Multiply Every Number In Array By 2 And Print It Out

My assignment is to write some code that will multiply every number in an array by 2 and print it out. This is using a site zyante which is a interactive online book kind of thing.
I have tried For (i=0; I < 8; i++) with like userVals = userVals * 2) }
And it doesn't like that so i'm guessing i am no where close to right. The chapter doesn't give me any example of doing anything close to this so i am completely lost on what i have to do.

I am trying to make a program to multiplies two numbers without using the "*" operator. My idea was to add x number y amount of times, which is the same as multiplication. I did this with a for loop, but zero is always returned as the answer. How can I fix this?

I have to write a program that will read a picture and then print out the number of blocks inside it.
I have to read the picture as a binary matrix of the size r - c (number of rows times number of columns). The blocks are groups of one or more adjacent elements with the value 1.
- Blocks are built exclusively of elements with value 1
- Each element with value 1 is a part of some block
- Adjacent elements with value 1 belong to the same molecule.
We only take into account the horizontal and vertical adjacency but not diagonal.
INPUT:
In the first line of the input we have the integers r and c, separated with one space.
Then we have the r lines, where each contains s 0's and 1's.
The numbers inside the individual lines are NOT separated by spaces.
The OUTPUT only print the number of blocks in the picture.
Example:

I would like to multiply the amount stated inside program by user input. I currently have

The user should enter 2 and the value should show 20.00. This does work however im looking for a way to say enter 2 = 2*10 instead of stating each value individually.

I have double checked this code over and over and I just can't find the problem.
What I'm trying to do is take a file and input it into an 2D array.
Ultimately, I should convert the array of integers to an array of characters, then print it out. The file contains a set of ASCII values.
After printing it out, I should then create methods to manipulate the image produced.
Using 2D arrays is a requirement for this exercise.
I think that somehow I'm overcomplicating this and the solution is a lot more simple than I think, but I can't think of what to change.
The error I am getting is:

I'm trying to write a method that will print a string of a random number of X's (from 5 to 20) on a line, then another number of X's on the next line, etc. until the random number = 16.
I have to use while loops and probably fencepost algorithms. I'm confused with how to print the number of x's the random number of times over and over.
Right now, I'm pretty sure my for loop is wrong or unnecessary.

I was suppose to create a simple Java program for calculating the area of a rectangle (height * width). Then check the user’s input, and make sure that they enter in a positive integer, and letting them try again if they enter in a negative number. (I'm not sure how to get them to try again.
I am suppose to use an "if" statements and indeterminate loops to achieve the solution. The program will have the following requirements:
1. Ask the user to enter in both a height and width (as an integer)
2. If the user enters in a negative number, display an error
3. If the user enters in a negative number, give them another chance to enter in the correct value
4. Calculate the area and display to the screen once two positive integers have been entered.

In a text file, I have individual titles (starting with ">" character), and under those titles, I have calculated values for a Counter. I want to search the entire text file for the highest counter under every title. After I get the highest counter, I would like to print it's title, name of the counter, and counter value. Example of the code I already have:

I'm trying to print out the results of a program that calculates the number of seats the parties will get in an election.I have to print the partial results and the national results.
I can print te number of seats per party in each constituency, but how can i sum all seats per party in each constituency and print the national results?I'm working with vectors, which I know it might not be the best option, but everything is working, except the fact that I can't loop throuhg the vector and retrieve the total sum per party.Like, adding the seats for labour party in Constituency A and B and C, etc, and print the sum. And do the same for conservative party.Is it possible, or doIhave to create a method in Parties class to solve the problem?

I am taking the Class Algorithms and Datastructures and got an assignment for Lab that really throws me off. The goal is to create an Array out of a given CSV file, implement several Methods that get the size of array, etc.
I am still stuck in the first part where the CSV has to be imported into the Array. My problem is that I need a mechanism that figures out the needed size for the Array, creates the array, and only then transfers the data from the CSV.
The list consists of the following wifi related values:
MAC-Adress, SSID, Timestamp, Signalstrength.
These are on the list, separated by comma. The Columns are each of these, and the rows are the four types of values making up the information on a certain wifi network.
The catch is, we are not allowed to use any of the following:
java.util.ArrayList
java.util.Arrays
and any class out of java.util.Collection.
So far I used the BufferedReader to read in the file and tried to implement the array, but I get an arrayindexoutofboundsexception.

I am working on a problem where i have to create a 2d array with given input of the dimensions (odd number) of array, along with a number within the array and to then print out all of the numbers surrounding that number.
Anyway, i am working on simply making the spiral, which should look like the one below.

7 8 9
6 1 2
5 4 3
where the 1 always starts in the center with the 2 going to the right, 3 down, then left etc. etc. I was able to create the code by starting on the outer edges rather than the center and working my way to the middle, however my code always starts from the top left and goes around to the center where it needs to start from the top right. I am having trouble altering my code to meet this criteria. This is what i have thus far.
