NoClassDefFoundError With Java Standard Platform Class?
Feb 18, 2015
I am facing NoClassDefFoundError with one of the java standard platform class (java.text.DigitList$1)
java.text.DigitList class is part of rt.jar so it should not create any issue as such.
I am using Java 1.6.0_06
StackTrace:

I extracted a jar file and decompiled one of the classes using jad in order to made a small edit (the original jar was looking to load an image file in the current directory, I replaced the current directory with an environmental variable). I went and recompiled that class. It complained that it cannot find some swt classes, so I downloaded swt.jar for Linux from the Eclipse website and specified the classpath to contain it. It compiled fine and I repacked the jar file. But when I tried to execute it I got:
Java Code: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/eclipse/swt/widgets/Decorations at java.lang.Class.getDeclaredMethods0(Native Method) at java.lang.Class.privateGetDeclaredMethods(Class.java:2531) at java.lang.Class.getMethod0(Class.java:2774) at java.lang.Class.getMethod(Class.java:1663)
[code]...
I do not get the same error when I execute the original jar file (that complains that it cannot find the image file unless I put the image in the directory I execute it from). I even tried putting swt.jar in the classpath during execution:
i have problem in what comes to jumping because in what i have now mario jumps with the key lsitener, key pressed up arrow and it jumps smooth but when im trying to make it fall down he appears immediatly at ground and it doesnt simulate the fall as it should be.
The other problem is that i dont really know how to detect collisions if there is a method that makes easier this proceso and how to make the map to continue and repeat so mario could continue walking,
I was wondering how Java knows where to Import classes from when we don't specify the whole directory path.
For example: import java.util.* Does It automatically search In both your current directory and the directory created during Installation that contains the standard library (wherever It may have been Installed) ?
Code: package button; import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.event.*; public class Actions extends JFrame implements ActionListener { JPanel pnl = new JPanel();
[Code] ....
Errors: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.Error: Unresolved compilation problems: The type Actions must implement the inherited abstract method ActionListener.actionPerformed(ActionEvent) event cannot be resolved event cannot be resolved at button.Actions.<init>(Actions.java:4) at button.Actions.main(Actions.java:9)
My program was working fine and then without changing anything, it has started throwing me a "Exception in thread "main" java. lang. NoClass Def FoundError: medina/client/ClientGameFrame". I'm dumbfounded as to how this can just suddenly appear after I've been working on this program all week. My research has pointed out that it must be my class paths but as far as I know, the class paths are fine....and why would it suddenly stop working if it was my class paths ?
I have just been trying to compile in netbeans and that's when the error occurs, though I just tried packaging to a jar and the jar works fine...though why not in netbeans?
It's an RMI program that has to be able to return the mean, mode and median of a set of numbers.It's composed of 4 classes; a client, an implementation class (with the math), an Interface, and a server class.
I created a simple java game in which i have to keep the ball up with a platform, similar to the game brick breaker. Everything works great. I am using keyListener to move the platform left and right. My only problems is that I am unable to keep the platform in bounds of the applet window. I know Its something to do with my logic in the update method of my Platform class but I'm stumped. Here are the 3 classes:
I have just started learning Java from a local teacher, this teacher said that the Architecture Neutral refers to Hardware while Platform Independent refers to Operating System, but I found a link to a White Paper by James Gosling. The chapter 4 of this White Paper mentions about both binary code format that is independent of hardware architecture and operating system interfaces, but the main point to be noted is that he has put both under the heading Architecture Neutral. Does it mean that the original buzz word is Architecture Neutral, which includes both hardware and operating system independence?
I have to write sorting algorithm for numbers given on standard input(console) with following requirements:
The application must remember the distinction between double and integer numbers. This must be evident in the sorted output. Double type numbers are written using a period (.) to separate the fraction from the whole part.
The problem is I don't know how to efficiently distinct whether something is an int or double on standard input, to save them into 2 different arrays.
Only idea I've come to so far is to read each number as String and check if it has '.' character, to figure out if it's double and than convert it into right type and add it to correct array.
Also thought that maybe this would be achieveable using Pattern but how to do that?
for standard deviation my output is not rounded to the 10's place, how can I make it round to the 10's place. Here is my code.
import java.util.*; public class chapter7 { public static final int Max_Number_Scores = 100; public static int fillArray(double[] scores) { System.out.print("You entered "); for (int i = 0; i < scores.length; i++) { System.out.print(scores[i] + " ");
It may be (it is highly likely) possible that I have royally stuffed this up. I am attempting to write a program that asks a user for a file name, gets the number of entries and if there is more than one entry calculate the mean, variance and standard deviation. This is my code so far:
/* Calculate contains methods that determines the number of data entries in a file, and calculates the mean, variance and standard deviation of this set * ************************************************************************/ import java.util.Scanner; import java.io.*; public class Calculate { public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { // Create a Scanner object for keyboard input. Scanner keyboard = new Scanner(System.in);
[Code] ....
The errors I am getting are:
Calculate.java:67: error: ';' expected mean += mean/String filename; ^ Calculate.java:67: error: not a statement mean += mean/String filename;
I'm using netbeans to develop an application to send and receive data via RS 232 standard. I can send data but I can't read it.what can I do? I have this message in the console: Underlying input stream returned zero bytes. (I must use also threads to have application in real time but I don't understand very well....
Basically I'm trying to compute the standard deviation for a set of numbers and I'm using previously know data to compute this. The data I'm working with is here (note all of this is fake as its for an assignment):
Next this is the code that I know is producing the error:
/** * Pass in original data from files, and pass in computed grades as arraylist. this returns all of the standard deviations to be printed */ public static ArrayList calcStandDev(String data1[], ArrayList<Double> grades, ArrayList<Integer> averages) { double standDev = 0; int j = 0; //gets rid of first element in string array, makes processing MUCH easier String[] data = Arrays.copyOfRange(data1, 1, data1.length);
[Code] ....
Look for the line with all the ***'s, it is producing the "java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.Double cannot be cast to java.lang.Integer".
The reason I dont undersand why its producing this error is because temp.get(i) should be a integer - averages.get(i) (is type double), I do believe automatic up casting is present here making them both a double then I multiply it by itself producing a double? I dont understand where the casing is occurring. And just incase you want the formula I'm using for standard deviation here it is:
I am trying to create a method that calculates the standard deviation of array. What I want to be able to do is something like this
package standardDevaitionAndMean; public class StandardDeviationTest { public static void main (String[] args) { int [] array = {12,12,12,12,12,12,12}; standardDev = array.StandardDevation(); System.out.print(standardDev); } }
With something like this
package standardDevaitionAndMean; public class StandardDeviation {double mean1; double standDev; public double Mean(double ... array) { for(int i=0; i<array.length;i++)
[Code]...
So basically I want to be able to make an array in a class and be able to calculate its standard deviation with my method in my other class. I know the code I wrote is terrible but I just wanted to show what I am trying to do. I am kind of shaky on how arrays operate
The purpose of this program is to import via keyboard Numbers.txt and calculate the mean and standard deviation to Results.txt.I am able to get the mean calculate but when I open the Results.txt the standard deviation is 0. I don't know what is wrong with my code, but I believe it has something to do with the scanner being close. Here is the error message i receive after inputting Numbers.txt.
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Scanner closed at java.util.Scanner.ensureOpen(Unknown Source) at java.util.Scanner.hasNext(Unknown Source) at StatsDemo.main(StatsDemo.java:48) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source) at edu.rice.cs.drjava.model.compiler.JavacCompiler.runCommand(JavacCompiler.java:272)
Java Code:
import java.text.DecimalFormat; //for number formatting import java.util.Scanner; //for keyboard input import java.io.*; //for using files public class StatsDemo { public static void main(String [] args) throws IOException
I am coding for the first time using the simplified BlueJ platform. I am trying to write a simple conversion program from cm to inches and inches to cm.
Here is my code so far (I also have the textIO file linked to it):
public class UnitConverter { public static void main(String[] args){ int inchesTocentimetres, centimetresToinches, exitApplication; int choice; double result;
i want to write a class in such a way that i should get the current execution time of another class which is running. I searched in net but it shows only how to calculate the time duration of the current class which is running. But as per my way, i need the execution time of one class from another class. How to do this ?
I am working on a calculator for Android.To make sure the application I am developing works with multiple operations (in the correct order) I decided to use ANTLR as part of my Java coding of the calculator. So in a separate file (.g4 file), I must declare the format of the expression.
After which I need to include the ANTLR class library in my Java Class. Then I believe I need to call a set of functions such as createLexerInterpreter and createParserInterpreter, but I am not sure. I will be having an algorithm string that will need to be parsed, such as " 3+4*5+8*9+(5/6) ".
I will give an example below of what I am talking about. in C++ I know I would need a copy constructor because I would be pointing blindly in the heap if I deleted a object in the struct.
We have a Class/struct animal and three animals in that class/struct, a dog, a cat and a cow. Each animal has a baby and then I will give the animal a name in main. But if I delete one of the dogs puppies because I sold him wouldn't I being pointing off in the heap and have a leak?
Also since Java doesn't have structs can I put a class inside a class?
