Opening Image In JPanel

I've been working on this code since a couple days and I just can't find what's wrong here. I have make an image open when the JMenu m6 button is clicked but it just doesn't work. I've tried a bunch of different codes but when I click on the desired button, nothing happens. Here's the code :

I'm simply trying to make a gui for managing images for my purpose, but i fall at the first step: I'm actually not able to display an image, whether it would be a .gif or .jpg ....

Trying to get an image to display in a GUI.

But nothing is happening in the GUI. I have stepped through and bufferedimage contains the data, but its not being displayed. Whats happening is, an image is being transmitted to serial port of laptop, so i'm taking it in and storing it in a BufferOutputStream and then trying to open it in my GUI class.

I am trying to set a picture in the background of my GUI. I had already made the GUI with the all the required buttons and labels. So I was trying to separately make a class which extends JPanel and add a picture to a panel by overriding the paintComponent() method, and then added it to a frame (I did not set the default layout of the frame, so it was the default...), and it worked very fine. Here is the code:

Then I needed to add this panel with background picture to the background frame of my already made frame with all the buttons on it.The layout of the parent frame of my GUI was BorderLayout(50, 50), panels (with buttons) were added to it n the north and south positions.
Then I tried to add a JPanel with the background image to the parent frame (of my GUI), (I wanted it to elapse the entire frame, and come under all the buttons and controls, which were only present in the north and south positions of the border layout), and then the panels holding the buttons to the north and south postions of this panel, everything disappeared.
If I don't do anything except adding this panel with the background image to the parent frame, it only takes up the place not taken up by the two panels on the frame (Border Layout)
how to add this panel to the parent frame of my GUI such that it elapses the entire parent frame's background, and the panels containing the buttons should sit on it.

I cannot get an image to display. The code here is my latest attempt. I have tried ImageIcon, applets using getImage() among many other things. I do not know if it is a file path problem. The file I am using is in the src folder of the package I am using on Eclipse. I am on Windows 8. Here is the code.

I have created a java gui application and I need to communicate through the serial port. I would like to open the serial port in the beginning of the application and then close it when the applications closes. The problem that I am having is that I created a method to open the serial port in the main function but I can not close the serial port on exit off the application. Is there away of having the serial port be setup so that all methods can access the serial port.

I'm now working more and more on the go and although I can carry my Macbook Air without too much trouble I've just been given an iPad Mini by work and it's far easier to do what I do with that on the move.
For work I need to open around 35 different websites at one time 4/5 times a day on the move.
With my Macbook that's no issue, as I can just use the open all function of my bookmarks, but on the iPad there is nothing that will allow me to do this.
I have looked online and a few people have had this issue and fixed it using the below Java method:
Creating a link that when clicked sets off a Javascript function that contains several window.open("url"); Clicking the link opens each website in its own tab.

I have a Main() class that extends JPanel and I'm trying to add Card() that also extends JPanel.When I add a Card() or Main() object to the JFrame directly, it works fine. The problem arises when I try to add a Card() object to the Main() object.
I edited the code a little bit to make it easier to read so hopefully it's fine.

my code uploads a file to server.it works perfectly. however when i try to access it through href it says file not available.but the file is present.

I'm going through a file (MySQL dump) and I wish to take the SQL and create individual files for each table (as opposed to what I do now, which is just run through the whole thing).

Now, this all works fine - but what I want to do is create a separate .sql file for each table.
However, I can't figure out the best way to do this - how do I create a new FileWriter (or instance of whatever class is required) as I'm going through the while loop? That or pointing the same one to different files as I go through the loop.
It can be assumed that the file may exceed RAM - I want to do it line by line rather than slurping the entire file as a string and "cheating" that way.
There appear to be many (a bewildering amount of) I/O options and I'm just unsure.
