Apr 3, 2014i want to know how i can add more than one frame in a single frame means main window or frame will be constant and only components will be chang or vary as in a software or game .

May 27, 2014I've been doing a course with a heavy focus on applets and AWT using BlueJ. I've branched out and learn to convert my applets to applications. I can successfully use frames to do similar things to applets (in BlueJ's applet viewer) but I can not seem to run more than application at a time (unlike applets where I could run several at the same time).
Below is a simple Hello World program I wrote. When I re-run main() it closes the original and starts again. (I'm aiming to explore the java.net.* libraries and for testing would like to use more than one frame at a time which can communicate to each over via sockets).

Displaying Icon And Title In Multiple Java Frames?
Jan 13, 2014I developed a simple java gui . On running a frame opens with 5 buttons and each button opens another frame when selected. There are no errors and frames open and close as required however i see that only the main program frame has the icon and title that i assigned and the frames bieng called through the buttons have the default frame with java icon and no title although it's been specified in the code of these called frames. When these called frames are executed individually though the program the title and icon are displayed.

Apr 22, 2014 I have a Single Frame Application and I simply want to prompt the user with a dialog confirming they really want to close before they actually close the program, specifically when they click the X in the upper right. I THOUGHT it was like any other java application, with the slight added complexity of having to target the program-created-JFrame with: ".getApplication().getMainFrame()".
MyApp.getApplication().getMainFrame().setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.DO_NOTHING_ON_CLOSE);
With that code, DO_NOTHING_ON_CLOSE is set on the JFrame, yet the program closes anyways. Which I don't understand.So I did some reading and found this: URL....That lead me to the configureWindow override, where I successfully tried this:

But as far as I can tell that will only let me react to the window closing, not to the command to close it, where I could then kill the command in the dialog if they so "no I'm not ready to quit yet", if that makes sense. So, how to give a prompt before closing?I am using netbeans IDE to create this app - not sure if that is relevant, since maybe it is an oddity with the IDE and not Single Frame Applications.

Feb 3, 2014I am writing a ComputerBaseTest application with Netbeans. I have each question on a panel and I want the questions(panels) to be switched, viewing the previous and the next question on a single frame, but I do not know how.
I only understand frame switching if each questn is to be on a frame but each score on each question (frame) do not sum up to give the overall score at the end of the test. Using multi-frame shows a sign of bad programming.

"panel1" have a button "addTimer" when clicked it should add the "panel" to the frame if i gain click the button it should again add the "panel" without overlapping the previous "panel" rather it should be created below the previous "panel". If i click on the button "addTimer" n times it should add the panel n times. Along with this the frame size has to dynamically change depending on the number of panels produced. Below is the code i tried my level best to satisfy the above conditions.

Multiple Runnable In A Single Class
Aug 1, 2014I want to have two threads running in my class, one will be downloading info from a website then putting the thread to sleep for a little bit, then repeating. The other will be sending information to a website then putting the thread to sleep for a little bit, then repeating. Is it possible to do this in my main class? I already have one thread using run() for downloading the info and sleeping can i make another?

I'm still trying to think my way through this. I would think it'd be easier to store the inputs from the user as individual letters rather than words for the sake of converting to phone numbers.
Also, we are only supposed to recognize the first 7 letters of each word that is entered, like the CALL HOME example, there are 8 letters but it's still a seven digit phone number, so I'm not sure how that would work.
Also, when printing the phone numbers after they've been converted, we're supposed to print the hyphen after the third number, I have no clue how that would be done from an array.

I am using indexOf to find the instance of a character in a string, but it only returns the first instance. So if the words(s) contain(s) multiple instances it doesn't register the rest.

May 28, 2015I need to write out multiple BufferedImages to a single tiff file. Each image represents a seismic time slice which can be several megabytes in size. I have used the TIFFEncodeParam.setExtraImages method and saved all my BufferedImages to a vector but my since I create so many BIs I keep running out of memory. Is there a way to create a BI, write it out to a TIFF file, then discard the BI and create the next one?

Frames Per Second In Games
Nov 13, 2014I have a question about Frames per second in games. In a simple game i should be able to pull off 60(exactly), right? So if i have this code for a game loop:
while(shouldRun){
Thread.sleep(1000/60);
//loop code here
}
will that run at 60 fps?
The loop code takes a tiny bit of time, then it waits for (a second/60), so overall the code will be running overall since the code takes some time?
Is this the case , and if so is there a solution?
