded data...

JavaFX 2.0 :: Float Modeless Popup On Top Of All Other Content

Jun 1, 2014

I have a case where I want to float a modeless popup on top of all other content. Seems like a Popup is ideal for this. Except for the following annoyances:

I don't see any way to tie its position to some owner window. You can supply an initial anchor position, but I noticed that if I drag the frame of the app window containing the JavaFX application, the Popup remains where it is and can actually appear outside the bounds of the App! I find this very disconcerting. I suppose I could bind its position to the screen coords of the Stage, but it would seem that I should not have to do this.If I minimize the app, the Popup remains visible. Rather odd given that when I called Popup.show(Window), you would think when the owner Window got hidden it would hide the owned Popups too. Again, I could probably bind to some property on the Stage, but like (1), it seems you should not have to do this.

I haven't tried this while embedding the Scene in a browser. I certainly hope that these Popups should not be allowed outside the bounds of the browser window. That spells trouble.

JavaFX 2.0 :: Loading Localized Versions Of FXML Content?

Nov 25, 2014

I am trying to figure out the best way to load localized versions of FXML content. I know that I can localize strings, images etc. by specifying a ResourceBundle when loading the FXML using FXMLLoader with a ResourceBundle. But what about if you need to tweak the FXML for different locales (eg, adding more real estate for certain elements, different fonts, etc). Is there any way to create localized versions of FXML content? The only thing I can come up with is a naming convention like MyForm.fxml, MyForm_de_DE.fxml, ... and trying to load them based on the locale, but I'd have to come up with my own fallback for specific locales that aren't found.

JavaFX 2.0 :: How To Avoid Scaled ScrollPane Content Panel From Being Centered

Nov 19, 2014

I want to create a ScrollPane where I can scale the contents. Think of a simple drawing program that allows you to zoom in and zoom out.

If I create a ScrollPane in SceneBuilder and then drop a couple of Circles into the AnchorPane all looks good.

If I then set a scale of 0.5 for the AnchorPane Scale X and Scale Y the AnchorPane gets scaled about its centre leaving space between the left and top edge of the AnchorPane and the left and top edge of the enclosing ScrollPane.

The only way to get the AnchorPane so that it aligns with the top left of the ScrollPane seems to be to add a negative amount to Translate X and Translate Y.

In my application I would like the user to be able to adjust the zoom (Scale) continually and also the size of the AnchorPane must be allowed to change as the user add/deletes/edits content.

Does this mean I have to continually monitor the AnchorPane properties and set compensating Translate X and Translate Y values each time? Or is there an easier way to achieve what I want?

JavaFX 2.0 :: Tableview - Width Of Columns Computed For Content Of Cells And Ignoring Header

Nov 20, 2014

I'm using the tableview-component. The size of font of header is greater then that of cells. The problem is: the width of the column bases on the cell with the longest string and if the header-string is longer then the header gets truncated (it shows ellipsis) and I have to change the width of column manually. How could I solve this problem? The easiest way would be to compute the column-width on myself. I can't find any method in javafx, that would allow to compute the width of string in pixels. In Swing there is the FontMetrics class and Graphics class, so it is easy to get the width in pixels. Are there any pendants to this classes in JavaFX?

JSP :: How To Bind Values From HTML

Transaction transaction = new Transaction();
transaction.setRefId(request.getParameter("referenceID")== null || request.getParameter("referenceID")== "" ?null:Long.parseLong(request.getParameter("referenceID")));

Is there any alternative on executing request.getParameter on the id's of input text in order to set it on the Transaction bean so that the values will display on the user when the page reloads?

Swing/AWT/SWT :: How To Bind A Filtered Table Using JGoodies Library

Apr 22, 2014

I am working for my customer in a Java EE project, where we use JGoodies for binding JTable rows to text fields below the table. This works fine, but in one dialog, there are filtering check boxes. When all the check boxes - three in number - are clicked, all items become visible. If non are checked, the table remains empty. It is possible to filter out some rows, but JGoodies, which uses the table model, is not aware of this filtering. When clicking the first row in the filtered table, the first row elements of the unfiltered table are displayed in the text fields below. Is there a way to circumvent this problem?

To my opinion, the problem is not a JGoodies problem, but binding a text field with JGoodies using the table model of a table that has been filtered.

I attached an example, where I couldn't manage to bind the text field with the Bindings.bind method, but it shows the problem. I adopted some code found on the Internet for my purposes.

The table is filtered according to the combo box contents. If the GENERAL type of eating is selected, the binding of the text field below is fine. If, however, the combo box selects parts of the table contents, the text field below still gets the information from the (unfiltered) table model. Here, I need information how can I do this in the proper way.

import java.awt.event.MouseEvent;
import java.awt.event.MouseListener;

* A simplified mouse listener that reacts when the mouse has been clicked or pressed.

Copy Array Content To Arraylist

One is an item number, the other the weight ("Item: " + number + "Weight: " + weight). I am trying to build an array list that will add each set of data to it. I know that when I add the item array to the arraylist it is storing the array variable and not its contents, so is there a way to easily copy that data array to the array list?

ArrayList newInventory = new ArrayList();

String itemVal = br.readLine();
