Method Header For File Names?

Feb 27, 2015

I'm new to Methods and do not really know how to write a method header. What would an appropriate header look like for the following instance? getFilename: This method takes no parameters. It asks the user for a filename. If that file exists, it returns the filename. If it does not exist, it asks the user for another filename. It continues to ask for filenames until the user gives the name of a file that exists.

Also, how would I make a return tag for this and call it into the main method.

Unable To Implement Custom Request Method In HTTP Header While Posting Data To Server URL

Jun 26, 2015

I have been trying to implement custom request method in HTTP header while posting my data to the server URL. My application specific URL accepts -X parameter and -d for the data and it is mandatory for that url. Basically I am trying to dump JSON data into my influx DB using CURL command which is working fine from the shell. But the issue is, if I am implementing the same in java with proper approach, it is not supported or working. My CURL command is :

curl -X POST -d '<my_json_data>' '<my_url>'

How can I implement the same in java using HttpUrlConnection or other available approach?

Java Method Overloading Ask For Two Names And Prints Three Different Greetings

Feb 24, 2014

The class Overloading below asks for two names and prints three different greetings. Your task is to write the class methods missing from the class declaration. Methods print the greetings as shown in the example print.

Hint:The names and parameter types of the needed methods can be checked from the main method because all methods are called there. This exercise also does not require you to copy the source code below to the return field.

The method declarations will suffice.

Example output
Type in the first name: John
Type in the second name: Doe

**********
Hi!
**********
Hi, John
**********
Hi, John and Doe
**********

import java.util.Scanner;
public class Overloading {
public static void main(String[] args) {
String firstName, secondName;

Ambiguity When Implementing Multiple Interfaces With Same Method / Variable Names?

Oct 14, 2014

imagine you are implementing 2 interfaces having identical method signatures:

interface A {
void doStuff();
}
interface B {
void doStuff();

[Code] ....

How can I implement both methods?

Or another example with member variables:

interface A {
public static final int i = 3;
}
interface B {
public static final int i = 33;

[Code] ....

How can I go about making clear which 'i' is meant?

Format Of Java File Names

Mar 30, 2015

In Java® identifiers, you are allowed letters and numbers (also _ $£¢€ etc, but you should avoid them in normal identifiers). So you cannot have spaces. You cannot write public class Hello World because the javac tool will see World as a separate identifier and not understand what it means and will fail to compile the code. You must write public class HelloWorld instead. And because the class is labelled public you must call the source file Hello World. java. Since you can't have two classes with the same [fully‑qualified] name, you cannot write two public classes in the same source file.

“What about names of source files?” somebody will ask. Well, some file systems will permit spaces in file names; ext4 will and I suspect so will NTFS. Can you write file names with spaces in? You would have to have a different name of the class inside the file, because you can't have spaces, and you therefore cannot make the class public, but maybe you can write a package‑private class with a different name.

On ext4, you have to write out the name of the file and the shell will interpret the space as meaning there are two different file, so you have to escape the space.

campbell@campbellsComputer:~/java$ gedit My First Class.java
// My First Class.java
class Foo
{
public static void main(String... args)
{
System.out.println("Hello, World!");
}
}
campbell@campbellsComputer:~/java$ javac My First Class.java
campbell@campbellsComputer:~/java$ java Foo

Writing To Excel File From Database Including Column Names

Dec 17, 2014

I need to print contents of database to excel file.Apache POI is the solution but I am not finding a way to print the DB column names/headers into the excel.

E.g.:

incase csv we have opencsv CSVWriter writer = new CSVWriter(new FileWriter(fileName));
System.out.println("writer");
writer.writeAll(rs, true);

will print the db contents with the column headers dynamically whatever the query may be.

Any solution where we can print data and column names without know the query previously as we are getting query at the run time and each time the query is different.

DATABASE

EXCEL
Emp Id. Emp Name

Web Services :: SOAP Header Code

Mar 5, 2015

I'm developing a SOAP client and have used wsimport to generate the classes, etc. and all is going pretty well, but the server requires several headers that I've been coding up manually, specifically wise:Security and o:Security blocks. While this is a valid approach, I think I'm probably doing things the hard way and I know .NET (SOAP being an MS standard originally) has some really powerful code to generate these headers. Does java have any similar counterparts? As an example, I'm writing code like the following:

SOAPElement token = securityElement.addChildElement("UsernameToken", "o");
token.addAttribute(soapFactory.createName("u:Id"), "UsernameToken-1");
SOAPElement userToken = token.addChildElement("Username", "o");
userToken.addTextNode(user);

JSP :: Show Group Header Above Each Displayed Table?

Aug 21, 2014

Displaying the records in a table. I am looking for a group header to be placed above each printed table for its related category and subcategory, as well as, the no. of the records for each table to be shown at the top of the table.

The table contains columns for category, subcategory, name. ex:

Category Subcategory Name

CON Retail AAA

CON Wholesale BBB

SPEC Retail CCC

What I am looking for is the below layout:

Category/Subcategory (No. of records) –similar to a group header

Name – Country ..etc ----Table header

table records

Here is my code below:

<%
//Retrieve the values from the DB
while (rs.next()) {
category_name1=rs.getString("category_name");
subcategory_name1=rs.getString("subcategory_name");

[code]....

The problem in the above code is that it is showing the group headers category & sub category multiple times and the count is incorrect.

Write Constructor Header - Invent Some Fields?

Oct 18, 2014

I have been given a question about a object creation resulting in the constructor of the Time class being called, and to write the constructor's header new Time(21, 39, 55);

So, this would be simply "public Time" and have to give meaningful names to formal parameters, which is what i don't understand. Is it just private int hours; etc? I have also been told to attempt to write the body of the constructor and will need to estimate how the code in the body will work and to invent some fields.

I am facing an issue with the TableView in Java FX 8.

I am having a TableView created with data with scrollbars automatically added in when the Window is minimized.
I moved the horizontal scrollbar to right and then maximized the window to full.

After this the column headers remained no longer aligned with the content. When I click on any column header then the header aligns with the content.

The Issue is replicable also in case when a vertical scrollbar gets automatically added to a table view with preloaded data...
