We are doing a Timeline project, So this is what i want to do:
Pressing a "New Event" button opens the New event window where you are supposed to write input in three fields, name, date, and information. There is also a button "Create" that when i press that button, i want to take all the input from the fields and save/send it to our database, and go back to the timeline GUI. With this, i want a new event object to be created(in this case i have done several shapes in a group) so basically a new group i want to be added. All the information is suppose to be taken from the database right after i create it.
I'm pretty stuck on how i should solve this, for the moment have a group called event that i add on the canvas. First thing that pops up in my head is a void method that draws the event, or maybe a temporary array.. P
I have a list of Row objects and want to listen to changes in the name property of a Row object.
public class Row implements Serializable { private final SimpleStringProperty name = new SimpleStringProperty(this, "name", ""); public Row() { this(""); } public Row(String name) { this.name.set(name);
[Code] ....
I would expect to be notified 4 times. Line 23: Added, Line25, 26, 27: Update
But there are only 2 change events. For Line 26 and 27 there is no change event.
java.awt.Component is an abstract class, and it's direct Sub-classes are Button, Canvas, Checkbox, Choice, Container, Label, List, Scrollbar, Text Component
So, when I use addXListener(mylistenerclass m);//which is a method of Component class which object is holding the list of all listeners, for a particular Event Source?
I am under the assumption that - there is an Event Source Object(possibly static) for every Event Source type(mouse, keyboard etc) that holds a list of destinations(classes that implements their listener interface) - added to the the object via addXListener method. When an event happens(mouse click, drag etc) the Event Source Object creates an Event Object and send it to all the destinations. Is my assumption correct? I can't seem to find the location or declaration of Event Source Object and the list where it stores it's registered destinations.
treeView.setOnMouseClicked(new EventHandler<MouseEvent>() { @Override public void handle(MouseEvent mouseEvent) { if (mouseEvent.getClickCount() == 2 && mouseEvent.getButton() == MouseButton.PRIMARY) { // Some action } } });
For some reason when I click on a tab body I can also perform the listener action. How I can add additional statement to perform the action only if I select node?
I’m teaching myself Java. I am a fairly proficient programmer in other languages, but this is the first OO language I’m doing.I have a question that is a bit hard to summarize. Or it should be: how can I pass on an object (or variable) to an event listener?
I am writing an application in which you can play a Sudoku game. I have separated the “logic” or the “model”(the classes with Sudoku data structures and methods to manipulate them) from the presentation (the view and the controller).The main method starts off as follows:
SudokuModel model = new SudokuModel(); SudokuView viewController = new SudokuViewController(model);
The first line creates class for the logic and the second line creates the class for the view and the controller. Since the view and the controller need access to the business logic, the model is passed on to the ViewController class.The SudokuViewController class creates the user interface in Swing and it handles the user input. For the user input I have created a number of listeners, like this:
table.addKeyListener(this);
Now these listeners need access to the model since they update it. However, as far as I’m aware the only parameter passed on to an event listener is the event itself. So these event listeners do not have direct access to the model, even though it is passed on to the constructor of the class SudokuViewController.
To circumvent this, I made model2 an attribute (variable) of the class SudokuViewController. The constructor of the class sets this variable as follows:
model2 = model;
Now the event listeners have access to model2, which they can manipulate.This works. However, I think it is an ugly solution, introducing an additional object (model2). I’d like to pass on the object named model to the event listener, but this doesn’t seem to be possible.
I have an application that uses an object that is declared globally for the class. Within a method that is triggered by a user event, it creates a new object and assigns it to this global object declaration. My question is, when the object is overwritten multiple times by the user selecting the button that calls this method, will the older instances be garbage collected or is there still a reference to them? Is there any downfall to this logic and if so what would be a solution.
I want to do something when the treeitem collapsed or expanded,but both clicked the tree item icon and double clicked tree item can collapsed or expanded the tree item.so how to listen collapse and expand event?
I develop a desktop soft use javafx8, and remove default border (e.g. title and close/min/max button), now use mouse left key click the taskbar icon is nothing,i want click the taskbar icon,if stage it's show then hidden, if stage it's hidden then show it,the problem is I can't capture any mouse click event,so i can't show or hidden my stage.
How to catch the event when table view's column are re-positioned. Basically when the column is re-positioned from 1 position to 5 position , i want to do update the db.
I want to create a program that takes n number of people (String vector) and assigns them a random group number (int) the range from 1 to k. The number n is evenly divided by k.
I have created a program that associates every String with a random int number. There is however the problem that the random generator just gives a random number, but doesn't make an equal number of people for each group. Which means even if the numbers are random, some of the numbers happen to come up more times than others.
How can I write, to make sure that each number is generated the same amount of times?
I need to process one component drag to the table. I misunderstand, how I can see to which Cell fall the component. I tried to use Event and Mouse event handlers in my custom Cell, but they do not work. I can copy the drag event to the table and table handles it, but how to get needed Cell I cant understand.
I am making a graph to implement Breadth First Search and Depth First Search. I changed the program because I want each button to be its own node. However I am having an issue placing them into a panel. When I run the program I get the following error:
The method add (Component) in the type Container is not applicable for the arguments (Buttons)
JPanel matrixPan(){ Buttons[][] matrixBtn = new Buttons[25][25]; JPanel panel = new JPanel(); panel.setSize(550,550); panel.setLayout(new GridLayout(25,25));
I need to be able to call this method and it should take the object and, add it to my list of items, but I am having trouble getting it to work. I know the numbers and stuff aren't correct eventually it will add one to the array length when i call add item, but I am just trying to go one step at a time
//creates new MediaItem object and add it to items[] void addNewItem(String title){ MediaItem object = new MediaItem(title); MediaItem[] items = new MediaItem[1]; items[0] = ("object.getTitle()"); numberOfItems = numberOfItems + 1; System.out.println(items[0]);
I am trying to build a method that takes an array of object and adds a new object of that type to the end of it . ONLY ALLOWED TO USE ARRAY , NO ARRAYLISTS VECTORS ECT . i realize that if the array is full you can use the java copy array method to make a new array and double its size until a certain point . The MAX AMOUNT OF OBJECTS is a constant that is 100 but for some reason even when executing my code i keep getting null pointer exceptions or index out of bounds errors , i have written this method many times now with out any success.
My question is how do I write a method that adds an object to the end of an array and if there are no spots left copies the current array into a new array and extend the size
private Animal [] objects; final int MAX_ANIMALS = 100; public AnimalObject() { objects = new AnimalObject[MAX_ANIMALS]; } public AnimalObject(Animal[]a)
When I try to print out the account Id for each account object, the id is always 1. But it should be 1,2,3,4,5....all the way to the number of the account generated.My question is am I missing something in the constructor or in the main method?? I am new to programming.The main method create an array of account objects and generate random balances into each account object.
import java.util.Scanner; public class Bank { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner userInput=new Scanner(System.in); System.out.print("Enter the number of accounts to generate: "); int numOfAccount=userInput.nextInt();
I have a program I am creating in Eclipse. In my JFrame window, I am adding a JList object that I want to load with an EnumMap that I have created in a separate 'enum' class.
In my JFrame, I have a method called 'loadJList()' in which I want to iterate through the EnumMap and load the keys & values.
Here's what I've tried
In my EnumMap class, I've done the following ...
Java Code:
public enum MyEnumMap { .....//created map values & keys, getter() and setter() public Enum<MyEnumMap> getEnum() { return this; } } mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
I imported my EnumMap program in my JFrame program and tried something like ...
Which does not work. I've scoured the internet a bit but sources on EnumMap are limited, at least ones I can understand (first time trying to use this).
I also need to elaborate on the key of the EnumMap (they are cities, I'd like to add the state or country). For example
LASVEGAS, 749.99
I would want displayed as
Las Vegas, Nevada .... 749.99
My ultimate goal here is to access my EnumMap in my JFrame program to dynamically load a JList object.
I trying to make a file browser but when i try to add item to a FlowPane through me an error at runtime, look at this code if i add label with imageView when there are more than x ítem the error appear.
But if i add the label and the imageView alone the error didn't show. Ihave folder in my pc with more than 1200 file and the error always appear. Is there a way to make a flowpane or tilepane hold enough items?
I have to read in a file that that has Student, Employee, Faculty....such as name, last name, salary...etc
Example of a file input Java Code: Student, John, Doe, [email]johnDoe[At]yahoo.com[/email], 123,Wonderland Ave, 21323,TX PhoneNumber,Cell,111,222,3333 Student, Jesus,Satan,[email]jesus[At]satan.com[/email,666, HeavenHell Dr., 666666,CA PhoneNumber,Work,111,333,5555 mh_sh_highlight_all('java'); Java Code: while(input.hasNext()){
[code]...
There is more code, but it's repetitive. Now, I keep getting an error. Array of bounds. I believe i get the error because the phone number. The phone number is on the next line..I created a different arraylist for phonenumber, but I dont know how to match it with the correct person, student, employee...etc.
In a project I'm ivolved in I have to dynamically add some components. All was going well until I had to generate data tables dynamically. I'm iterating a list of "SomeObject" and when I try to access a property of that object Glassfish tells me that object doesn't have such a property that is readable. I have getters for those properties and SomeObject implements Serializable as well. I used BalusC resources but I'm having no luck.
I'm trying to add a tooltip on a cell of a TableView in order to show some information to the user.
This is the code:
colonnaColore.setCellFactory(param -> { TableCell<Appuntamento, Template> cell = new TableCell<Appuntamento, Template>() { @Override protected void updateItem(Template item, boolean empty) { // calling super here is very important - don't
[Code] ....
In few words: there is a cell factory on the cell to show a colored box, then I added a tooltip to the cell. I need informations that are in the item added to the TableView that has type "Appuntamento". So I try to get my element with these code (that in others part of my code works); but here I get a Null Pointer Exception on cell.getTableView() and also on cell.getTableRow().
I'm probably using these methods in a way that was not expected.
When i press a button, i want to create a new object in my window(that i have created using scenbuilder, so i have a FXML file and a Controller class). In the window where i have a create button, there are also some textfields where you are supposed to enter name and date.
What i want to do is take the input from the TextField and store is temporally in a String variable, Its this strings i want to take the data from when i create a new object on my View. When i try to do something with the TextFields i get multiple errors that i dont understand at all.
I know my code may be very un-structured the absolute right way, i know, but i dont have time reconstructing and trying to understanding new patterns .The object is the circle and the vertical line.
TimelineMainView Controller public class TimelineController{ StageClass sc = new StageClass(); NewTimelineController nt = new NewTimelineController();
I have a Die class that extends Label. It has a SimpleIntegerProperty called faceValue. In another class I have an ObservableArrayList of Die called dice and a FilteredList of all the die in dice with a faceValue of 2. The Problem is that when I update the faceValue (ie. roll()) the filteredlist doesn't update with the Die that faceValue=2. I believe the reason is that the filteredlist updates when a ListChangeListener is fired. If i add, subtract elements from dice I don't have a problem but how do I make it so that updating the faceValue on the die counts as a ListChange, or is there even a way to do that.
Create an equals method that takes an object reference and returns true if the given object equals this object.
Hint: You'll need 'instanceof' and cast to a (Geocache)
So far I have:
public boolean equals(Object O){ if(O instanceof Geocache){ Geocache j=(Geocache) O; if (this.equals(j)) //I know this is wrong... but I can't figure it out return true; }
else return false; }
I think I have it correct up to the casting but I don't understand what I'm suppose to do with the this.equals(). Also I'm getting an error that I'm not returning a boolean... I get this all the time in other problems. I don't get why since I have to instances of returning booleans in this. "returns true if the given object equals this object" makes no sense to me. I assume the given object, in my case, is 'O'. What is 'this' object referring to?
I have a WindowClosing(WindowEvent e) method, but when I close my window it isn't doing anything inside the method. I am making a launcher and I want to make it so when the actual game window is closed it makes the launcher window visible again.
Java Code: public void windowClosing(WindowEvent e) { this.jf.setVisible(true); } mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
