Multiplication Table - Single Field To Store Integer

Steps are:

Create a new class, MultiplicationTable, that has a single field to store an integer multiplication table

Create a constructor that takes a parameter for the maximum number to be multiplied in the table. For example, MultiplicationTable(9) would have a maximum value of 81, where as MultiplicationTable(12) would have a maximum value of 144. Initialize the field in the constructor with the appropriate multiplication values.

Create a multiply method that takes two integers as parameters and returns their multiplication value by looking it up in the field. Make sure to test this method with values greater than the max the table should have stored. How can you handle these cases?

Create a main method that repeatedly tests multiply by printing out the entire multiplication table.

Java - Integer Limits / Multiplication And Exponents?

noticed that if I use integers only and simple multiiplication to get my exponent results (in this instance I was looking into Base 26) what is returned is odd, BUT consistent results once I surpass the integer upper limit of 2,147,483,647. I anticipated that once this limit was reached the program would blow up somehow, but no.

Rows And Columns In The Form Of Multiplication Table?

I am making rows and columns in the form of a multiplication table, listed below is my code:

If you see my sample run you can see that I have the multiplication table down but, I haven't completed it. I have to make the bottom left half of the whole table blank somehow. For example, I have to make it halfway through the middle of the table the bottom left half full of white space...

Servlets :: Generate M By N Multiplication Table Based On User Input

I have a basic html form with one user input text box labeled "Enter a number" and a submit button labeled "Create a multiplication table". This is the working with a servlet to display an html formatted multiplication table. Everything else is working fine just the formatting is off; I can't seem to get the top row and far left column to number properly. It should look like this with the top row of numbers beginning with a blank cell and then numbering 1 thru n (depending on what the user selects. The first column should be the same, a blank cell and then 1 thru n. Then the multiplication table should be in the rows/columns of the table. Picture this:

I can't get mine to start with a blank cell in the top left-hand corner, instead it has 1 in that cell and the table starts calculating with 2x2.

Formatting Table For A Single Error Correction Program

So I want to format my output in a table much like the one in the book. I have an SECTable class and it displays the table one row at a time. 4 of the rows are in the 2D array in the SECTable class. The decimal position values are just displayed via a loop going from 12 to 1 (8 bits), 21 to 1 (16 bits), and 38 to 1 (32 bits) and the binary position values have their own class which contains an ArrayList of the binary position values as strings. Here's an example of how I want the table to be formatted (this is after an error has been generated so all the rows will be displayed):

Binary Position: 1100 1011 1010 1001 1000 0111 0110 0101 0100 0011 0010 0001
Decimal Position: 12 11 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1
Stored As: 0 0 1 1 1 0 0 1
Check Bits: 0 1 1 1
Fetched As: 0 0 1 0 1 0 0 1
Error Check Bits: 1 1 1 0

And I need it to format similarly for 16 bits and 32 bits as well. Here's the display function for the list of binary position numbers:

The print3rdRow and print4thRow are booleans to determine whether an error has been generated yet (user chooses from menu to create an error and the program picks a random bit to change and the erroneous data is put in the 3rd row and it's check bits are put in the 4th row). I tried doing spaces but it just wouldn't come out like I wanted.

so for my computer science class, we have the following problem:

In your documentation be sure to say which loop you thought was easier to implement for this program and why Write a program that produces the following outputs. The first line of output must be written using a For-Loop. The second, using a While-Loop and the third using a Do-Loop.

You look at the program and smile because you see that the series is just the numbers 1-10 squared...just one line is in reverse order. No problem! As you start typing you discover that the number 8 key on your keyboard is not working. For this program you are unable to use the multiplication key

So, back to the drawing board. By staring at the sequence a light comes on and you are able to quickly finish this program WITHOUT using mulitiplication (or the Math class/ solve with arithmetic operators +, - or / ) .

I have the "for" done, but I did it with a "for" in the beginning but then had a multitude of nested "if" loops so that I could do 7*7=7+7+7+7+7+7+7

How A Certain Field Is Being Incremented

I've come across a piece of code and I am totally baffled by how a certain field is being incremented.

Now. The output for this is:

I understand all the code in it quite well. It's all basic. Containers, generics, looping, foreach loop. What I DON'T understand though is how on each iteration of the foreach loop, the call to the method id() returns an incremented number. I am assuming it has something to do with the field "counter" in class Foo being static because when I made it non-static it didn't increment. I must have missed something way back when I started learning Java because I just don't get it.

The id() method only returns the value of the id field in class Foo and that is the value of counter++. counter is not initialized, though I'm guessing it gets the default 0 when the Foo() constructor is run? Or do statics get initialized BEFORE the constructor is even run? Anyway. How does calling the id() method cause an incrementation? I'd understand if there was some code that tracked the number of Foo objects being created and incrementing for each one, but I cannot see how each time the id() method is called it returns an incremented value.

How To Get Text From Password-Field

i need to develop a java program in which it will ask the user "Username" and "Password" and by which it will login to a wesite.

I have developed a GUI in which the username should be entered in the User "JTextfield" and Password in Password "JPasswordField". I need to make sure that password should not be displayed in the GUI. but I didnt find a way to parse the string (char) entered in the "JPasswordField" to the website.

It is always passing a 'null' character! I tried to search in internet and i found that it wont be able to pass the passwordfield characters but you will be able to check in the main function itself by comparing with another char array in the main program itself whether the password entered is correct or not.

Is there any alternate way for this?

Objective : Parse the password (which is not displayed in the GUI) to a website or some other function where it will use it

Setting Values In PDF Field?

I have a PDF file and I have a text file that contains this data. It has the name of a PDF field along with a database table column name.

Text file: pdfFieldEmployee=Employee; pdfFieldStartDate=StartDate; pdfFieldSalary=Salary; pdfFieldExempt=Exempt

I also have this hash map that contains the database table column names along with their corresponding values:

Employee, Don Parker
StartDate, 5/6/2000
Salary, $55000
Exempt, N

How would I read through the text file and the hash map and at the same time do this:

if the pdf field is equal to pdfFieldEmployee, then set pdfFieldEmployee equal to Don Parker.
if the pdf field is equal to pdfFieldStartDate, then set pdfFieldStartDate equal to 5/6/2000.

and so on and so on. I would prefer to do this with a loop because I think it would take less code than writing a bunch of if statements.
